No comment......ahem.

A way to know: tell complete strangers that you've got 4 children, and register the degree of surprise. It is a measure of how stylish you look.

harpsichordcarrier · 29/09/2005 18:25

oh Christ there's a uniform?? why does no one tell me anything?
you'll be telling me there's a sodding mission statement next.
I wouldn't mind a canteen though.

mykidsmum · 29/09/2005 18:31

I used to at first but I also climbed out of it a few years back.Am quite young though don't know if that makes a difference

compo · 29/09/2005 18:32

who cares what you wear, it's inside that counts

BlondeinLondon · 29/09/2005 18:33

oh dear... apart from the fleece and the scrunchie I am in the uniform
I do accessorise with a baseball cap when visiting certain less affluent parts of town in order to blend in more with the locals!

No - I don't wear a fleece or trainers, I don't have a bob & only tie my hair back when I have to at work.

Have to say that also I don't own any "tweedy weaves" & am quite glad of it !

uh no! don't own any trainers, scrunchies or fleeces! maybe this is aimed more at stay at home mums, although most of the ones i know don't wear those type of clothes, this is obviously trinny and susannahs somewhat outdated opinion of what mums look like.

that sounds terrible now that i read it . but i know very few mums who dress like that, maybe i just know a very stylish bunch of women! LOL

swedishmum · 29/09/2005 22:26

Last week I was too embarrassed in Waitrose to speak to a friend's gorgeous stepson in my horrible clothes and went home without key ingredients for dinner as he was in that lane. Too too sad of me.
Since then I've been trying much harder although I still wear dodgy clothes for the 7.30am bus stop run! I'm going to wear all my unworn shoes over the next 2 weeks - imagine me in the mud (we're very rural) in my LK Bennets. I'm giving it a week before the rumours about an affair start (dh works abroad).

Thanks for introducing me to the Kew website. There might be hope for me yet!

mousie · 30/09/2005 11:33

so what is the solution to constant trainer-wearing? I am always in mine - because my life involves lugging buggies and running up and down hill all day between nursery school and schools etc.. Even flat boots aren't as comfy. Also I get through nice shoes so quickly if I do wear them for my daily walking-schedule. Anyone know of a trainer alternative??

teeavee · 30/09/2005 11:38

mousie, you sound like you need trainers, and you wear them for the right reaons, so don't let susannah and trinny intimidate you into wearing unsuitable footwear, tell 'em to bog off

iota · 30/09/2005 11:39

I really can't see the point in dressing up for the school run -- you just have to go home and put on your old clothes to do the cleaning if you are SAHM.

Bleachy pants anyone -- Donbean?

I have always been useless at walking with heels - I stumble and my feet hurt. Flat boots tend to look odd on me.

Enid · 30/09/2005 11:59

trainers are fine

skaty ones with jeans look good I think

Enid · 30/09/2005 12:00

I wear converse with my jeans

and a fleece often

and I am sorry but I look very nice 95% of the time so ner

mrsmoons · 30/09/2005 12:04

I loved the T and S dress over trousers look (I am skinny and boobless) but someone (cod?) said in another thread it was v old hat - I don't do the mummy uniform but what can I wear instead of my beloved dresses over trews look??

Enid · 30/09/2005 12:05

I am sure dresses over trews looks very cool on you and I would stick with it

motherinferior · 30/09/2005 12:06
