Marking my place. We have enough snow here to look pretty, but everything seems to be working ok. I have no food at all today, so I hope the supermarkets are stocked. It hadn't occurred to me that might be a problem Blush.

Love the title btw.

ny that skirt looks like a Halloween costume.

cake I would also have a go at machine washing the blouse on a 20 degree hand wash cycle. No harm trying.

LetThemEatCake · 02/12/2010 07:53

just a quickie before I brave venturing out (wish me luck if I have to abandon the car on the return journey and cajole 3 whingey children to walk uphill through the snow, argh - well 2 , as I would carry L, obviously..)

I think I have PMed everyone re meet up. However, if you are planning to come and have not had a PM from me, please PM me so that I can send you details.

For all who said they are not able to come, it's a shame and we hope to see you next time. Maybe at the "W&A Turns One" bash in January...?

hope all poorly dc get better soon and that everyone is warm enough.

thanks also for advice re blouse will give it a whirl. Clothes and kids, argh. Still, better nice things stained than to wear fleeces.

Morning all - third day of school shut here. Have ordered this to help keep my spirits up.

Am going to ask my parents to buy me some Hunters for christmas, complete with wellie socks. So, what colour should I ask for? Navy or chocolate? TIA!

eshermummy · 02/12/2010 08:06

Quite a lot of snow overnight here - maybe 3 inches, and still snowing.
DD1's school and dd2's nursery both closed.
DH has just set off to work (driving to Canary Wharf Shock). Last year when we had a similar snowfall overnight he managed to go 2 miles in about 30 minutes before turning round and it then took him a further 2.5 hours to do the same 2 miles back home!
But he won't listen to me and is insisting that central London will probably be clear of snow (yes, it probably will be clear IF you can get that far!) and that he must struggle in.........
Have asked him to call if he turns around as i need a few things from Waitrose and there is no way I am taking the car out in this. Running low on supplies here too Roma. Have a big Ocado booked for 7am tomorrow (fingers crossed) but could do with some fresh custard for the apple & blackberry crumble I have cooked for later!

notyummy · 02/12/2010 08:08

Quick whinge - will catch up later.

MORE FECKING SNOW!!

A whole load last night, with a lot forecast for today.

So over it.

At the moment DDs school isn't on the closure list, although it was shut yesterday. I am going to be seriously unimpressed if I get there and it is shut!

eshermummy · 02/12/2010 08:15

Love the title btw LTEC. sung to tune of "Hark the Herald angels sing" no?

LOL at ABO keeping spirits up with purchases. that's exactly how I feel about the £50 My W voucher!

I have a small confession to make, I made another Outnet purchase last night Blush. I am addicted I tell you, addicted
Tracey did your Temperley arrive and was it a keeper?
I have had a bit of a revelation on the Outnet front - I always scour it very late at night which is silly as all the best bits are gone. Tracey always get great pickings but I notice she is often up with the lark. Early bird catches the worm and all that. New resolution to only shop Outnet in the mornings!

geordieminx · 02/12/2010 08:36

Hello ladies.

Thought I would pop back as felt very Blush posting and running.

I'm probably going to have a wee bit more time to post, as I finish up work next Friday (given notice 3 weeks before xmas...mice Hmm), but its all good. Communte was taken 1 1/2 hours+ every morning and night, so wasnt getting to see C at all.

Congrats to Bunny - all 3 of your girls are absolutely beautiful.

Snow is ridiculous here as Kristina and Rip will agree, getting on for 50cm in the garden now... sick of clearing the cars and drive. Thankfully Dh has gone to work, and ds has gone to nursery, we were all at home on Tuesday - it was a pleasant day Blush

Had bought these to go with black dress for xmas piss up conference in Oxford but the fecking thing was cancelled due to the weather, also meaning my planned trip to Bicester was also cancelled. Gutted.

Tracey you are indeed right, although I tried it on again yesterday and it appears to have shrunk a wee bit. Or maybe thats just wishful thinking.

Had a fab trip to Dublin 2 weeks ago, stayed at the Westbury Hotel which I can totally recommend. It was right on Grafton Street, so great for shopping/bars. Had a couple of hours in Brown Thomas, they had some beautiful Mulberrys and Labountins which I was sorely tempted by (christmas present to me) but with the euro being so rubbish it bumped the price up loads, so really couldnt justify it... very wise given I lost job 3 days later.

Right, have probably bored you all to death now, so I'll tootle off, esp as I am supposed to be working from home today, but promise to try and get back more regularly.

Librashavinganotherbiscuit · 02/12/2010 08:38

LTEC good luck for your journey

ABO like that necklace. I would go for chocolate wellies but it depends on what colours the rest of your wardrobe is!

esher what was your outnet purchase?

Thanks for posting the blog links carciofi and hope the snow doesn't stop your scan happening!

I am rationing DS milk consumption (no seconds of drink or cereal) so I have enough for tea but apart from that we are stocked up enough with dry provisions to last a couple of days, more worried about the nappy situation.

Librashavinganotherbiscuit · 02/12/2010 08:39

sorry to hear about your job geordieminx

traceybath · 02/12/2010 08:47

Esher - no temperley here yet - they do seem rather slow on delivering. To get the best outnet buys you need to check the site at 10am on tuesday and thursday as thats when the new stock hits the site [obsessed].

