bloss If you go to R&P first thing it shouldn't be a problem to get measured. I never make an appointments and they can always fit me in. Only know the King's Rd store though.

LetThemEatCake · 03/12/2010 15:50

yes yes the topshop one is the one I tried (in black and pale pink) in my shameless changeroom flouncing session!! looked rather good (no pun)

ain't no spring chicken though, sadly

Now, I don't want to be a killjoy but can't you adjust your bra by yourself for about 10p by sewing an extra hook a bit further along?

I need a big cashmere jumper - may go to a couple of charity shops tomorrow for a look (or have a go with one of dh's?)

I have a dilemma. I'm supposed to get Eurostar at the crack of dawn on monday to go on a course until Thursday evening, but I'm afraid of getting snowbound and stuck over there. What do you think? The course is near London: Hemel Hempstead way. I really want to go on the course as it includes all kind of coaching and stuff that may help me decide what to do about my career dilemmas. It's very timely.

Fleecy · 03/12/2010 15:55

mumsnut Top Shop did a nude one last year for £85. I tried it on twice and even bought it but took it back because I couldn't see myself wearing it more than once.

cake thanks for your kind hat offer - I will have to decline the 'washed' hat though as I am quite happy with the equally classy Peacocks version that adorned my head most of this summer Grin

It's our nanny's last day today Sad so DH and I have been out for lunch. Am now overly full and going to have a quick nap before she leaves for good at 5pm...

Fleecy · 03/12/2010 15:56

Ah I see they still do the nude colour - gorgeous.

carciofi · 03/12/2010 16:39

Romana, I guess watch the weather in London over the weekend? Are the Timberland Atrus boots wide around the calf? I tried on these and they are too wide.

Timberland free delivery FSTSRUK091.

Tracey, yes, my hands are horribly dry.

Fleecy, have you found a new nanny?

Esher, I am not mad about the boots, sorry.

Have got loads of clothes sorted and packed, phew! Much easier when you don't have a little person following you around unpacking.

Bonsoir · 03/12/2010 16:43

Roma - can you not book a return plane ticket for security? I'm sure your DH with his far flung day trips must have zillions of air miles he can donate to a good cause?

eshermummy - yes, my life is impossibly luxurious Grin dons rubber gloves and apron, brandishes Cillit Bang.

blossoming · 03/12/2010 17:04

London girls, what's it like, honestly? What do I wear on feet tomorrow? Any snow, slush? (Hopeful emoticon as snow boots will otherwise have to be surgically removed).

Thank you si much fir your kind words fritzi
notyummy, your parcel is on it's way.

blossoming · 03/12/2010 17:07

Try again: Thank you so much fritzi.

Fleecy · 03/12/2010 17:12

No new nanny - DS is going to start pre-school for three mornings in January and five mornings from September - DD is already there five mornings and will go to school in September so we're going to try to work around that and do less work in the day/more in the evening, seeing how we go. By the time we'd advertised, interviewed etc it didn't seem worth it. Still sad though!

Cleaner starts Tuesday though Grin

Yes tracey skin is awful. Feels so horribly tight and stretched despite taking extra care over it and being super gentle.

Good work on the packing and glad to hear all is well with the scan carciofi

cake is your sis staying with you?

VerityBrulee · 03/12/2010 17:16

Tracey do you have that brora code? Took boys to the park to build snowman and have never had such cold feet and hands in my life, despite thermal tights and sheepskin insoles. Need to stock up on cashmere socks and gloves for layering. Park did look v pretty though.

Also need snowboots with grip are pavements here are like ice rinks, and there is no sign of a thaw until next Friday Shock NY I feel your pain, day 6 of being snowed in, I am going mad. Marsha dc have been off school all week and looks like continuing well into next week now!

Will have to do all christmas shopping online, and hope that it will make it through the post.

Bloss etsy is a great idea for you, lots of UK sellers there, but www.folksy.com/ is good too.

Bonsoir do give us daily updates, it is lovely to live the chic, Parisienne life vicariously through you Smile

Carciofi great to hear that all went well at scan, good to hear that your dads business is surviving. Fingers crossed for him.

carciofi · 03/12/2010 17:31

Thanks, it is a relief to have the scan over. :)

Bloss, it is quite slippy but I'd say they've cleared the paths in central London. I am going to wear flat boots, I think. I have been wearing old Cole Haan hiking boots for the last day or two and I hate them!

hellsbelles · 03/12/2010 17:41

bloss - main bits are pretty clear (but slushy)...when I have to walk a long way I wear uggs Blush but when I went out yesterday evening and had just a short walk I was fine with flat pirate boots.

LTEC - yes - we will have to draw lots on who wears what (though you will have to win as you found them all first!)

