GeorginaWorsley · 06/12/2010 19:51

I thought you were selling,I must have misunderstoodBlush.

Re my Phas eEight dresses,I wanted something for a christmas party that wasn't too expensive [wise] so was trawling French Connection,Phase Eight etc and found those in the 'sale' section.Worth a try if nothing else.
Just dread the thought of the post office queue when i return one!(or both...)

mrsjuan · 06/12/2010 19:59

Oh vin - well done you! I truly hope this is the start of a wonderful time for you and your DS. You both deserve it.

I'll take the shortie leg baxters off your hands if they are going to be chucked otherwise but please let me give you something for them.

I wonder if you can help with any ideas for my Christmas present from DH. He wants to buy me jewellery but we are both feeling uninspired. I like fairly simple but pretty things. His budget is about £200 I would prefer it if it were half that. Has anyone seen anything nice around?

LetThemEatCake · 06/12/2010 20:00

no no not selling!! although am feeling slightly Blush as I have worn it 4 times (navy) and 3 times (stripe) and my overuse has been noted!!

So maybe need to give it a rest for a few weeks and work the glitzy festive stuff!

have had brainwave re cardigans etc. Sell IO. Buy .... nothing. Am not having another winter until mid 2012 so will wait and buy something lovely from one of the Aussie or Kiwi designers.

OP posts:
DolceeBanana · 06/12/2010 20:02

and breathe....all in bed...lovely story time with big ones then cosy milk and cuddles with baby. awwww....

Anyway. Did anyone see Operation Mincemeat last night...re WW11 and the intelligence service....absolutely fascinating, if a little gruesome, and harrowing...amazing, but wondered why I didn't sleep very well. Confused

I like the cardicoat Carciofi...but why so expensive? Bit silly price wise, so sensible to wait for sale maybe...think the Jigsaw one a la Bonsoir is v nice too. Think Tracey also liked the Kew asymmetric one if my memory serves me right.

What trews are we wearing now then...I hate anything remotely boot cut on me. And (this is not necessarily good I am telling you-legs are feebly skinny for some strange reason)...so all trousers of a 'normal' shape...i.e. not super skinny etc just seem to hang unflatteringly...or is it just that I am used to skinnies ? Thoughts ladies please.....

LetThemEatCake · 06/12/2010 20:02

Alex Monroe mrsJ? I wear my silver dragonfly constantly

OP posts:
DolceeBanana · 06/12/2010 20:03

Oh Cake, we will miss you when you have gone back to Paradise....

DolceeBanana · 06/12/2010 20:04

I was just thinking the same for MrsJ Cake...the Dragonfly or The Bee......both gorgeous...

LetThemEatCake · 06/12/2010 20:04

can I not still post?? we have internet there, honest mate!!

saw these and thought of you dolce

OP posts:
GeorginaWorsley · 06/12/2010 20:05

DOLCEE yes,I did.
Have read the book, and am an avid Wink reader of any war literature at all.
Re trousers,I have worn skinnies/leggings with boots for so long now tha tall my other trousers seem wrong!

carciofi · 06/12/2010 20:13

Dolcee, yes, won't be buying unless discounted.

LTEC, a much better idea!

OK, back to my boxes and bubblewrap.

hellsbelles · 06/12/2010 20:27

vin - well done. I hope he surprises you and leaves easily and without more pain.

LTEC - you have to post...of course you do. But you will be banned from posting endless summer dresses and sandals while we shiver away jealously. Grin

notyummy · 06/12/2010 20:28

I have taped that Dolcee. I haven't read it yet, but gave read some of his other stuff. Fascinating.

