Just been out with DH for a lovely meal. Was thinking about all the comments re dressing up for dinner so wore the Star dress, opaques and heels - felt nice. Tutted when I saw someone walk into the restaurant (small but stylish) in a football style t shirt - and the realised he was on his way back to the kitchen after using the loos and felt Blush at being judgey!

Had a chocolate breme brulee with a hint of chilli - doun't taste the chilli then but now can! Most odd!

Blossoming - I quite like that jacket. An expat Mum from school has a similar one (which she wears on the school run) in autumn based colours - rusty red/cream based colours - she got hers from tescos but it looks great with jeans.

Traceybath - gorgeous links as ever - esp like the coat - an chic classic. Missed Strictly but actually prefer ITT with our Claudia anyway!!

We did another cake sale today for the hospice - had a table at a Nearly New Sale so only charged 50c a cupcake/muffin/brownie etc but raised 126 euros so very pleased! A lady asked for my contact details after eating my shortbread hearts - she is thinking of setting up a cafe business - not sure I would like the stress of baking to order but still a nice compliment!

Time to crash on the sofa with DH! Night all!

oh Fritzi! that's so marvellous. really glad you love it and bet it is going down a storm at the party. Hope yo;re having a great night. Don't be daft re paypal, it's yours. My thank you for the jeans Smile

lovely dress tracey would look great on you

mixed bag of a day here. 10 mile un this morning (awesome) and outing with iLs this arvo (not awesome)

also my first day of no sugar (thanks to Bloss and Elle magazine) and am ashamed to say I have a headache Shock. Can't imagine how people who generally do chocolate, biccies etc might cope with the drop.

red shoes sold out online but have a pair on hold in store to be picked up tomorrow before the madness of Halloween Am currently altering dd's costume - Princess Fiona - as was all sold out in her size so had to but age 8. DS1 is Shrek, ds 2 is Ogre Baby. I am Puss in Boots (fur gilet, black rats, belstaffs - such an A&W Puss in Boots!!)

Georgina thank you for your kind comment and bloss thank you for posting on blog - made me laugh Smile BTW, just in case you think I am being rude not saying thank you for the Nars, it hasn't come yet - not sure whether you've posted?

I wore my red coat today with navy chain detail sweater, blue jeans and Ash high tops (muddy walking involved) and felt quite jaunty, company aside.

Um there was probably more but mind has gone blank ...

reallygrumpy · 30/10/2010 22:29

LTEC where's your red coat from? I'm trying to find one but so far no joy, the only one that's a possible is a whistles one but it's double breasted and I prefer single breasted.

MM what were the m&s shopboots like? I want some but haven't found the perfect pair yet.

I haven't been very avid recently cos we're trying to get work done on the house so I'm spending lots of time looking at bathrooms, tiles, taps, radiators, door handles and other equally exciting home bits... But it will be worth it when it's all done.

LetThemEatCake · 30/10/2010 22:34

RG it's a Jaeger one but I bought it on ebay for £30.

I was looking for ages for a red single breasted one. Found a few, but always with horrid collar, or with stupidly high poly content. This one is 75% wool and 25% cashmere and was in mint condition. Very happy.

Did find one by saltwater that was okay other than prissy collar but it's deffo worth looking on ebay.

how's the house coming along?

LetThemEatCake · 30/10/2010 22:39

oh I know - thanks for the lace dress Zembo - esher also linked to it but I think it's a bit too bodycon for wide arsed me.

Check out this one though - don't those stupid seams just make it look like you can see a bra and g-banger through the fabric??

mrsjuan · 30/10/2010 22:42

Looks like the gusset of the wearer's thong has been stretched down to their knees wedgie style Shock. I think it would really suit you Wink

monkeysmama · 30/10/2010 22:43

What is that dress cakey? It is repulsive. Did you get sequin coat? Saw a stunning Chloe one but they seem to be v popular.

hf128219 · 30/10/2010 22:46

'Infuse your party look ' and 'punctuate' - god I am terrified already.

Do people buy that?

hf128219 · 30/10/2010 22:46

Fcuk - I've just seen the price. WTF?

LetThemEatCake · 30/10/2010 22:48

makes me LOL as well as designer's name is same as a certain person of whom I am really not fond Wink

Fleecy · 30/10/2010 22:48

LTEC when I'm being healthy (which I'd better remember to do next week, having been something of a glutton this week...) I find I need to eat every couple of hours, even if just a small snack, and drink about 30% more water than usual to avoid headaches.

Interesting lace dress there - see what you mean. I used to do Avon and remember when they did a pair of knicks in a flesh colour with black lace trim along the bottom either side of the gusset bit. Looked like the wearer was somewhat hirsute. Most unattractive and I can't imagine they sold many Confused

LetThemEatCake · 30/10/2010 22:48

yes well MrsJ I am well aware that you think I look cheap Grin

mrsjuan · 30/10/2010 22:54
Grin
eshermummy · 30/10/2010 22:55

Evening all
Has taken me a while to catch up - am a bit Envy that it was so busy online last night when I was out at dinner with DH (although that was v nice too!).

Last night, wore this blouse but in nude/oyster over black ponte jeggings and these wedge bootees with black leather jacket on top and leopard scarf natch Wink

Today, have been to see Peppa Pig Live!! Yes indeedy and wore grey tweed shorts with striped tee tucked in and black Belstaffs which i was liking more today. Did that (slightly poncy) WIT/fashiony thing of tying excess belt in a knot rather than through loop - DH was a bit Hmm but I only had a brown belt to do it with so have ordered another one in black from ASOS.

