notyummy and pickledsiblings - I'm going to Mac next week. You pay £25 for an hour long session (half an hour at the weekend) then they either just do your make-up or give you a lesson in whatever style you ask for. DH bought me a brush set for Christmas and I'm not sure what half of them are for so the girl told me to bring them along. You can then use your £25 against any purchases so if you are planning to buy any make-up then it's a free makeover. I've never met a Mac assistant who wasn't really lovely and approachable.

notyummy · 06/01/2011 18:27

Ladies - I have PMed all of you who have said you are coming to the meet-up and want accommodation - please reply. If you haven't received a message please let me know!

OllieWollieWoo · 06/01/2011 18:41

OOoh petitedonkey - thats great information re MAC. I'm def up for a session.

I need some nude heeled shoes and as there are no Russell & Bromley stores etc over here, I found these in, erm, Next. Thoughts please - esp as I have no shoe mojo whatsover and therefore cannot discern if they are nice, ok for the money or cheap and nasty. Should I hold out for R&B?
these courts or peep toe

Bonsoir · 06/01/2011 18:44

OWW - the second pair look smarter but (a) I cannot tell whether that is just a question of photography (b) I never wear peep-toe (my feet are different sizes so I am toeless on the right side) so have no experience!

Meggles76 · 06/01/2011 18:47

Can I join wise and avid??

I will continue with my skinnies and breton tops because it is a look I like and it suits me.

However, may give the flares a go with my sky high wedges for a different look.

notyummy · 06/01/2011 18:51

OWW - I also think the second look smarter.

Welcome Meggles - go on, give the flares a go!! How tall are you? Apparently this makes a difference....being relatively giant I wouldn't really know!

OWW - both pairs are plastic and I think you'll find better in LK Bennett or R&B or even m&s perhaps.

Also - can you get the uk version of Harpers magazine because there's a fab feature on the lovely Mr Firth - I could get another one and send to you if not - let me know Smile

Bonsoir - how truly awful about your DP's friend.

Vin - I only really like opaques or patterned tights - definitely not black sheer - way too 'cougar' as my DH would say.

Which as an aside is what he thinks we'll all be up to when we meet-up Grin

AllBuggiedOut · 06/01/2011 19:29

Am envious of your IO frocks - they never have anything in a decent autumn colour!

Welcome meggles. Love the idea of flares with hasbeens but fear I could never pull it off!

I think as long as you avoid opaques vin you'll be fine.

bonsoir it would be rude not to!

Can't work out if Asos is being weird or I'm going bonkers. I thought I saw a potential pair of timberland biker boots in brown on there yesterday, reduced to £60. But they seem to have disappeared today Confused

Right, off to check out Anthropologie as suggested on previous thread, before DS1 returns from Beavers...

Yes, could be sold out vin. Or I dreamt them Grin I think you should go for nude (so to speak...) on the grounds that you need to wear something, opaques not formal enough and you don't feel good in sheer. Whatever, you will look and sound fabulous Smile

pickledsiblings · 06/01/2011 19:38

vin, what's your interview for again?

OWW keep looking for your nude shoes. We'll help you find a better pair.

notyummy · 06/01/2011 19:38

I think you will be okay with opaques. As long as everything else is formal, then the overall impression will be v professional.

AllBuggiedOut · 06/01/2011 19:41

Is this nice?

ollie nude courts in suede???

hf128219 · 06/01/2011 19:56

Vin I think it's all to do with how you accessorise the outfit.

What about this

Just to make you smile! Grin

pickledsiblings · 06/01/2011 19:58

Fritzi, well done. I just saw those exact shoes on the KG website but realised they didn't do international delivery so didn't post.

Vin, don't fret too much about your med interview wardrobe. As long as your intelligence passion comes across which I am sure it will, you'll be fine.
