Oh my God, I choked (try and hum along to We Three Kings...)!! But here is the new thread.

OP posts:
OllieWollieWoo · 27/11/2010 20:22

Pickled - just in the middle of the first Glee season over here and I love it - so does DH but he would never admit to it! Am toying with getting the new CD to blast out when ironing! Do find Rachel a bit annoying - know she has a good voice and all that but she doesn't half shout the vocals sometimes! Think notyummy is a fan too!

Not one snowflake here yet - I have snow envy - until like Blossoming says, it impacts on the school run/social life of course!

Fritzi - I really, really like your coat - sometimes those quick purchases are the best cos you know immediately if its a keeper.

Got a party at an indoor play centre tomorrow - perhaps we will be snowed in overnight - here's hoping!

OllieWollieWoo · 27/11/2010 20:23

Just realised my public airing of my fondness for Glee is probably v uncool!

Bonsoir · 27/11/2010 20:32

fritzi - love your impulse buy Sportmax coat - glamorous and so easy to wear!

blossoming - DD and I watch an awful lot of period drama on DVD (in an attempt to improve her English as sources are limited) and we end up with quaintly old fashioned turns of phrase, like "taking to bed". Yesterday she came to me with a dolls tea tray and said "Do you care for milk?", and she wrote a little letter to her cousin recently "I wish to see you very soon."

eshermummy · 27/11/2010 20:34

Am glad you are all so encouraging re Maxmara - would it be very bad to admit taht I already own 3 Maxmara coats Blush although like Vin I have given one away as was far too big for me (bought many years ago when I was much bigger).

LTEC outfit sounds fab.

Am just waiting for my mum to arrive then off out for dinner with DH. Could only get a 9pm table as booked at last minute.
Am wearing these which arrived in otherwise rubbish Outnet order yest (Pringle cardy will have to go back as although I like it I cannot wear it iyswim - too shapeless and sleeves are just strange) with black Pringle 1815 silk and wool empire tunic dress with 3/4 sleeves and a fine wool long sleeve tee in same shade of aubergine as the leggings layered under for warmth. Am also wearing new Carvela heeled black suede bootees.

Bloss hope you have warmed up now. Hope those of you that are having a night in are all cozy - am full of cold (another one) so would quite like to be staying in myself although am sure it will be very nice once we get there.....Just hope we can park really close to restau as do not want to spend any longer than necessary in the freezing cold!

CHOOGIRL · 27/11/2010 20:38

Bonsoir your dd just made me choke on my wine.

I'm feeling like I have arrived... I now own a Pampered Chef Pizza Stone...and Fritzl/ Esher my first MaxMara coat

Cake Hope ur having a fab evening. Saw the HH dress in RL yesterday, would look great on you.

Still no snow in London...

blossoming · 27/11/2010 21:05

Delicious coat choo.

Zembo · 27/11/2010 21:08

Choo have you bought that coat? it's GORGEOUS! Love how the sizes go down to a 4! I'm thinking of treating myself to a luxe new coat but haven't had time to begin the hunt yet.

Tracey yes we had a few inches of snow here in the East Midlands and its really cold.

Esher love the sound of your outfit, you'll look fab, have a good meal

Fritzi really impressed with speedy purchase of great coat

Roary are you any better?

Cake hope your eve goes ok

I'm still feeling very internally crushed but keeping very busy.

Enjoyed wearing the gap coated skinnies with Belstaffs today. Had many layers on top incl heattech, brora thermal long sleeve top and charcoal brora cardigan!

CHOOGIRL · 27/11/2010 21:48

Yes the coat is mine - thanks Bloss for confirming I can wear grey.

Zembo lovely to hear from you - wish I had got the Belstaffs. May have a look on Harrods to see if I can use the code which I got from the xmas thread.

FritziGreenEyes · 27/11/2010 21:55

choo Forgot to say, my hairdryer came today and it is fantastic! My hair was dry in no time and looks great. Love your coat too!

Have fond memories of MaxMara on Bond Street. DH bought me a coat there for my birthday about nine years ago. It doesn't fit properly now but I think I'l have it altered if possible.

bloss Hope you're warm again! It's really cold outside here too.

tracey Hope DS gets better soon and you can get some rest too.

ollie Fingers crossed you won't have to go to softplay tomorrow. Can't you just send DH and the boys? Just pretend you have to do some secret Christmas preparations.

zembo I wear my Belstaffs almost everyday too. Think they were the best buy of the season for me so far.

Have a great night out notyummy in maxi and cake in rabbit-fur.

bonsoir I seem to pick up a lot of phrases from older films and literature too and don't always use them appropriately as English is not my mother tongue. I would probably have fab conversations with your DD.

