I KNEW that was going to happen in Silent Witness.

Knew it.

hellsbelles · 25/01/2011 21:15

sorry Red - I meant the red dress being taken up to the right length.

But tbh I can't concentrate now - I'm Shock at gypsy weddings Grin

ApuskiDusky · 25/01/2011 21:16

Gah, we're watching Match of the Day

redllamayellowllama · 25/01/2011 21:19

Aah yes, but is low at the back and will reveal industrial bra. Shame.

Anyway, more importantly, gypsy weddings OMFG. Can't even work through what I think, am so Shock.

hf128219 · 25/01/2011 21:27

Kildare
Info here

My Kitchen Aid blew up 3 years ago - now sits unloved in the Pantry!!

NY Well done you on surviving the interviews. Any more news on the function?

Colleague still in hospital. Poor chap will be off for weeks - or longer. He has a 16 year old son too and only continues to work so he can see his son through Uni. Sad

Hells LOL re the Bic in the loos!

mrsjuan · 25/01/2011 21:28

Shock 'Sam's mum' (@Gypsy wedding people)

CHOOGIRL · 25/01/2011 21:31

bored of silent witness now, have turned over to Gypsy Wedding.

Am lost for words.

redllamayellowllama · 25/01/2011 21:31

Oh I know MrsJ. So, so bad. Think I preferred Maridol.

Your poor colleague hf Sad indeed.

CHOOGIRL · 25/01/2011 21:33

hf Just seen your post. Really sorry for your colleague. I lost a close colleague 3 years ago in similar circumstances. Will say a prayer for him tonight.

ApuskiDusky · 25/01/2011 21:33

Arsenal 3-0 if anyone cares (not me...)

Anyhow, apologies for a thread-long absence, I've been trying to work on the postgrad diploma I started before pregnancy then suspended when hyperemesis struck - if I don't finish it in the next month, I can't complete.

Sorry to hear about your colleague hf, hope he recovers well.

GeorginaWorsley · 25/01/2011 21:37

Don't know about anyone else here ladies, but I am quite looking forward to getting out of skinnies/leggings/boots combo.
I love wideleg trousers, especially in spring, with simple white vest and cardi.

notyummy · 25/01/2011 21:39

Sorry to hear that about your colleague HF.

Dh has emailed me to tell me that the dress code is calf length, covered shoulders, no pants and suspenders. Hmm Thanks for that love.....

hellsbelles · 25/01/2011 21:40

georgina - I'm afraid for me it will be huge pink nylon, with butterflies and lights.

Grin Mrsjuan...she really is er, amaaazing.

hf128219 · 25/01/2011 21:51

NY

Try googling the location + mess and dress code. It's amazing what is on the internet these days!

Thanks for all your kind words ladies. It brings home the fragility of life.

I am recording that Gypsy wedding thing - just out of curiosity....

Trying to catch up on Admin but would rather be watching Taggart! Also being recorded...

FritziGreenEyes · 25/01/2011 21:54

Vin "the national elf service"??? I'm intrigued. Tell us about your work outfits :-) sorry you are having a difficult time at work. Any chance you can limit exposure to nasty colleague?

Hf how terrible for your colleague...

Notyummy sounds like you did well in interview.

Hi dti and apuski!

Redllama those trousers are (cough, cough) different. But don't listen to me as I'm not really known for being fashion forward. Took me two years to finally try on a pair of skinnies.

Mrsjuan well done on exercising. I'll give early morning Ashtanga yoga another go tomorrow morning so better go to bed now.

AllBuggiedOut · 25/01/2011 22:02

Stamp!

fritzi there are accessories for the stand alone Kitchen Aid that shread/slice veggies. I've only ever used my mums, and then only do do cabbage, but it worked a treat. I have just the KA stand alone mixer and use it for cakes, pizza bases etc etc. Think I would also like a set of hand held beaters to replace some very elderly kenwood ones which I have. But The Kitchen Aid ones seem only to available in the US Hmm

roma did you talk to your DS's teacher? I really hope this nastiness passes quickly, and that the teacher has been able to reassure you. Just so upsetting.