DH has just taken DS1 to school and will pick him up later as he's going to see the play this pm. I'm out tonight for mum's night out - God - I really detest writing that its so twee! And sexist - grumble grumble. Am having a bit of a moment regarding all that the 'mums' are meant to do.

Geordie - oh no about the job but probably for the best - hopefully you'll get something nearer to home.

I am always up with the lark Esher as my children do not believe in sleeping beyond 6am - such fun Hmm

So what am I going to wear tonight - wellies and a duvet coat at the moment Wink

Also running low on supplies here - will be fishfingers for the dc's dinner tonight depending on what random thing I'm defrosting at the moment - really should label stuff I put in the freezer as it could be anything.

Actually made nice tart thing last night - sheet of frozen puff pastry, roasted some butternut squash - mashed that up on top and sprinkled over some sage and smoked chedder - very yummy with salad.

hf128219 · 02/12/2010 08:47

GM Great shame about your job.

Just marking my place!

traceybath · 02/12/2010 08:49

Oh and the only consolation from the snow perspective is that I think its highly likely school fayre will be cancelled on Saturday.

Although amusingly myself and other class rep keep giggling about the fact that it just a school thing and not a UN peacekeeping mission as some people seem to think Wink

pickledsiblings · 02/12/2010 09:03

ABO Love the sound of navy Hunters. The brown ones would just look like they were permanently covered in mud - no?

AllBuggiedOut · 02/12/2010 09:05

Good luck in the snow everyone. I think a £50 My-Wardrobe voucher would lift my spirits even further esher Grin.

Am determined to do some craft stuff with the boys today; have so far failed to do anything productive during school closure Confused

Am hoping to venture out to TK Maxx later to return these as can't walk in them. There's also a new Hobbycraft nearby which I've heard is great for craft stuff, so maybe it'll inspire me!

MarshaBrady · 02/12/2010 09:08

School open but advised not to come in, hardly any teachers, open only until one anyway. Sooo think I will not. (I am actually quite keen! But school not).

Verity you will love Mad Men! Saw the last of the series last night, DD was indeed very lovely.

Bonsoir · 02/12/2010 09:14

Just a quick bonjour before I get started on my pannacotta. I went to the market this morning on the way back from the school run in a fur-hooded fitted black padded jacket, knee high boots, thick tights and shorts Smile - felt very glam buying my three kilos of sea urchins.

Must now return to my kitchen for less glam part of day!

eshermummy · 02/12/2010 09:19

Tracey - our school fayre is Sat too and am wondering if they will cancel.

10am thursdays you say? So like, in about 40 minutes

Geordie sorry about job, will you try and get another? 50cm of snow sounds horrific.

Haven't heard from dh so am guessing he has made it into town - will ring and phone through my waitrose list check his progress in a bit.

Libra, Outnet purchases as follows (I always buys lots btw on basis of justifying the delivery cost. I NEVER seem to have the issue of sending back something I love on cost grounds as most of it turns out to be rubbish! I have a hit rate of oooh about 1 in 10)

dress

cardy

thinking ahead to winter sun

feeding my current evening goth vibe

blossoming · 02/12/2010 09:40

abo, what size are you? I want to sell my chocolate brown hunters size 41.

Oh Vin - interesting you mention vitamins - was wondering does anyone take any regular supplements as am considering in attempts to get rid of cold. I have been generally run-down since having Bea really.

Bonsoir - are you feeling better?

LTEC - hope postman gets through today!

tracey - yes, I am, finally one whole season of Mad Men four days later, better! Thank you for asking. I'd better be better as these are my friends coming over tonight and I won't want to hide in the kitchen!

Are you wearing your Goat cardicoat?

blossoming · 02/12/2010 09:55

I can't wait to get my Mad Men box set for Christmas. I think it arrived yesterday!

Right, must go and tie up some loose threads. Do not allow me back on today! Craft fair/late night shopping starts at 3.

notyummy · 02/12/2010 09:57

Back now and have caught up!

TRacey - sorry to hear about poorly children and you feeling run down. I got so many illnesses until dd was about 2 1/2 - she seemed to mutate germs at nursery and bring them home to me. I can't offer any words of wisdom on how to prevent, as I tried multi-vits, vitamin c, echinacea, eating healthily blah blah. All I would say is don't soldier on for too long without going to the docs - I did that and ended up with pneumonia and was nearly admitted to the hospital.

Esher - I hear you on the Ocado order. Unfortunatly they don't deliver round here but I am awaiting a Tesco delivery tonight and will be gutted if they don't come because of the weather. Good work on the order - I love all three of the dresses, particularly the last one! However even in my optimistic shape moments, I could not describe myslef as an 'extra small' and therefore it is not for me.

GM - Sorry to hear about your job. I am also jobless as of 31st of March so you are not alone! Will you be looking for something else? I also have a long commute (are we twins?) and part of me is looking forward to that disappearing. Trying to find something at the salary bracket I am interested in within an easy commute of where I am is a challenge though...

LTEC - Hope you don't have to walk!

I think I am going to order the Gap coated jeans if they have them in my size.

Am going for a long walk in the snow in lieu of a run shortly. Have been cross training, yoga and shredding over the past few days - but all indoors and really starting to miss the fresh air that comes with a run.
