Vin I am a UK 8 and I bought a skirt in BR recently and had to buy a size 0 Shock so yes, I think their sizing is a bit off. I tried on quite a few skirts and needed a 0 in all of them but they weren't very fitted except at the waist iyswim. The size 4's were massive so I would deffo size down to at least a 2 for a fitted item, 0 for something that isn't.

LetThemEatCake · 27/11/2010 18:24

snap on the boucle vin. I think it works, have been wearing over stripes, looks fresher and less grannyish.

Okay, quick question re this thing tonight. Have just had text from friend/ nursery mum - one of the more appearance-conscious ones. She has said she is going to wear "a dress and funky tights". I know a few of you suggested rats but tbh I have worn them by day a lot and also to the pub with these folk and they don't feel different enough

So I am down to

the one at the top of the page with nude heels

or a CK dress that looks like this but with shorter sleevs and tiny black beading on shoulders only

or the navy Janice.

opinions? help?

traceybath · 27/11/2010 18:27

I think the CK dress.

Love the fact that our Janice is the W&A DD's "owl" Grin.

Hope everyone who is going out tonight enjoys their fabulous outfits!

Just back from shopping. Bought a Sportmax coat. Here but in grey. Can't really see detailing in the dark blue on picture but I like it as I can wear it with dresses and jeans. Took 10 minutes! Had time to have a glass of wine and read a mag while waiting for DH and DD where we met for dinner. That's the kind of shopping trip I love!

FritziGreenEyes · 27/11/2010 18:51

cake I'd wear the CK. Have fun!

eshermummy · 27/11/2010 18:57

LTEC - another vote for the Ck
(as an aside, I really like the sparkly VWA you used as a reference, think someone linked to it yest too)

BTW, there is a big Harrods code around for anyone considering a big purchase - is mentioned on the christmas party dress thread.

Fritzi - that coat looks lovely. I told DH this morning that I would like to go to big Maxmara (Bond St? or is there a bigger London store?) first day of sales and see if I can bag a marked-down coat.

blossoming · 27/11/2010 19:13

Wow, great coat fritzi.

esher, I think you will look great in maxmara coat, very Italian. Great idea to find one in the sales

What a lovely idea 'taking to one's bed' is bonsoir. Might have to take it up.

vino what a good shopping day. I love raspberry. One of my best colours. I'm sure it will look good on you too.

Have a good time tonight in the CK ltec.

Well the heating is back on. The thing is I sat in the coldest room while the engineers were here 'looking after the fire' surrounded by black smoke. Got so cold that I've been in a grump every since. I hate being cold so much.

Off to open the vino. That'll warm me up!

Romanarama · 27/11/2010 19:13

I heart maxmara. When in Rome I got most of my wardrobe from the massive store on via condotti. Have fun tonight cake Wink

Romanarama · 27/11/2010 19:17

Vin I tried on 4s in BR recently and they were a bit small, not to mention hideous. I'd try to find appealing books for your sister - what about judy blume or something? All wrong not to be reading at her age.

Love the sportmax.

traceybath · 27/11/2010 19:21

Have a lovely evening LTEC.

Rufus - hope you've got fab new hair!

Esher - that sounds like a good plan to me.

Bloss - glad heating now working.

Fritzi - I love that coat and that sounds a perfect shopping trip.

Poor DS2 is really hot now on top of his cold and cough so am anticipating a bad night which will undoubtedly involve me being up a lot.

traceybath · 27/11/2010 19:22

Vin - a superdry shirt perhaps or something from Jack Wills - that seems to be the holy grail for the teenage girls round these parts.

notyummy · 27/11/2010 19:23

Those of you going out, have a lovely night! Had no chance to catch up. Will do so tomorrow. Hpe everyone is surviving in the snow...am off to brave the - 3 outside in the leopard maxi...

LetThemEatCake · 27/11/2010 19:25

Thanks chaps, thought so. Thick fabric too so warmer (may even wear thermal cami under). Lace tights, edelmans, rabbit fur jacket. Yes?

Have not link clicked but everything sounds delicious, can't wait to see on the morrow

Mwah and thanks

I am so Envy of your rabbit jacket.

Just showed DS1 Bunny's photos of Emme and Lia - he was entranced.

Something from Sweaty Betty vino? You know, their cool down stuff?

pickledsiblings · 27/11/2010 19:59

Tracey, you can do a rabbit jacket but not second hand shoes Wink.

Great coat fritzi, v. flattering I'm sure.

LTEC enjoy your evening out with the Nursery mums. I'm looking forward to hearing about it afterwards. You could have worn this if you owned it Grin. Understated elegance, especially styled with the suede belt and fawn scarf (not to mention the fab black boots and bag). It would look great on you.

Off to watch Glee with DD, does anyone else enjoy it? It's terribly popular in the US apparently .

traceybath · 27/11/2010 20:00

Its the feet pickled - people's sweaty feet [eeeuugghhh] And they might have had a verruca!

pickledsiblings · 27/11/2010 20:00

ROFL at the name of that dress, Bead In My Eye Dress.