GW I know what you mean, although thinking about SS clothes does make me realised how much there is that's (virtually) unworn in my wardrobe. Not to self; stop buying "useful basics" and concentrate on the fun stuff!

Didn't see much of Gok tonight, but caught a glimpse of the pringel skirt Brix picked out which I was rather drawn to...

GeorginaWorsley · 25/01/2011 22:08

Grin Hells
ABO too much grey in my wardrobe I have realised. My trouble is I decide I like something then overdose on it!
Had a rumage through my trousers yesterday but none seem 'current' ifyswim.

carciofi · 25/01/2011 22:16

Kildare, I have bought several times from Shopbop, very quick delivery and you can pay customs in advance.

Vin, sorry about the nasty colleague, you don't need that sh1t.

redllamayellowllama · 25/01/2011 22:28

Hope you enjoy early morning yoga Fritzi, sounds like a lovely way to start the day.

I tend to buy lots of statement bits and have nothing to actually wear on a day to day basis. Hence my linking to things like polka dot wide legs. In my head it was amazing but think the reality of my SS11 (weaning DD and continuing to assist DS with weeing in gutters) means Topshop can keep them. White skinnies it is then...

ApuskiDusky · 25/01/2011 22:36

Know the feeling red, my day to day wardrobe choice seems to be largely driven by what can cope with being sicked up over - and whenever I chance it with something delicate I get punished ...

I have managed to upset myself tonight looking at some photos of baby A from about 3 months ago - he looks so underweight Sad - it's odd how you just don't see it when you're in the middle of it.

Hells - hope you are on the mend, I used to suffer from similar infections, so uncomfortable.
Hf thats really sad about your colleague, hope he and his family gets lot of support during his recovery.

Thanks for the Kitchenaid/Magimix tips (sorry for the non S&B intrusion!). Whilst I would love a KA, I think I need more of a processor (that can also mix for baking) so Magimix is probably best. Unless I get both and use the lack of storage space as another reason to DH why we need an extension? (cunning plan hatching!)

Didnt get Gypsy Wedding programme over here but DM is running lots of pics and quotes so I understand all the Shock

On the subject of TV programmes, so you get The Big Bang Theory in the UK? Its a comedy about 4 nerdy but nice scientist guys that live opposite a pretty girl in an apartment block - v funny and well acted. Its on here at 8pm and is perfect wind-down TV.

Hopefully getting my iphone later and delivery of Pure coat. A good day!

OllieWollieWoo · 26/01/2011 07:40

DM running an article about stuff we buy and never wear - its like they have looked in my wardrobe!

Selected quotes:

The average woman has about 22 garments in her wardrobe that she will never wear but absolutely refuses to throw out. And despite these items taking up as much as 5 per cent of storage space, just one in eight women regularly clears out their wardrobes.
As many as one in nine say they would not dream of culling their wardrobe more than once

Jeans are the most common item of unworn clothes, with 88 per cent saying they own at least one pair that they would never be seen out in.
One in five hoard up to six pairs of shoes that will never be worn. And almost everyone owns at least one top they ?would not be seen dead in?.
More than half of women say that guilt over wasting money keeps them from throwing out unwanted clothes.
And 41 per cent insist they are planning to lose weight before getting some use out of their unworn outfits. Some 17 per cent are hoarding particular styles in the hope of a fashion revival.

notyummy · 26/01/2011 08:57

Morning all. Another day- another train! Getting the train to Nottingham this morning as we have a mass leaving do this PM (including my Boss) and I decided I would like the option of a couple of drinks! Wearing lace tights, black gathered skirt, cobalt blue silk top and Desigual black and White coat. Horrible day here.

Finding this week really tiring, with interviews and various commutes that I don't usually do. Suspect I am still getting over the bug last week as well.

Hope you all have good days- liking the sound of the early morning yoga!
