dinosaur · 30/09/2005 12:14

Ooh that's a relief ggglimpopo - was getting quite teary at the thought of binning the Converse!

motherinferior · 30/09/2005 12:15

Enid · 30/09/2005 12:16

yeah there's trainers and then there are trainers - nothing too white.
I like skirts and boots too but find it a complete trial to get boots to zip up over my (perfectly normally sized) calves...

dinosaur · 30/09/2005 12:21

I don't suppose you'd like to buy some size 6 1/2 formal cowboy boots from M&S, worn for 10 minutes, at a very good price?

They fit over my calves, so I tell you, they'll fit yours!

flamebat · 30/09/2005 12:21

Still not got rid of em then?

dinosaur · 30/09/2005 12:22

No...which is a shame as I have seen some in Clarks that I want instead...which also fit over my fat calves...

expatinscotland · 30/09/2005 12:22

NEXT has some nice trainers, if you're a trainer person, but I must say I wasn't impressed with the rest of their shoe collection this Autumn.

mrsmoons · 30/09/2005 12:22

Thanks Enid! I like my uniform, and I feel good in it - but I'm sure my role in the schhol playground is to make all the yummy mummies feel superior

sansouci · 30/09/2005 12:23

flamebat, go and swipe those thankyous from your mummy & get busy!

QueenEagle · 30/09/2005 12:25

Skater trousers/Jeans, t-shirt and skater style trainers for me too. Might be a bit boring but it's comfy and I like it.

Better than the mums I see wearing gathered skirts with white sports socks and flat black shoes. yeuch!

harpsichordcarrier · 30/09/2005 12:25

not my size, but please do tell which boots are fat calf friendly because I have tried on approx 50 pairs and it is really starting to annoy me now..

dinosaur · 30/09/2005 12:26

Have you tried the ones in M&S? I posted a link on my boots thread - I'll try and find it. They are lovely.

flamebat · 30/09/2005 12:27

Promise faithfully to do them over the weekend.

dinosaur · 30/09/2005 12:27

oh they ARE nice and they deliver too...

basketcase · 30/09/2005 12:33

why oh why oh why did I read this??? As if I wasn?t feeling bad about my wardrobe (lack of) already?!!!
Whilst I agree with all of you fashionistas out there regarding frumpy fleece/jeans/trainers look....I still do it
Why? - overweight and so have small wardrobe (in that denial phase where I refuse to try anything on "until I have lost at least a stone" to avoid facing up to my current dress size). Frankly, getting my DD1 to school on time, with clean, ironed uniform, eaten breakfast, brushed hair/teeth,school book bag, library book read and signed, workbook, lunchbag, drinks bottle, pe kit, swimming bag etc etc etc, let alone kitted out DD2 ready to go, I am lucky if I have remembered to brush my hair on the way out of the door, let alone modelled my "separated" mixed and matched to perfection first. FGS.
Now I really am feeling cr@p about myself
AAAAARRRRRGGGGGHHHHHHH
I wish trinny and susannah would do (free) private makeovers that didn?t involve public national humiliation. Would be tempted to sort myself out then and lose a bit of weight, get myself looking trendy and up to date again..
better go grab my trainers and microfleece jacket to pickup DD1 then I suppose.

Fio2 · 30/09/2005 12:33

walking boots and waterproofs round some parts

flamebat · 30/09/2005 12:38

You can get some really nice stuff for bigger ladies though... I know it would mean accepting a new size, but being happy with how you look in the size you are now might lift you enough to lose the weight (does that make sense? Thinking along the lines of weight loss is nigh on impossible when you are very low).

Buying just a couple of things that flatter you might boost you to do more.

flamebat · 30/09/2005 12:39

My wardrobe may make Cod cry, but I am happy and confident in it. When I was bigger than I wanted and wearing the few items I had that fitted, I was miserable.
