OP posts:
GeorginaWorsley · 26/11/2010 20:43

Oh yes, tracey I remember now that you have that one.
Have seen some slightly chunkier more cape like versions, and Zara have some so cannot be that 'off' style wise,I suppose Wink

On another subject,just seen this
www.net-a-porter.com/product/80132 on another thread and I like !

MarshaBrady · 26/11/2010 20:46

I think they can be great too GeorginaW. Have worn a Ralph Lauren one lots, in autumn too.

Find it not quite warm enough for very cold weather.

GeorginaWorsley · 26/11/2010 20:47

Perfect for shopping though!Wink
So warm in these stores....

traceybath · 26/11/2010 20:49

Nice dress - in fact does Hells have it?

MarshaBrady · 26/11/2010 20:49

Yy perfect for shopping. Smile And driving (wool coats annoying in cars).

GeorginaWorsley · 26/11/2010 20:53

Maybe,Tracey.
Am going to look out for a slightly cheaper version though...

LTEC Thank you for summarising my thoughts!

Took a telephone call from dh today on their satellite phone. Very strange to think I was talking to a boat 800 miles west of Africa! Sounded like he was down the road.

The talk of dh's being away/coming home/interrupting routines etc is an interesting one for me. When dh comes back it's like he has never been away. Maybe as a forces wife it's second nature? NY?

Although he doesn't like the way I chuck teabags in the sink/don't put the lid back properly on the multi-vitamin tube etc etc! Grin

GW Nice dress but the colour would kill me.

GeorginaWorsley · 26/11/2010 20:58

Agree HF,would prefer a charcoal colour.
Mint velvet have a similar thing, iirc.

traceybath · 26/11/2010 21:00

So as its nearly christmas my thoughts are turning to next year's holidays and have a yen for some heat at easter.

Anyone been to Marrakesh got any recommendations for nice small family friendly hotels . . .

hf128219 · 26/11/2010 21:18

Tracey I love Morocco. Have been here - welcome children at certain times of the year

There is also the new hotel on the coast Family friendly.

hf128219 · 26/11/2010 21:20

Sorry, you said small. Mazagan is not small, although I would call Tamadot small. Such a beautiful setting.

Have you got your heart set on Marrakesh?

blossoming · 26/11/2010 21:29

traceybath, I would tell you all about my trip to Marrakesh, but it was in 1992 where me and a beloved exb hitchhiked through Spain, stayed in the cheapest rooms (no toilet paper, just jugs of water, eww gross!) and is possibly not going to be helpful to you at all! It's made me all nostalgic though, and warm and fuzzy inside! Iphone not allowing MN tonight, so that's me done. Must spend time with the real love of my life instead of reminiscing of exb! (remind me never to tell dh what my MN name is..)

Bonsoir · 26/11/2010 21:39

tracey - we stayed here 18 months ago. We all loved it - DD spent the whole day in the pool and garden, playing with the tortoises. The health & safety aspects might frighten you though (this might be true at any Moroccan hotel) - certainly no fenced in pool.

hf128219 · 26/11/2010 21:56

Bonsoir Another good place!

Morning

Exactly what I fancied after last night - getting up at 6:10. Why is everything to do with dd my job? Angry

Had nice evening though dp had been out for a "work" lunch before and was half cut when I met him. He'd had a busy week so was feeling very aggressive. I had to have words.

Pleathers were a joy to wear. I couldn't sit down but hey. Everyone woman there for a Christmas party (there were many) was wearing sequins which I worried about. They had a moment a year or three ago too didn't they?

Going to a fancy dress party today and am feeling very sad about it. It's dp's friends that I don't like anyway but it's princesses & pirates themed and the host very cheekily commented that she knew my dd would go as a pirate and she'd prefer if girls went as princesses. Dd is 2.5 and has no interest in princesses. She wants to wear her pumpkin outfit. We've tried to change her mind but she's insistent & is very excited about it. Mil says it's wrong, she (dd) will feel different when we arrive etc. I now don't want to go at all and am Sad and Angry anyone gives a shit what a kid wears to s party.

PlumSykes · 27/11/2010 07:45

Monkey, that it shittola! Host sounds the type to have a colour themed dress code at her wedding. Can't you just cancel? Your DD is a BABY still, and once the princess junk starts, you're in it for the long-haul.

She will make a very scrumptious pumpkin. In fact, I may have to pop her in a risotto.

monkeysmama · 27/11/2010 07:59

Thank you Plum. I told dp I wanted to cancel but he is insisting we go. I hate all that kind of thing. They're kids ffs. I'm just so sad that a 2yo will be made to feel she's different because she doesn't want to wear frilly polyester.

AllBuggiedOut · 27/11/2010 08:01

Oh it really winds me up when people insist on imposing their neuroses on children! IMHO it would be a very unusual 2.5 year old who would notice that their fancy dress was differently themed to the rest of the kids'... Is the pumpkin one of those round padded ones? I think in your situation I'd let your DD wear it and make a black eye patch for it, and arrive claiming it's a pirate pumpkin. And let them stick it where the sun don't shine!

Librashavinganotherbiscuit · 27/11/2010 08:10

monkeysmama I think if anyone made comments like that to me I would blow a very large raspberry at them. But then you might be more mature than I am.

tracey I like Morocco but not so keen on Marrakesh might be worth thinking about a few days in Marakesh and a few somewhere like essaouira.

GW I like the look of capes but don't think I could pull it off, think they look quite stylish.

I like sequins on one piece but not a fan of all over, but then it depends on the piece of clothing and the person wearing it, I find sequins quite unforgiving and could stray into, hmm trying to think how to put this nicely, trashy terrority if not careful.

Librashavinganotherbiscuit · 27/11/2010 08:11

and I think they look bloody awful on larger ladies...but that could be to do with my own issues..

LetThemEatCake · 27/11/2010 08:12

I am so Angry for you on so many counts MM. You sound to be to be so open and lovely and yet surrounded by so many unreasonable people. Your immediate family sounds divine, though. Smile

Having seen your dd and how gorgeous she is I would simply wear an eyepatch myself and tell people that I was the pirate - and here is my treasure.

And then let them squawk their indignation like a rabid parrot Grin

LetThemEatCake · 27/11/2010 08:18

or say that you are Cinderella and she is the pumpkin/ coach

monkeysmama · 27/11/2010 08:23

Cakey I love that idea Grin.

Thank you for your nice words. I'm a pretty relaxed woman about most things but I feel very upset about this.

I am off to make myself an eye patch and to give my little pumpkin and big kiss.
