How does it perform on greasy hair? If I don't wash mine every day I look like I've pulled a 12 hour shift in a chip shop!

brimfull · 14/12/2010 22:33

dd's friend 18yr old lad just tried it and wants to buy it off me!

AitchTwoOh · 14/12/2010 22:42

my concern with greasy hair would be keeping the brush clean. does it detach? i haven't investigated.

oneortwo · 14/12/2010 23:25

oh.
very underwhelmed Sad
doesn't do much and takes AAAGES
not the wonder product I was hoping for. hair just looks frizzy, get a better result from just chucking head upside down and blasting with blow drier!

Ok purely because of this thread I have got one from argos yesterday. I have v long fine dull lank hair. The kind that still has a frizz even when greasy. Will use it later today and report back. I normally just towel dry my hair and give it a quick blast with hairdryer if I have time - no products so will test without product to see make sure its the babyliss and not any product that's giving me any va va voom.

Did do a quick test on greasy fringe this morning and it did give it a nice smooth look reminiscent of the Jennifer Anniston Friends hair do. Have to say i was extremely impressed with the size of the barrel but then again I don't have much to compare with at home Wink.

If it does the trick then I'm buying up the remaining stock in the country to give out as pressies so ladies you have been warned.

Mine has just arrived. I've got a similar one I've had for about a decade which has been very good on my long straight hair and have big hopes for it's replacement. I've ordered the root crimper too - my hair needs lots of help.

Any one recommend any products they use with it for added volume?

mumto2andnomore · 15/12/2010 10:45

Washed my hair this morning, part dried it with hairdryer then used the big hair and agree its fab ! My hair feels all bouncy and shiny ! Love it !

HowsTheSerenity · 15/12/2010 10:51

They just keep getting more and more expensive! Amazon only has 5 left. Argos has
Boots has them at 44.79 GBP. Anyone other ideas?

HowsTheSerenity · 15/12/2010 11:01

37.99 GBP online at Comet!!

pinkestpink · 15/12/2010 11:04

argos was £35 on monday Confused theyve seen the thread!

oneortwo · 15/12/2010 11:10

Mine is from argos, the catalogue prices isn't the real price when you put it through, its still a bit cheaper (was yesterday). But if its gone up I'd consider selling mine Grin

Still not impressed though Hmm suppose that'll learn me for doing stuff MN tells me!

HowsTheSerenity · 15/12/2010 11:16

Comet have sold out but same price at Currys.
Damn shop people reading the forum and jacking the prices up.
Just bought one anyway. Just hope it arrives before I leave. They don't seem to exist in Australia!

chickenlickin · 15/12/2010 11:50

ok i've been convinced, just ordered one from currys online. £37 including delivery. They reckon will be here in 3-5 working days. . . hummmmmm . . .

tiokiko · 15/12/2010 11:53

I tried to suppress my swooshy hair envy yesterday but couldn't.

Checked on Argos and it had done down from £45 to £35 so I thought it was a sign, reserved and collected this morning Grin.

Have just had a quick go and I reckon it's pretty good, definitely boofed my hair (in a good way) and nice and shiny.

Don't think I have gone all Hillary Clinton (yet) but will see what it's like properly tomorrow and if it still works without using GHDs first.

pinkestpink · 15/12/2010 12:50

just used it but not on washed hair- im definitely doing it wrong because i was getting all twisted and tangled as i expected!! it does require some precision and sectioning especially as ive got long hair, will cut it, i think will do better with layers

brimfull · 15/12/2010 12:52

well have just tried it and its fab!!!

nearly had a fucking stroke trying to get the purple cover off the end though
whats the trick with that

couldnt be having that stress every morning

brimfull · 15/12/2010 12:53

think i will still have to use root boost mousse though on my crown
otherwise my hair is ultra smooth and shiny and it was so easy to use

oneortwo · 15/12/2010 13:08

are people finding that its working better on slightly dirty hair? was pants on freshly washed!

pointsmakeprizes · 15/12/2010 13:10

Ladies - I AM IN LOVE!!!

It's the closest I've come to salon hair. I just spent 20 mins with it - it took a while to work out which way was best to use it. I didn't use any product and I have lovely smooth hair though not as much volume as I had hoped for but I think with product that should do the trick. It feels very soft and swingy. And it got rid of most of the frizz without having to use any gloss. I think with more practice I can get nice loose curls into it as well. Even if you are not rotating the barrel you can get just curl it up and heat it like rollers.

I have very long fine hair. I found the best way was to put the barrel at the end of a section of hair then twist the ends round it then press one button to curl it up leave it for a few seconds and then press the other button to curl it back down. I tried to do it the way they do it in salons where they roll it up and then pull it down and then roll it up again ifyswim but I found my hair getting tangled. And if it does don't panic just remember to press the button that goes the other way and it should come out ok if not just turn it off and you should be able to do it manually. I have used other contraptions in the past where my hair has got stuck and i've had to cut it off.

Also if you have long hair, you can hold your hair with your hand mid way and just do the last half of your hair so you get a nice swish at the end. Not sure if I am explaining myself properly. I did find it hard to get to the roots, i think to do that you would need to section your hair and it would take a while to get it all done properly.

I gave my hair a blast with the hair dryer before I started so it was semi dry but it does get very hot so I think you could do it from wet though not sure how good that would be for your hair.

I think i could get a nice effect with 5 mins use for day to day and then if I am going out I could have party hair in 20 mins.

Def a must have for holidays and breaks away. I got mine at argos for £35 yesterday but they are flying out of the shops - don't tihnk about it just get one and you can always return it if you don't get on with it.

oneortwo · 15/12/2010 13:13

mine didn't get very hot or powerful, a dud maybe?

pointsmakeprizes · 15/12/2010 13:13

Can people who have the crimper thing come back and tell us about it pretty please?

pointsmakeprizes · 15/12/2010 13:16

It wasn't powerful but my hair was very hot and I burned my fingers when I accidently touched the barrel. It has 2 settings - did you use on the max setting?
