following on from bunny's festive lead ....

Oh My God! I just can't imagine that Geordie - think I'd have taken up smoking.

geordieminx · 08/12/2010 12:42

I was actually strangely calm tbh. At least I was by myself, couldnt have coped if I'd have had ds with me.

The road was tretrious(sp) all the way home, so it was survival more than anything else.

Most of the folk about me were fab, shared snacks, guy in front charged my fone for me, sat in each others cars for a bit. Real war effort Grin

MarshaBrady · 08/12/2010 12:51

Geordie! Wow well done you for dealing with that.

Although I agree about the calmness, as long as I didn't have to entertain children, I might have enjoyed a sleep Grin.

Just as long as there was heating, and no stress about being somewhere.

Still better to have the ol' iphone\ ipad.

DolceeBanana · 08/12/2010 12:55

Hi all

Oh Geordie...you poor thing...well, you are a strong lady by the sounds of it, so stay strong and sod the silly comments from dhWink

Can symapthise on DS front. Mine (eldest) sounds like yours, Bloss, Tracey and Hells...Golden child at school, stroppy when asked to do anything at the moment at home. Tired and over=excited after school, but teachers incredulous if this mentioned as they say he is an enthusiastic learner, full of energy and polite etc etc and doing 'terribly well' with his reading ...awww. So that's good. Smile Must be me then! Humph!!!

Had nativity this morning. DD was lovely (of course). So sweet, even dh had a tear in his eye (although he swears not!)...He did actually turn his Blackberry off for it, so was very pleased. Grin

FritziGreenEyes · 08/12/2010 13:14

cake Could you at least try some herbal stuff or acupuncture? The red dress is great!

blossoming The school is lovely! They have English as main language during lessons and DD could start in reception class next summer. We'll get feedback whether they will accept her or not next week. Until then I'd better not get my hopes up. Hope you'll all be getting through the next days. Cannot even begin to imagine the hurt you must all feel. Not going to send you more hugs or you might feel smothered.

ollie Wow at your busy social life! Lots of opportunities to dress up.

carciofi Good luck with the move tomorrow!

bunny How is everyone today? Hope DD is on the mend!

geordie Sounds like you have a lot on at the moment. Being stuck on the motorway for such a long time would be enough for me to tip me over. Can you do anything to make you feel better? Even if it is just having a lovely cup of tea, wearing something extra nice or cosy or some quiet time in the bath after DCs are in bed?

tracey Are you dying the clothes in the washing machine? Be careful not to wash any light colours afterwards!!!

notyummy Snow is melting here too. Typical that the parcel with my NorthFace coat is waiting at the PO now. Will probably not snow again until next winter...

hells Hope stress at work eases up soon.

hark Well done little-hark for sleep record! Fingers crossed it's the beginning of a new era for you!

LetThemEatCake · 08/12/2010 13:23

Oh Geordie you poor thing. What an experience. Thank goodness you are the sort of person you are.

Glad all ok at school and dh on mend Tracey. Hope work not eases up hells- enjoy your dc today. How is. Dd1 bunny? nativity sounds gorgeous dolce, well done dh!! bloss your ds sounds so amazing. Thinking of him and your dh too, males do have such different coping mechanisms. oww sounds like you have lots of fun things going on! Right dh and dd back from loo time to set off again so apols to anyone I missed

OP posts:
notyummy · 08/12/2010 13:45

Geordie - What a nightmare. I really hope you have a better week.

Blossoming - Hope you and your family are coping ok.

Everything - Well done you DS. And well done you for managing so far...I have to admit I am not great with little sleep (DH is better) and we have been lucky with DD. I suppose you cope with what you have been given, but I am sure I would struggle.

Bonsoir · 08/12/2010 13:54

This thread moves so fast - hard to keep up!

I bought Inès de la Fressange's new book La Parisienne while DD was at gym this morning - one copy for me and one copy for a friend for Christmas. And some more Falke woolly tights for our Arctic winter - it is snowing thick and hard right now and my plans for Christmas present shopping have come to an abrupt halt. Mad Men Season Three on DVD here I come Smile.

geordieminx · 08/12/2010 13:56

Unfortunately bath would mean hot water, of which we have none. Grin

bunnymother · 08/12/2010 14:21

Geordie - how about you boil a kettle / saucepan and soak your feet in some lovely, hot, scented water? Maybe that's a nice compromise.

Thanks for concern over DD1! She is getting better, although still cries when she tries to drink her bottle. But then treated me to lots of hugs and kisses earlier today - awww, just precious!

hellsbelles · 08/12/2010 14:26

Geordie! Bloody hell. I suspect a lottery win must be due soon.

Mumsnut ? actually it?s mostly just DD today and dealing with toddler tantrums is so much simpler than the politics of the office (not always ? I hasten to add)!

Everything ? three cheers for a full nights sleep! Let?s hope this is the start of a new routine!

Tethers ? thrilled to hear the dress worked out. I bet you look amazing. It looks like one that will work forever as well.