OllieWollieWoo · 28/11/2010 07:51

Still no snow!
Fritzi - would love to be able to send DH to soft play today but its the party of the son of my best friend here so feel duty bound! DH having a lie in but the deal is we pop into the city later for a potter (and hot chocolate!). DS2 needs new shoes (typical, its only 5 weeks til sale time but he needs them now!) and I'm hoping to be able to have an hour without the kids.

Bonsoir - I loved your story re DD. My favourite is the line from Emma "Badly done Emma, badly done" - I use that quite a bit!
Our neighborhood as a group of wild large green Parakeets that fly around. On Friday about 10 of them were sitting in a neighbours tree - DS1 spotted them, and ran off to get his camera shouting earnestly "I can't believe my eyes, I really can't!" Made me smile!

Time for a random link - my sister is getting one of these photo mosaics done herehere.

Hope you all had nice Sauturday nights - Hells how was the MN Meet Up and LTEC - looking forward to hearing detail of you night out and any lentil inspired outfits!

traceybath · 28/11/2010 08:45

Morning - for the first time ever I was up before my children! Well granted arthur had been in and out during the night but even so at 6am I had a cup of coffee in peace and quiet in my bed Smile

Busy day of chores/children's parties here today.

Choo - I love that coat!

Right am already staring on AW11 shopping list and top of its going to be a MaxMara coat.

Do you kow I still haven't got a new pair of boots for this winter - decided against Belstaffs but may relent if they're in the sales in January.

That harrods code is jolly good but I don't really want anything from the site or at least I don't need anything.

Yes Hells and LTEC can't wait to hear about your respective nights out.

Bonsoir - thats so funny re. your DD and very sensible for you to take to your bed too Smile

VerityBrulee · 28/11/2010 09:06

Maxmara coats on brandalley this morning, haven't had time to look, but maybe something for Esher and Tracey Smile

Unbelievable snow here, everything looks beautiful so off to park to make a snow family. Looks like I am going to have to learn to drive in snow, it happens so rarely here that people just stay at home until it thaws, but this spell is supposed to last until next weekend, and it's only November. Last year we had a week of snow just after Christmas so we were all happy to hibernate. Not so convenient now though, I have shopping to do, plus the dc go to school 20 mins drive away, lose to the mountains so the snow and ice always worse there. Will have to look into winter tyres I guess.

Thank heavens your heating is back Bloss, I can't function in the cold, my one extravagance is unlimited central heating.

Vin love your red dress, and choos coat Envy

Have fun in the snow if you have it, count your blessings if you don't Smile

ReineDeSaba · 28/11/2010 09:07

on way to park but just wanted to say maxmara on brandalley today for all affecionados..happy shopping Smile

ReineDeSaba · 28/11/2010 09:08

ooh cross posts!

Bonsoir · 28/11/2010 09:10

Long night, and I think I feel better. I must do, because I have a busy day looking after teens - two friends' DCs are coming round for help with their English university applications, one for prep for his Oxford interview (so quite advanced now) and the other for help in applying for art foundation courses (about which I know absolutely nothing yet!). If my hit rate is good this year I may just start charging Smile.

tracey - I really recommend Tod's boots - the quality is so great and they are so versatile. I know they are £££ but I always wear them so much more than other brands that I go back and back to them.

MarshaBrady · 28/11/2010 09:17

Morning!

With friend last night, was very funny. Big K party next week. But am don't know what to do with ds2. It is too far to drive back if needed. Ach he's nearly a year! Would love dh to do bed time (or ds2 let him do it!).

Love the idea of MaxMara and Tod's, don't have any of either however.

DTI10 · 28/11/2010 09:28

vin Got the weights but haven't opened the parcel yet, ehem. 1st of December sounds good, still three days to relax Grin. BTW I know what you mean about having many coats and none of them being right. I took three of my old but still good coats to a second hand shop a few weeks ago, now I have only the grey Sportmax, a blue Blauer jacket and an older black and white MaxMara coat which is not great but ok-ish. Might need a long down coat to get through winter though.

feeling too rotten to post in full (combo of mild h'over and flu type thing) so am going out to brunch and will check in later

but have clicked on coat gorgeousness and am - fabulous stuff Fritzi and Choo

vin love the red dress

happy birthday DT

re funny dc comments - I often read poetry to mine when I can't stand the mindlessness of any more kids' books - Prufrock is a favourite. It's now common for them to ask in the afternoon whether it is time for the taking of a toast and tea Grin

all of which sounds like a good idea right about now.

have good days all
