This way ladies....

OP posts:
MarshaBrady · 18/10/2010 16:31

Oh Ollie that sounds tough. Poor little thing, hope you are all ok.

Half term here too. Two weeks this time.

Want to post about boots and skinny jeans but someone keeps needing me!

Romanarama · 18/10/2010 17:11

Oh no OWW. Good that you went to A&E and had it fixed. When ds2 cut his head this summer, my mum was looking after him and took him to GP but not A&E. Every time I look at the hideous enormous red angry gash mark on his head - 3 months later- I am furious with her (couldn't be bothered), GP (blase) and myself (absent as per usual) for not going and getting it stitched. It's under his hair, but just above the forehead, where he will recede in time, and I suspect the hair won't come back where the cut itself is. Angry Sad

You can vaccinate against the pox you know - then they only get a couple of spots if they catch it and they aren't really ill. About £50 iirc, but no scars to worry about.

carciofi · 18/10/2010 17:34

OWW, your poor ds! Tins of salmon to you and Dolcee.

LTEC, I often have that problem with sleeve lengths and it is very annoying.

Hells, I like the dress, the back is a bit different.

Nice cardigan, Bunny. In fact, I might get it myself.

Is this scarf too similar to this one, which I already have? (Desperate to buy something emoticon)

LetThemEatCake · 18/10/2010 17:53

Oh no OWW you poor thing. Lots of cake & red wine, skip the salmon, far too healthy!!

dd went to A&E needing a head glue last year after she fell off the arm of the sofa (playing horsey) and whacked her head on the sticky-out bit of the skirting board. Argh, so much blood.

Was in the wake of Baby P case though so I was met with mucho suspicion at the hospital and had a few follow-up calls from HVs (odd, given that I never saw nor heard from one following the births of any of dc) saying that they were going to come over and see me following the 'incident'

Was a bit weird, but hey whatever they need to do to protect kids from harm, right?

carci i do think it is a bit similar .. sorry

how about a knit?

FritziGreenEyes · 18/10/2010 18:42

Oh ollie! (hugs and/or tin of salmon as required). Hope DS is ok now. B%&/)y Stokke chairs. DD had two similar accidents. Luckily no major cuts that needed to be seen in A&E. Hope the boys are going to bed soon and you can settle on the sofa with a big glass of wine.

cake Have the same problem with coat/jacket sleeves due to monkey arms. I can't stand sleeves that are too short and keep pulling at them so I would send the coat back. It looks lovely though...

FritziGreenEyes · 18/10/2010 18:45

Now that roma has mentioned it: DD has been vaccinated against chickenpox. Nearly everybody does it here. Didn't want to say anything as vaccinating DCs seems such a controversial subject.

vinvinoveritas · 18/10/2010 19:19

There is indeed a varicella vaccine but it's not given routinely in the UK, it's a bit hushed up here Confused presumably they figure it's not worth the extra givernment expense as most children get it and recover rapidly. Hmm.
I hope your DCS get better quickly dolcee (joys to come!) and OWW I hope DS2 recovers v quickly too, I've read many stokke accident stories on here (surprising they are still on sale!)

carciofi scarves are very similar.. but the first one you linked has er.. camel tones, very easy to wear with brown and camel etc (AW10!) so I could easily justofy that purchase for you Grin

Very Envy of you meet-up-ers!

Still lost my shopping mojo, though did get excited about moccis baby slippers in ADULT sizes

vinvinoveritas · 18/10/2010 19:20

*government

Romanarama · 18/10/2010 19:23

I'm not that bothered about short arms on coats, but you do need a pair of these to keep the windchill out.

I'm surprised about the hvs calling cake. There can't be many parents who get away with never going to A&E with head gashes that need fixing. I do always expect to be asked to explain what happened though.

blossoming · 18/10/2010 19:29

How awful for you ollie. Well done on keeping calm and maintaining efficiency! Glass of wine sounds great to me right now too!

I haven't heard about chicken pox vaccinations in this country. I wish dc1 would hurry up and get it. I've lost count of the amount of times it's been round his class in the last few years, from playgroup up. I think he's the only one who hasn't had it. I had it when I was about 10 and was very poorly. My sister had it too, we were on holiday. Her's turned green. Grim.

I knew there must have been something wrong with that Marc Jacobs coat! In fact my only gripe with the Barbour Cameron is that I could do with another inch on the sleeve. I shall be joining the monkey arm club forthwith.

Well kids are in bed, DH is away. A whole evening in front of me to do as I please. Bliss!

vinvinoveritas · 18/10/2010 19:38

Oh re HVs calling. When I had DD I met a HV ONCE in her lifetime. When she was taken to A&E (and subseuerntly hospitalised), for something that was in no way even potentially suspicious, my details were passed on and a couple months later (she was in intensive care) I kept getting calls from the local HVs office about her visit to A&E. ARGH! I got so sick of all their messages as they had an accusatory tone, I got a hospital employee to call back and yell at them for me
I think it's SOP for them to call whenever a child goes to A&E

LetThemEatCake · 18/10/2010 19:39

yes, I do have several pairs of wws, including some bright pink ones which would have picked up on the pink in the coat nicely, no? but have had another try-on and with arms relaxed, the sleeves are a good inch above my weirdly protuberant wrist bone; when I stretch, they ride right up to mid fore-arm.