Placed large ASOS order earlier - but am having trouble linking - think there is something a bit amiss on their site tonight as loads of stuff it won't bring up for me.
Ordered (with 20% code - PARTY) the full circle jersey harem trousers that MM linked to earlier this week - in both black and grey. Also a full circle maxi dress, the aforementioned belt and a lovely puffa coat for dd1.

Was on Wallis site earlier - am planning to order this black maxi dress. I know it will be too long but the shaping/ruching looks very nice and am hoping it may be worth getting shortened?
Also MM - am ordering this gold necklace - will let you know if any good.

Fritzi - hope you are having a wonderful party.

Zembo - I meant to say congratulations and am not sure whether I did so - Congratulations!!!

Cake - I loved the list of recent purchases. V W&A Wink. You will see that I have slightly turned focus of gothic dress search from lace to maxi. I bought a lace dress in H&M last week that was very nearly the one but as is so often the case with H&M just not quite there. I found it in the Regent St branch (no sign out here in sticksville). Has full length lace sleeves with full skater style skirt, above knee. A bit like the £££ Reiss one except the waist seam was neither on waist or empire line, sort of mid rib-cage? Also cut far too tight on armholes which gave me a strangely roundshouldered uncomfortable look. Thing is I am rather long from shoulder to armpit I think so maybe it would fit other folk perfectly?

Tracey - love that Alice dress - have seen it in rl in a wonderful emerald green colour. Have not tried on but looks very short and unforgiving on the hanger!

LetThemEatCake · 30/10/2010 23:08

oooh nice work esher - glad you had a nice dinner with dh, I love that DBM blouse, gorgeous!

MrsJ do you have the Janice?? you should do, no?

MM what are these trousers of which you speak? are they IO peg-gish?

lol at hf and the fashion lingo. I have been guilty of using "punctuate" Blush

mrsjuan · 30/10/2010 23:17

No Janice here cake - but if you think I should then I will take steps towards acquiring her. She would do nicely for Christmas meals I think.

My TK CK (do like what I did there?) dress is making its debut next week.

Also intrigued about MM's trousers.

MarshaBrady · 30/10/2010 23:21

That lace dress is foul Grin

Just watched an interesting movie, i love phllip morris. Quite bizarre.

eshermummy · 30/10/2010 23:22

Also, meant to say that MM you always sound v stylish on here and I shamelessly copy love loads of stuff you link to so am a bit Shock at the slightly grudging praise from your family!
Am also (am hoping this not sounding too stalkerish now Blush) Envy at your invitation to Vin. I would love to be there when you do meet though, she wouldn't be hiding one shoe box in the loos, you'd be helping her secrete another five!

LetThemEatCake · 30/10/2010 23:27

yes just been reading the rest of Elle and there is an MM (my mental image of) in one of the shoots.

MrsJ yes you need to order the Janice, it's navy and drapey and will look aces on you. Think the phase 8 code is still valid, hang on a tick will find ..

LetThemEatCake · 30/10/2010 23:29

also very Envy about vin and mm meet up as I live close by and will be lurking in the disabled loos in a SWF way.

MrsJ I was Shock and Grin at how much TK CK there was - so lovely!! where are you wearing your dress? Mine is very understated (for me Grin) - reminds me of Jen Aniston actually. Quite grown up chic Shock

eshermummy · 30/10/2010 23:30

Hello Marsha
I meant to post on your rug thread - about two years ago we purchased a rather beautiful Zeigler (sp??) rug in very pale shades of gold/greeny gold - is in adults sitting room, no kids allowed Grin
We bought it from here but at the time they were in process of ditching trad rugs and only dealing in contemporary rugs - of which they had some absolutely amazing ones. The shop is owned by a father and daughter (think daughter is in charge now) and they are both lovely. It might be worth ringing them to ask who they would recommend dealer-wise for trad rugs if they no longer stocking them. I think rug trade may well be full of some rather dubious/shyster types even in the smart looking showrooms......

mrsjuan · 30/10/2010 23:30

Ooh - thanks (especially for remembering the navy thing) - do I have a distant memory of you saying you needed to size up??

mrsjuan · 30/10/2010 23:33

Yes I thought Jennifer Aniston (on a budget) too when I tried it on Grin Just a work event - prize giving type thing. Thought it would be appropriate.

Am chuckling at thought of cake and esher bumping into each other in the loos as they stalk vina and MM.

LetThemEatCake · 30/10/2010 23:36

ta da!

Phase Eight 20% off full price items - AWINTER21. Expires 31st Oct.

depends on where you carry your weight MrsJ. It's unforgiving on the bottom so if you have invisible undies and want a va va voom wiggle, go for your size. Otherwise size up, I'd say.

Fleecy, Fritzi and I are all pears (hope you don'y mind being described as such ladies) and all went with the size of our bottom halves rather than top, if you get me.

MarshaBrady · 30/10/2010 23:37

Hi Esher, thank you! Smile.

Hf was really helpful too and I've realised that I have a yearning for old stuff as well as design ( thanks to dh mostly). I could really get into beautiful old stuff too but need to be restrained. Will check out the site, thanks!