Zembo ? I think £50 plus for non leather is probably them pushing it a bit.

LTEC ? HH dress is divine ? but please please see doc soon.

Bloss I?m also rather shocked to realize how much more time I spend on MN than on my RL friends. I feel very bad about it actually

NY ? oh dear ? I hate it when things are dragged out like that and you can?t get them resolved quickly. Tracey?s point about nearing the end of term is very true ? they all seem to get so knackered that normal behaviour goes out of the window. I have said a few times on here how DS decided (a few years ago) to show his bottom to the world because one of the other boys told him to?and I?m glad to say he hasn?t turned into a serial flasher Grin so it?s most likely just a small blip and easily remedied.

Vin ? bloody hell ? I can?t believe his behaviour. Also why are you having to explain to agents upfront about your situation? Can?t you just ring and ask to look at places in a certain price bracket?

Esher ? sorry you are poorly and tired?but I?m almost more distressed to hear you had TWO outnet parcels Wink?and you promised.

Can you link to the my-wardrobe gilet? Sounds lovely!

Fritzi ? your outfit sounded gorgeous! I love love love that coat of yours.

I?m heat tech?d up today. Who was it that first mentioned it? Well thank you. Stay and play was cancelled so we had to trudge off to the icy park?but I was warm and toasty in my heatech stuff and DD was right as rain in her M&S thermals ? though she is a glove refusnik!

hellsbelles · 08/12/2010 14:27

oh bunny- I meant to send get well wishes to DD1 as well

FritziGreenEyes · 08/12/2010 14:31

geordie Sorry, forgot about the no hot water situation. But hot water bootle or foot bath as bunny suggested sounds great.

notyummy Thought of you today while one of the kindergarten teacher's talked to me today about DD's behaviour. Apparently she is just as wild and misbehaved independent there as she is at home, doesn't follow any rules etc etc Blush. Have decided not put too much pressure onto myself and see if things are different after the holidays. Still there is the lingering thought "What if I didn't work so many hours...? Maybe she is stressed because I am..."

Looked in the mirror today and was a bit shocked at how pale and haggard I look. Have decided to get my sparkle back until Christmas. The only things I can think of are "drink more water" and "get some sleep". Crucial but don't know if it will make any difference. Any top tips from those of you blessed with dewy / glowing skin?

FritziGreenEyes · 08/12/2010 14:34

.. more sleep I mean...

bunnymother · 08/12/2010 14:35

Fritzi - slap on make-up, esp blush and lipstick. Eyeliner doesn't hurt either. Loreal studio primer v good. Am feeding so 1 hand typing... Also, wear pale pink near your face - v flattering. Scarf?

hellsbelles · 08/12/2010 14:37

Fritzi - can you get the By-Terry range of skin stuff where you are (space NK do it and they have an online shop)....I really think their radiance boosters are fab (if temporary)...having said that they are very very expensive and I usually wait till they are having a 20% off offer.

AllBuggiedOut · 08/12/2010 15:09

fritzi have you started shredding yet? I'm finding it a pain to fit in and am not managing to do so every day, but feel so much better for doing it a few times a week.

blossoming · 08/12/2010 16:14

fritzi, I agree, shredding, blusher, eyeliner, eyelash curlers, tons of mascara, lipstick.

AllBuggiedOut · 08/12/2010 16:39

Oh, and if you're lazy like me, eyebrow threading and lash tint fritzi Grin

DolceeBanana · 08/12/2010 16:48

Oh, eyelash tint...had one once for hols...never again. Lashes are quite dark anyway, so don't know what I was thinking. But I feel the beautician saying, 'whatever you do, don't open your eyes', was silly as of course that's all I wanted to do...and so did, and it stung like hell!

I swear by this ROC stuff and Sisley face creams are the best in my humble opinion. Though £££. Clarins I love for body moisturisers. Chanel lipstick for nights out.

geordieminx · 08/12/2010 17:18

Has anyone had the semi-perm eye lash extentions? I have the shortest eye lashes in the world, and hate mascara despite wearing it every day.

I live in search for the holy grail thaat is the perfect mascara, but several hundred pounds later, am considering giving up and going for extensions.

No deliveries/post here for almost a week, am waiting on C's nursery pics, a new cover for ipad - in hot pink Grin, Aldo boots, and monster haul from Warehouse. Hmm

traceybath · 08/12/2010 17:23

How not to do AW10

geordieminx · 08/12/2010 18:17

How could no one tell her??

Trousers do nowt her legs either Hmm

AllBuggiedOut · 08/12/2010 18:18

Ouch dolce! I am way too lazy to wear makeup and have very pale lashes so it's a good option for me. Don't get it done often enough though.

Love the link tracey. Have to say, I don't know what Danni thought she was doing either. so unflattering on her thighs. But oh to be as fresh-faced as Emma Watson

notyummy · 08/12/2010 18:19

Oh dear....

My coated jeans from Gap haven't arrived yet - and seeing that pic makes we wonder if I want them to....