TTTT, it lacks a bit of wow on as well, without the lining showing it's a bit dull. And it feels like a wool mix.

So I have just bought this. Sleeves may be too short but for £30 I ain't all that bovvered.

vino how are you doing? what's the haps with P and with exams; how are you holding up?

vinvinoveritas · 18/10/2010 19:42

sorry for typos DS is hitting my leg with look of glee on his cherubic little face reachesforwine

LetThemEatCake · 18/10/2010 19:43

re my lace dress search how do we like this

traceybath · 18/10/2010 19:46

HV's been very unbothered about my various trips to a&e with all my offspring. However I had daily phone-calls and visits after having ds2 because of his weight-gain issues which was very stressful. I am sure they intended it to be supportive but it felt very much the opposite.

Please tell me not to make bread again - its just too yummy and won't do my weight-loss plan any good.

Bloss - maybe your DS has immunity to th epox already - could have had a very mild case when younger perhaps.

Is anyone else a Spooks fan? Am watching some of the old series and just love Roz Smile

vinvinoveritas · 18/10/2010 19:48

Hello LTEC that coat will look great on you!
I'm alright thanks still haven't got exam results! I'm looking at loads of judgements for a dissertation. AARGH Grin
Also am trying to learn maths, I haven't done any since I was 15/16, I'm approximately age 11-12 in ability I have forgotten so much!!

Back to important things:
Like this bag for work but don't like the 'marc jacobs' name on the outside.. or the price tag! Grin

STILL have no boots! crisis

And weirdly I love sleeves that are too short, my favourite jackets and tops are 3/4 length sleeves. Gets a bit cold in winter!

traceybath · 18/10/2010 19:49

Nice coat LTEC and more money in the pot for yellow chloe Grin

Also - I know its a bit cheap and goodness knows what the quality is like but black lace dress

vinvinoveritas · 18/10/2010 19:50

tracey I scoffed mucho olive ciabatta earlier. MMM

Did Roz from Spooks meet a grisly end?

blossoming · 18/10/2010 19:51

ltec, I find that sleeve length, and high round neck a bit frumpy, sorry. But, I'm not sure I'm that into lace, so probably not the best to offer advice.
Could someone comment on this dress for my anniversary please. It's in my colours and I like a cap sleeve. I want to wear jimmy choos with it.

LetThemEatCake · 18/10/2010 19:56

bloss I think that is just gorgeous, it's so nice now, having met you, I can say with certainty that you will look totally wow in it. Lucky dh Smile

tracey for that amount of money I think I would rather go the way of the 2nd hand laura ashley - at least I know it's good quality Wink

vino I can't open your bag link?

FritziGreenEyes · 18/10/2010 20:00

roma Why have I never thought of wristwarmers before? Thanks for the tip!

carciofi Both scarves are lovely but really very similar. What kind of jacket/coats do you have? What colours do you usually wear.

vino Those slippers are so cute. Will order a pair for DD.

tracey DH watches Spooks but I am not that enthusiastic about it. Watched series 1 of Curb Your Enthusiasm last week. Was a bit strange and compelling to watch at the same time. Love the smell of freshly baked bread, unfortunately also the tast Grin. But as I said before: It is cold and I think you need some more nourishment than in the warmer months. Would be yummy with a bowl of pumpkin-ginger soup!

cake Although I'm not a fan of lace I like that dress! Would you wear it with Edelman shoe boots?

blossoming · 18/10/2010 20:00

Thank you so much ltec. And it's free!
(Well, the L&L sold for £50!!).

FritziGreenEyes · 18/10/2010 20:04

Great coat and fantastic price cake!

Sorry can't see MJ bag vino. Could you link again?

Lovely dress blossoming. Have thought of asking for feather earrings (in silver) for my birthday.

traceybath · 18/10/2010 20:05

Bloss - love that dress.

LTEC - the reiss lace dress I linked to yesterday was lovely but £££. Yes - ok accept that the pearl lowe one may be a touch ummm cheap Grin

Vino - everyone meets a grisly end in Spooks - I watch most of it like this Shock. I don't think I'd make a very good spy.

LetThemEatCake · 18/10/2010 20:06

which lace one do you like fritzi? See by C or LA?

I am going to wear everything with the sam edelmans bootees this winter(when I'm not at the park, that is)

that's ace that the scarf sold for £50 bloss Smile

what's the colours verdict on silver and black? I am pining to wear this skirt again - could it be done with black cashmere sweater, black opaques and shoe boots, dyt?