I think a slight bootcut looks great on taller ladies ( I have to say that as I wear them sometimes!) There was a time when we didn't wear skinnies....and it will come again I think.

notyummy · 06/12/2010 20:29

Oh yes- bloody well done Vin. So difficult I'm sure, but you have to move on.

mrsjuan · 06/12/2010 20:38

Oh yes cake - I've always admired your dragonfly necklace. I like the hummingbird too. Will forward to DH Grin

NY - I vividly remember sniggering looking at my mum's straight legged jeans about 10 years ago and vowing that I'd never wear anything other than boot cut. I also mercilessly teased her for wearing coloured tights Blush.

eshermummy · 06/12/2010 20:44

Bloss Thinking of you in the run up to Thursday and Vin hugs to you too - and bloody good on you for packing up P's stuff girl!

Dolcee - good luck at auction next week.

Envy at having booked hols already Tracey
We have forgone our usual Oct/Nov hols this year in favour of cracking on with (and oaying for!) the ongoing works at Esher Towers, however, this phase of work should all be completed by end Feb so am hoping we will book something for March/April. I will be so ready for it by then I can tell!

NY it's not as cold here as where you are but all day today local radio has been going on and on about how cold it is going to be (minus 4-6 overnight here and not rising above minus 2 in the daytime so I have succumbed to the ugg biker boots that noone liked Blush. Was out in Belstaffs this morning (with ski socks over tights) and feet were cold. Changed into snow boots for going out later on and feet were warm but snow has gone here really so I want something as warm as my snowboots but a bit more stylish. Ordered from ASOS for delivery tomorrow. If i don't like them, will order Ugg Kensingtons with the My W code which expires tomorrow.

Have ASOS parcel upstairs but have not opened yet. Feeling lazy but will go upstairs and get it if Tracey or Zembo want update on mongolian gilet. Did you order?

DolceeBanana · 06/12/2010 20:54

I know Cake, but it won't be quite the same will it!?

Fab velvet skinnies Cake...I like!

Am watching Kirst and Phil on their vomitinducing-- christmas at home series....blah, blah, blah. Why does Kirsty look like she has got an awful smell up her nose the whole time...it's as if even she is thinking, 'God, look what I have to resort to...' Grin

Thanks Esher...Smile

It was minus 6 here today....brrrrrrrr......

Fleecy · 06/12/2010 20:55

cake don't stop wearing Janice on my account Blush

I'm going for navy Janice number three outing in a month on Saturday...

Am off out for a client's Christmas party tomorrow. It's an 80s party and people are dressing up. I know it's a bit frowned upon here but I think it's fun if there's no pressure and people don't take it too seriously. I'm going to wear this ridiculously shiny dress with black lace tights and clashing scarlet stilettos. £9.99 on eBay for the dress and should be able to make that back after. Hooray!

DolceeBanana · 06/12/2010 20:56

Oh Esher...get thee upstairs for a try on sesh! Go on!!!!

GeorginaWorsley · 06/12/2010 20:59

Same here, dolcee .I actually felt really really cold for first time today, must have been inadequately dressed.Grin
Our house is warm thsnk goodness.

LetThemEatCake · 06/12/2010 21:22

DTI10 · 06/12/2010 21:30

hi all,

I have just got in from work to find my deliver of LTEC's/Choo's Edelman boots. I tracked a pair down from Nordstrom (US).

DH said that they make my feet look like clodhoppers - thanks! In my opinion they are comfortable and actually fit. I've tried to put a photo on my profile - can anyone have a quick look (removing it soon) and let me have honest opinions please.

Sorry if I have not responded to anyone else this evening.

LetThemEatCake · 06/12/2010 21:37

can't click on your name DT? make yourself public!!!

OP posts:
Zembo · 06/12/2010 21:38

Vin can't tell you how pleased I am to hear you've made the first big move on the road to no pain. Keep strong, you are undoubtedly doing the right thing although can't be easy.

Bloss my heart goes out to you. Please go easy on yourself and do whatever you feel necessary.

Esher haven't ordered the gilet but it is in my basket Blush go on, try it on for us.

Cakey boots look good (although I personally don't get on with tan) but do you need more boots if you don't need another cardicoat?

DTI10 · 06/12/2010 21:39

oops, sorry....will go back in and try now!!
