LM-Don't you miss your thread too! Have told you what will go with your gilet thingy!

puddle · 29/09/2005 14:59

Everytime I see the word fleece I think of the arctic wolf fleeces Paul had to flog on the shopping channel on the Apprentice.

just cut the jewellery off

Bozza · 29/09/2005 15:01

I have a fleece - I wear it for doing the gardening. DH has one that he is obsessed with. We were going to a wedding night do and I had a brief panic that he was going to wear it (due to the fact he had it on in the car on the way there, so justified) and tried to tactfully suggest he didn't.
To which he replied "do you really think I'd wear a fleece to a wedding?"
"err....yes".

I have read the T and S thing now. Their diagnosis is good but remedy is rubbish. Buy some more t shirts and wear patterns to cover the sick. Not helpful. And they are obsessed with those three quarter length coats.

laligo · 29/09/2005 15:07

flared or bootcut jeans, or a knee-length a-line skirt, little tops and cardis, boots or trainers and i have a waisted coat. get asked if i'm a student. you can't win.

cupcakes · 29/09/2005 15:08

cod - why is kew dreaded? Was going to request their catalogue. Aren't they a cheaper version of jigsaw?

flamebat · 29/09/2005 15:10

I look like an art student most of the time - sometimes I get a withering "have you never grown up?" look, but I'm happy and comfy (and not a fleece in sight )

Eaney · 29/09/2005 15:12

Thanks for the link Cod.

Dropinthe · 29/09/2005 15:18

Kew don't look that cheap to me!-then again, I'm a TK Maxx kinda lady!

Wordsmith · 29/09/2005 15:18

What is wrong with jeans and fleeces? Surely it's the cut that matters - they don't always have to be naff.

I tend to go for bootcut jeans which look good with - er - boots and trainers. I have had to start wearing those slip-on type trainers cos of all the other mums at school having 'no shoes' rules in their houses. Grrr.

What do you mean exactly when you say fleeces - do you mean zip up hiking type coat-y things or sweatshirty things?

They keep you warm - that's what matters when you're shivering in a gale force 5 on the playground.

I don't really do skirts in the winter. I'm starting a 'proper' job soon in someone else's office (ie not my back room) so will have to wear smart clothes! The thought makes me lie there at night sweating....

Dropinthe · 29/09/2005 15:24

You can be warm without resorting to Fleece-it is just so very unflattering in my book-Don't get me wrong,if I was up the Penines or down the Dales, I would be sporting a nice Millets' Fleece but not anywhere else!

(This is because my mother is a fleece wearer most of the year and I am NOT turning into my mother for the sake of warmth, money, nor love!)

Just say NO!

bundle · 29/09/2005 15:24

can't wear wool, brings me out in a rash

ncq palmers cocoa butter (the one that looks a bit like lard) v good for avoiding chafing

Miaou · 29/09/2005 15:27

hehe - before I opened the thread I thought: jeans, tshirt and fleece. And I was right! And - I've just been into town wearing just that!!! But I don't care - my jeans are bootleg petite (ie not that "I've just hacked off the bottom six inches" look), my t-shirt is a long-sleeved fitted one that's fairly trendy (v neck with the white bit that looks like you've got another top underneath), and my shoes are suede slip-on things that are quite fashionable still. OK the fleece is a bit mumsy, but it's my Coastguard fleece and very practical (lots of zip pockets, lined etc).

In an ideal world I would have a pair of really smart boots and a long swishy skirt, and probably a tweedy jacket - but I'll have to win the lottery first
