Well, MILs need presents I suppose ....

AllBuggiedOut · 04/12/2010 12:33

Pain au chocolat sounds like a good way to go vin. Enjoy.

LTEC good luck today.

And verity ooh, I'd forgotten she did wellies too! Am loving these...

Romanarama · 04/12/2010 12:35

Hooray, I've bought all pressies on Amazon, bought tickets for Dubai and Istanbul stopover for New Year, and decorated tree and crafted.

Yes to Sartorialist too - love it. Though the comments are spectacularly inane.

hellsbelles · 04/12/2010 13:07

Verity Grin ? you poor thing?that does sound like it was a pretty dramatic November!

Everything ? I did exactly the same thing with UP

Bloss ? good luck with the hair cut.

Vino ? love it! Bet you look wonderful in it.

Roma ? well done! I still have lots more to do. I'm very jealous of your efficiency.

Cake ? your cake is gorgeously cute and I hope the party goes well.

Nothing very stylish going on here. I?ve ordered some of the Merrill snowboots that have been linked to on various threads?and of course it?s now stopped snowing.

So for the meet up ? what sort of thing are you all wearing? As I?ve missed the last two please give me a clue.

FritziGreenEyes · 04/12/2010 13:16

vin Don't feel guilty for not going to the memorial service. Must be hard enough as it is...

DTI10 · 04/12/2010 13:29

oh Vin - don't feel guilty about it - you are doing the thing you feel is right.

However the dress 'accident' seems like a rather good one.

DT & Vino - you are not being much help on meet up outfit Wink

DTI10 · 04/12/2010 13:52

sorry vin I can't find words to make you feel better but you do whatever you need for yourself. Black dress purchase gorgeous, keep it!

hellsbelles I have no clue because I really do not. I am assuming I will turn up and everyone else will be magazine fashion editor perfect and I will be mish mash of whatever I threw on at the last minute to get out of the house.

Will be trying on variations during the week. It really depends on the weather as I absolutely can't stand the cold.

hellsbelles · 04/12/2010 13:54

neither can I DT! I have to be warm - though I do promise not to wear my uggs Grin

DTI10 · 04/12/2010 14:10

If it is too cold I will wear my Uggs, make a swift dash to the ladies, and stuff them into a bag before joining the W&A's!!!

hellsbelles · 04/12/2010 14:11
Grin
hellsbelles · 04/12/2010 14:13

oh Zembo - meant to say- I've found the 'soap and glory' foot cream (stocked in most Boots) is as good for me as flexitol and smells a darn sight nicer!

Jeans, Uggs and Thermals....??

DTI10 · 04/12/2010 14:21

ok,ok, I digress. Aubergine opaques sitting on the bed waiting to be worn - that's the start of the outfit so far.

Romanarama · 04/12/2010 14:26

Bet the cake's great cake. I just made a cake - Nigella's cranberry bakewell tart. Really delicious and just tastes like Christmas. Yum. I decided to get steeped in the whole Christmas thing early this year, as we are leaving for Dubai on 22/12, which will be warm and , well... Muslim. The boys are concerned Grin

I want to look at vin's dress but can't find the right post.

I'm really mystified by Uggs, I can't get used to the way they look, and sloshing about with your very-expensive sheepskin in the rain and snow is very odd, I think. Good slippers though, if rather ££ for a pair of slippers.

I had done nothing at all Christmas-wise until yesterday afternoon. So I got pretty much everything the dc could want from Amazon for £200. DH and I don't really buy presents for each other for Christmas usually, so we will consider the holiday our present. So I just have to get something for my brother who lives in Dubai, and who has cleverly managed to borrow a 3-bed villa with private pool for us for our hols Grin. Can't believe we may finally be going on a real holiday (ie all 5 of us on a plane to somewhere we haven't been before) for the first time for years. Fingers crossed for no more Icelandic volcanos!

Now any tips for Istanbul hotels that are pretty but not pricey?

Vin it's up to you whether you go or not - it doesn't mean anything to your much-loved dd whether you are missing her at home or anywhere else, and it's certainly nothing to do with the rest of the congregation, who are all there for themselves. Don't feel you have to perform for anyone.

hellsbelles · 04/12/2010 14:37

Roma I have just got the most ridiculous quote for 5 days in Dubai over New Year so may defer until Easter. My friend stays here and recommends it. Don't know how expensive it is though.

Cake Great Cake. Have e-mailed you restaurant recommendation of Roka. I'd also recommend Savoy Grill (they have a veggie menu)Sake No Hana again Japanese but lots for you to graze on

Right How does everyone remove their boots? I wore my Hunters for the first time today and it took me almost 20 minutes to get them off.

Esher I took delivery of my bargainous Kensingtons today. They are lovely, but not sure they are me. They also took me ages to remove. I got them in Harrods for £150 using discount code. If you are size 6.5/7 and want to buy them let me know.

Vin Are you still in London? Get yourself a one way ticket to Paris. Tout de suite (sorry Bonsoir if wrong sp only O Level French here)
