OWW Great links. Thank you.

Bloss Know the feeling. We have spent a fortune lately on (necessary) 'stuff'. Luckily Mr Ocado broke 2 eggs so I got 7 for free! Grin

blossoming · 29/10/2010 21:29

ollie, who is Claudia on mumsnet?
Do you remember my story of wearing Auntie Jinny's handmedowns to which my mother would attach a lace collar? Claudia had a lace collar on her dress recently!! And she was wearing my grey tights today !!
Being Welsh, it is a certifiable offence to suddenly start fancying Gavin Henson. Best keep that quiet then!

OllieWollieWoo · 29/10/2010 21:38

Claudia is on Mumsnet????????????? Tell me more! ! I got a bit drunk at our Book Club Xmas dinner last year and admitted she was my Girl Crush! There was lots of Shock faces around the table as don't think any of them are fellow MN's! Then, one of the Book Clubbers went to see ITT being filmed and said she was just as funny off camera and on and then the same Book Clubber went on holiday somewhere posh in Febuary and she was at the same hotel. Said she was lovely to everyone!
I love it how she wears mostly high street stuff.

I really want to like GH but think he is just a tad too vain. Do feel for him tho re CC and his obvious stage fright in SCD.

Ahhhh - just got what you mean Bloss (always have been slow on the uptake me!) Claudia has been reading this thread for style tips obviously! She had a lace dress on today too! Next week she will have red shoes on a la Cake - you heard it here first!

OP posts:
blossoming · 29/10/2010 21:46

If I knew her in RL we would be having a massive fringe war about now!!

Zembo · 29/10/2010 21:50

Who's Claudia? pretty clueless about slebs here, if she is one that is.

Cakey great to see you back, thanks for your no less than 1000 congrats Smile and what a haul you've got yourself. All sound wonderful and very wise indeed. Those heels you're getting are beautiful too; they look a bit orangey red to me though rather than what I think of as true red. Really like the block heel - I think that's my problem with courts - not keen on the skinny heels.

Fleecy really like your wine coloured shoes too.

bloss at least you've sold your choos on ebay! I'm determined to sell more and declutter at the mo (must be very very early nesting instincts Grin)

blossoming · 29/10/2010 21:56

zembo, Claudia Winkleman. Does It Takes Two on BBC2 at 6.30 every night. I also have a bit of a style crush on her, like ollie.

monkeysmama · 29/10/2010 22:04

I love the heel on Cakey's shoes too. I saw similar black ones a few months back I so should've got. Forgot to say I love the black M and S shoeboots.

LetThemEatCake · 29/10/2010 22:04

I used to get told I looked like Claudia, I had mo idea who she was until this thread.

Just finished watching the event and am now lusting after davina's drop dress, I love a bit of glitz I do

Have to go to proper proper cocktail do on tues, what is cocktail dress exactly please?

hf128219 · 29/10/2010 22:26

LTEC A cocktail dress is all in the material - as in it is clear it is not a day dress.

The length is usually to the knee or above.

The shape and cut is crucial too.

Smile
LetThemEatCake · 29/10/2010 22:35

Hf can I wear the backless Chloe?

hf128219 · 29/10/2010 22:39

Yes. And red shoes.

Zembo · 30/10/2010 06:50

Cakey this lace dress looks good on the model in the catalogue and crucially has very long sleeves Grin. I like the boat neck but not sure about the shaping around boob region. Thought I'd link anyway.

vinvinoveritas · 30/10/2010 10:15

hello! monkeys I think you simply must keep the fur coat! Then I can ID you easily in the park Grin
I actually had a dream
that I was in a park cafe and I stumbled across 2 lovely avid ladies wearing breton/lace/variationsofcamelcoats/fab boots and they were speaking in some kind of code! In my dream I was umming and aaahing about whether to out myself or to run out the door before you saw my bad hair day
That is sad isn't it. Eek.
Speaking of bad hair days- so, eyebrow threading devotees- do you have to wait for your eyebrows to grow back before you get them threaded again? Isn't that extremely annoying? She said come back in 4 weeks but after 1 week I think they needed doing again

I am quite happy at the moment- in the style of Roman I have found something in my wardrobe- a red cashmere wool coat a la Cake! Bargainous, if I recall (handmade find from a market £55 in 2008) at the time I was told it was 'a bit Father Christmas' pfft what do they know- I shall get it cleaned (appears to have biscuit on sleeve) and skip merrily into winter in bright red outerwear. It's a tiny bit shorter than Cake's (and I am much shorter than Cake) but otherwise v similar!

vinvinoveritas · 30/10/2010 10:18

Hmm yes cocktail dress = above knee and exxy, definite eveningwear material, but could have long sleeves if you prefer

vinvinoveritas · 30/10/2010 10:55

necklace- monkeys?

FritziGreenEyes · 30/10/2010 15:14

Ladies! Janice is here and I love her already!!! Size 12 is perfect for me. Right length not too clingy, gorgeous colour. Guess what I'll be wearing for the party tonight Grin. DH was just a bit Hmm when he opened the letterbox and I snatched a soft small parcel from his hands and raced upstairs to try it on immediately.

Thank you so much fashion fairy cake . Please email me details how much I owe you so I can paypal asap.

blossoming · 30/10/2010 16:25

That's great news fritzi. I hope your party goes well and you look amazing!

Just came back from the cinema where I saw 'Marmaduke'. Words fail me. But I still cried at the end. (No, you can't take me anywhere).

GeorginaWorsley · 30/10/2010 16:50

cake love your blog.

The red coat is fab.

traceybath · 30/10/2010 17:14

Yeay for Fritzi and Cake!

Bloss - we normally do a cinema trip at half-term but I just could not face Marmaduke.

I am wearing a new superdry check shirt today - yes ladies I seem to think I'm a teenager Wink It is very warm and cosy though.

Dolcee - saw house today - tutton hill - nice but lordy so overpriced. Needs about £150k spending on it. Ho hum - not sure vendor would take a realistic price but may try out luck. How did you find living in C?

Oh dear - have just said that taking shoes off for a dinner party at some-one's house is a class - issue - am preparing to be flamed Wink

hf128219 · 30/10/2010 17:26

But tracey it is a class issue!! Grin

blossoming · 30/10/2010 17:39

I'm having a few moments browse the boden preview, and I like the fringed tweed jacket. Could work well over my black dvf for smart, or with jeans and longline top and 'statement' necklace??

blossoming · 30/10/2010 17:40

hf128219 · 30/10/2010 17:46

Bloss I admire your 'avidity' - I am currently lusting over hotels/holidays on the internet - not clothes! Smile

blossoming · 30/10/2010 17:53

hf, we book our summer holidays the minute we get back from the previous year's holiday! Just to get the best price and the exact details that we want!
We had such a great time in Paris last Easter though, we may go again at Easter. Dc1 fancies Rome, or Paris again. I would go to Paris every time, but I'm a boring old creature of habit though!
Seriously, do you think tweed could work with stripes? e.g the tweed jacket with the jigsaw stripe that I already have in the grey?
