thanks for your kinds words and advice Romanholiday , antspants carciofi (btw interesting name which I just googled!)and hellsbelles I actually quite like wearing spanx Blush and I'm keeping an eye on Brand Alley as the email said they've got a sale starting next week. My thanks to whoever linked to Brand Alley on the last thread and my apologies to lowering the tine from fabulousness to foundation garmets!

vinvinoveritas (phew - 6 attempts! may I please call you vin?!)red flower corsage sounds lovely. Have always loved that kind of thing even when I was mocked for it!

hf128219 thinking of your colleague and teenage son.

I have always wanted a red magimix :yearn: and vin beat me to the comment about the Shred!

TheAllNewOoooh whit whoo! Nice skirt too.

redllamayellowllama · 26/01/2011 12:41

Oooh, your figure looks gorgeous. Like the top very much, but would agree that it needs something lighter underneath and that it would look better worn casually.

everything, Funky Munkys also my bar of choice whilst I was at Goldsmiths (2002/3). Wonder if our eyes met across a crowded room?!

LetThemEatCake · 26/01/2011 12:48

Another funky munky ex regular here. A mere stumble home, back in the day

hellsbelles · 26/01/2011 13:01

I giggled at WIT?s ?special box? too and like Mac I had mean thoughts about ?wait till she has kids?.

Oooh ? totally agree with the general consensus that the top would look fab dressed down?but with the skirt it?s a bit too, I don?t know, ?grown up??

I?m debuting my flared jeans today and loving them. I feel very sprightly (though I realise that word brings immediate connotations of an old woman!). the thought is very much on my mind as one of the amazon recommendations for me was the stranger in the mirror cheeky buggers.

Ahh, exhaustednurse, that's lovely. I agree with the power of these threads, I think I have been saved from 'age-appropriate' dressing as I approach 40, and not caring if I stand out at times for not always playing it safe.

AntPants1 · 26/01/2011 13:29

exhausted nurse so sorry to hear about the pnd. Hope you are feeling more yourself. I totally agree about this thred being escapism. Sometimes when life is a bit tough it is just lovely to think about clothes and you are so right, taking time think about yourself when running around after children is great stress relief. I am also about to return to work after mat leave and know that even though I am very a bit nervous about it at least I know I am going to be well dressed.

X

AntPants1 · 26/01/2011 13:31

apuskidusky good for you! I am sure you look wonderful.

DolceeBanana · 26/01/2011 13:31

awww exhausted...how lovely. How old are the dc'S?

WIT is tres funny, no? Admit to similar thoughts Hells....

Have been for coffee with friend...gorgeous cottage in fab village...v lovely!

Have Kitchenaid blender and Magimix - do love the look of the KA blender but rather like the AGA one too. Similar price I think. Cannot do link at mo, will do later.

Anyone recommend any fab slim fitting white shirts for women....really neat shape...?

AntPants1 · 26/01/2011 13:46

ApuskiDusky · 26/01/2011 13:46

I have just ordered this - possible MOAM dress??

Bonsoir · 26/01/2011 13:47

"At risk of sounding shallow, but I think you will all agree, there is a very restorative element in clothing and caring for yourself."

No no not shallow! Taking good and proper care of yourself is a vital, essential part of life that enables you to give your most and best to others.

redllamayellowllama · 26/01/2011 13:48

Am so with you exhaustednurse, this thread is proving to be one of the only things keeping me from climbing the walls at the moment. Hope you're beginning to feel more like yourself.

I just need to learn not to buy everything so much of what I like. Smile

Bonsoir · 26/01/2011 13:51

DIY beauty treatments are a good cheap substitute for spending money on clothes Smile. Plenty of feelgood factor once you are exfoliated, epilated, moisturised, plucked, dyed and coiffed from head to toe!

redllamayellowllama · 26/01/2011 13:53

This is true Bonsoir, too often are the days when my face and outfit don't match.

PlumSykes · 26/01/2011 13:55

Lovely dress, Apuski, and HOF suggested I might like this too. And it's right. I do!

ApuskiDusky · 26/01/2011 13:58

Oh, yes Plum, I saw that and ummed and ahhed over the colour for me, I like it.

blossoming · 26/01/2011 14:03

Thank you exhaustednurse. What a lovely tribute. Good luck back at work, and come back soon!
ants, lovely tops. I especially like the grey cowl neck. (But oh my eyes, my cc statement this month).
Oh, and I love a white shirt. That Thomas Pink one will be on my list if I get this job!
apuski, great dress.

I have written my cv and my letter of application. Will post it later. Phew.

DolceeBanana · 26/01/2011 14:04

Thanks Ants...not work shirt though. More for with jeans etc. Like a really slim, neat fit.

Yes, Bonsoir, I like to look/feel groomed, nonchalantly, of course ...not like I tried too hard....Wink

Bonsoir · 26/01/2011 14:14

Absolutely Dolce - it's that great con, the effortlessly beautiful/groomed/stylish look Wink

traceybath · 26/01/2011 14:18

Hi Exhausted - lovely to hear you've enjoyed/enjoy this thread Smile

I am a bit off clothes at the moment Shock As am constantly thinking about carpets and curtains Hmm So what are our thoughts on carpets for bedrooms - am thinking something that looks like seagrass but is actually wool so nicer underfoot - any recommendations? Want to get them fitted before we move in ideally as existing carpets are awful.

We're a bit in limbo house wise as vendor sorting out probate and other stuff so could be a while yet before we exchange.

Also not really liking all this colour blocking thats in all the mags at the moment - just wrong on me I think.

Dolcee - I got a nice white shirt - sort of stretchy cotton from Banana Republic in the sale last year.

traceybath · 26/01/2011 14:19

Oh and having watched Gypsy Wedding - I just think my clothes are too under-stated Wink

macmama · 26/01/2011 14:20

Oh exhaustednurse that is so nice!

I totally get what you say, I actually lost my fashion mojo for years on coming to London and becoming serious lawyer type, it was awful for my confidence! This thread is wonderful for helping me get dressed in the mornings and feeling self confident

Haha to the other funky munky barflies... we soooo stumbled over each other...
