Actually, I was looking rather dapper this morning cos I dragged my arse out swimming first thing so got a chance to get ready in peace! My hair was not tied back today

Have I really only moaned about him once? Blimey.

I think of a fleece as being a bit like the apron my grandmother used to wear. For example I wear a light one over my work clothes for breakfast on a work day before leaving for work - only need to peel it off and put suit jacket on as I go out of the door. Similarly don't wear it to do school drop off, but put it on when I get in and am going to do some cooking with DD. Keeps you warm and washes really easily - what's not to like.

Look on www.llbean.com - brilliant selection - many fitted, lots of different colours - the fitness fleeces are very cheap.

Got a bit carried away on a "fleece thing" when we were on holiday in Maine in February once and bought some fleece trousers. Chavtastic!

Dino, I agree that is unusually wonderful. I will be next in line after cod, please. I must admit to some bitterness in my last comments as dp is generally to be found in baggy, holey, loungers. WTF are 'loungers', anyway? They are just pyjama bottoms dressed up as real trousers as far as I can see.

But it's good to know other people feel the same way. When I read those 50s things about "put on a clean dress, have a nice meal waiting, and smile as you ask about his day, before moaning on about yours," and everyone is tittering or tutting at how out of date it is, I always think "Well, yes, of course, it is just the thoughtful thing to do." I don't manage to do it most days, but I do think it's something to aspire to (along with having a child who sleeps at night and making my own jam ).

Gobbledispook · 03/10/2005 12:37

Blimey Anchovy LL BEan really takes me back to when I did summer camp in the US - everyone shopped in there!!

basketcase · 03/10/2005 12:46

hey, flamebat
yep - I went shopping on Sunday. Left my children with grandparents and dragged DH with his wallet round the shops.
Got a lovely pair of black boots, long length smart/casual skirt in a nice plummy colour. Two snuggly jumpers - black and one a moss green colour. Bought some new undies that fit (finally). No more squeezing into uncomfortable size 10/12s when a 14/16 looks and feels better. Couldn?t find a jacket I liked that fitted and was up to date. Oh well - will just have to go out again and spend some more
Actually - I quite enjoyed it. Last item of clothing I bought for myself was some pjs in sale after last christmas (and i hate them). Lovely just to accept my size and buy something that I feel comfy in and look ok in. Got my hair appt for Thurs afternoon (soonest she could fit me in).
At this rate I might even feel good enough about myself to consider attending a mumsnet meet up....

flamebat · 03/10/2005 18:19

Yay!!!!

I'm all excited cos Next are now selling bras in a decent size, so I can buy pretty undies at decent price.

hocuspocusdiplodocus · 04/10/2005 09:45

What do you call decent size flamebat? Do you mean in larger cup sizes?

flamebat · 04/10/2005 09:45

Yup... not mammothy mamoth size, but up to a 38F, which is sooo much better than about the D that they were doing.

flamebat · 04/10/2005 09:46

The first time in ages that I've found pretty bras, that will fit, for £12 odd

hocuspocusdiplodocus · 04/10/2005 11:07

That is very good news as I am always either a DD or an E! Ooh, I can feel some lunchtime shopping coming on...

flamebat · 04/10/2005 13:50

Just been to my nearest Next (quite a big one) and none in the store, might just be a catalogue thing

MrsSpoon · 04/10/2005 13:51

They are in the new Christmas catalogue.

Flum · 05/10/2005 22:16

I read this and worried that I had let myself go.
So I wore a cocktail dress for most of the morning on Sunday. DH said I looked very nice and did not comment that it was impractical for everyday wear. How wierd is that!

hocuspocusdiplodocus · 06/10/2005 16:33

PMSL Flum!

Tortington · 06/10/2005 17:58

MABS · 06/10/2005 18:56

I always think you look particularly fetching in that one Cam...especially with the hood up.