Roma - that is just far too practical and sensible Wink - actually the proper mend does look much better than any DIY effort I would have made. Can't really work out exactly how she's done it (I've had a few done already and now awaiting other ones)...but I think she takes whole thing off and reduces size.

Right - must go and nit check DS again. I'm screaming mad at all the lazy lovely other parents who just aren't checking - the school is constantly infested Sad

blossoming · 03/12/2010 17:54

Aargh, I don't know what to wear!!!!!

Another day without shredding but maybe a 90 minute dynamic yoga class counts too? Probably not good enough to be rewarded a star by notyummy but maybe I can at least look up from the cloud to the rainbow? Smile

cake Your wise words about DC's behaviour really helped me the other day to put it all into perspective and believe it or not DD has stopped the constant whinging and screaming. Have spent a lot of time cuddling and reading books and not doing much really. Guess she is sometimes just exhausted after almost 7 hours in kindergarten. So thanks again! I feel a lot better but I know that I have to eat better and sleep more. I also used to take Floradix and have accupuncture, don't know why I stopped really. Can really make a difference to your well-being and energy levels I think.
Your birthday cake delivery sounds fantastic. Hope DS has a lovely birthday at the weekend and enjoys his cake too! Hope you'll soon feel better. Could you have an early night?

zembo Good idea to substitute party bags with a book. Hope I'll remember to do that for DD's birthday next year.

abo Have washed Gap dress on wool program in washing machine too and it was ok.

bonsoir Your party last night sounds great! Glad you had fun.

fleecy I also felt sad when our nanny left us when DD started at kindergarten. She had started working for us when DD was 5 months. Had a visit from one of our former babysitters and it was lovely to see how DD's face lit up and how close they still are.

carciofi Must be really hard for your dad to keep his business going.

bloss Don't wear snowboots to London. If the pavements are icy just hop in a cab. You really deserve to have a fantastic day tomorrow after all the work you have done!

LetThemEatCake · 03/12/2010 18:09

bloss - my standard uniform this week has been these layers thermal camisole, l/s tee, fitted cashmere sweater, baggy cashmere sweater, large scarf, North Face Arctic Parka, cashmere wristwarmers, boots with jeggings/ black rats tucked in and worn over tights. Sometimes knitted hat.

I am still effing freezoid but it's that cold from within, bc I'm fluey. Sad

HTH?

lack of post is driving me INSANE!! cards for ds1, my bloss parcel, thermals for all the family, my HH dress. Humph.

Fleecy no, my mother is starting a 5-week house sit next week for a friend who is heading south for a chunk of winter so my sister will stay mostly with her. TG. I need a break from family. Lovely to have them close by but in my house, it's getting too much. Wasn't so bad in summer but I am hating it now.

Party bags are done Smile Cake after the dc are in bed, I think.

FritziGreenEyes · 03/12/2010 18:10

Your name is very festive everything Xmas Smile

MarshaBrady · 03/12/2010 18:18

Verity oh that sounds difficult! Ds' terms feel so short already that I can't bear it when the school is shut (only one day so far, so not too bad). Plus I get nothing else done so it feels very different to one in school and one baby at home.

How is your college course? Smile Do you have loads to do?

tethersjinglebellend · 03/12/2010 18:37

Right you lot- does anyone own a VW Anglomania dress? Is it shit or as lovely as I think it is?

My finger is hovering over 'proceed to checkout' and I cannot justify it. But they only have one in my size left.

Anyone got a mywardrobe code?

Gah. Sorry. Desperate.

blossoming · 03/12/2010 18:38

Thanks ltec and fritzi. I will be warm in shops, hairdressers and tube for sure. Ankle boots it is. Snowboots for the car.

traceybath · 03/12/2010 18:41

I have 2 anglomanias tethers and they are lovely and flattering. Go on do it Smile

MarshaBrady · 03/12/2010 18:42

Tethers I do, with big print and meant to be figure hugging (bit loose now). It is very nice indeed. You need a code, there IS one around...

will see if a search finds it

AllBuggiedOut · 03/12/2010 18:47

Thanks LTEC but actually meant this shift (which btw if it does wash well is a lovely easy layering everyday dress). Has anybody braved it?

Love the ostrich!

And tethers I have this anglomania and I am very happy with it; the gathering at the top hangs nicely and has a good amount of structure to it IYSWIM. I'd love to try one with more draping as this one is very clingy so requires some fairly industrian underwear...

Off now, think DS1 has chicken pox Sad

MarshaBrady · 03/12/2010 18:47

My-Wardrobe code is XTYWBY and it is valid until midnight on 7 Dec. Carciofi hope you don't mind as it is your lovely code!
