This way ladies....

OP posts:

Carciofi - I've got a couple of friends who've had c-sections because of trauma/damage caused by 1st birth.

Have had 3 c-sections and recovered very quickly from them all - only downside is not being able to drive really or lift but your DD will be old enough not to require much lifting.

AllBuggiedOut · 18/10/2010 13:51

Thanks for tip-of carciofi. Have to order within next 48 hours apparently...

I have the Carvella Ainsleys everything.

DH knows about this thread, and that there was a meet-up. We share the computers and Mumsnet is always open on at least one in the house, and I'm certain he knows my MN name and reads my posts occasionally...

AllBuggiedOut · 18/10/2010 13:53

tip-off Blush

oh dear - I did catch up but have now forgotten everything!

The meet up sounds like a wonderful success - I'm so sorry to have missed it and will certainly love to come to the christmas one (I'll ban family from having any important celebrations on the following day)!

School ball was great fun - seeing everyone looking beautiful and dressed up. My dress felt just about right for once - however hangover the next day was shocking. I only just recovered for the christening the next day.

LTEC - for some bizzare reason I too love the see by chloe trousers. I say 'bizzare' because they make my bottom look huge and flat and wide (which it is but I'm now used to seeing it sucked in by corset like jeans). However from the front they are wonderful and so so comfy. Like wearing pjs!

Tracey - you made me LOL with your surely correct statement that cold turkey clothes ban would be dangerous Grin. Very excited on your behalf about barn conversion.

DolceeBanana · 18/10/2010 14:12

Hiya girls...

Fab that you had such a ball on Saturday. Was thinking of you all...in between calming my 3 year old who has a bad case of chicken pox. Baby also has it...poor, poor
things...a horrible illness.

Carciofi - glad you have calmed down too. I really wanted a c section with no 3 on account of v v fast labour with no 2, and living some way from a hospital/mat unit. I'd said all along that I'd have a c section, and then at about 8 months after having gained the support of a wonderful midwife, I decided to try for labour...and had a water birth...well, I'd got out at the end and stood up to push, as I felt more grounded...but spent 4 hours wallowing in a lovely tub before that...it's completely your call. You can change your mind is all I wanted to say really.

Love those shoes DT - I have a couple of pairs of LKs and they are fine on me...give them a whirl!

bunnymother · 18/10/2010 14:16

Oh, what do we think of this Uniqlo s sleeve cardi? I like it in grey, or even white (if its winter white, not cream - too much yellow makes me look like the living dead)

hellsbelles · 18/10/2010 14:18

oh dolcee Sad - hope they are over the worst of it too.

We have decided not to put an offer in on a new house right now - so to cheer myself up I have decided to try on this. I know it's not very 'cool' but I want a grown up black cocktail dress and think it will work with my shape. Will report back.

bunnymother · 18/10/2010 14:20

Another quick question - anyone know where you can get wool or cashmere gloves, hat, socks, thermals etc for little children? DD (16 months') likes to play/run outside a lot but don't want her to freeze this summer. She has boots, jacket and cardis, but need other things to keep her warm.

Dolce - oh you poor love dealing w sick little ones! At least they won't scar at this age (I was 22 years old when I got The Pox and looked dreadful) - silver lining?

bunnymother · 18/10/2010 14:21

Hells - I LOVE it!!!

DolceeBanana · 18/10/2010 14:23

Oh yes, forgot Tracey...barn sounds exciting...fingers crossed !

We looked at derelict Farmhouse recently but no go...(there is always something to put us off!). Tracey, I could not face not buying clothes and little treats either...although I'm sure I would be able to throw myself into the interior design bit, oh yes!

MarshaBrady · 18/10/2010 14:23

Hells that is stunning! Wow at the cutout back.

traceybath · 18/10/2010 14:27

Dolcee - poor babies - my boys were both very poorly with chicken pox. Have you tried piriton?

Hells - I love that dress and think you will look amazing in it.

Bunny - I love a bit of winter white and think that would look fab on you and a good price too.

So is a sunday best for xmas meet-up?

DolceeBanana · 18/10/2010 14:28

Hells...thanks. I love the dress too...have earmarked it (if you don't mind)..It has all the hallmarks of a classic but as they say with a twist...I have quite a few 'occasions' during the coming months...pls report back to let us know....!

Bunny - thanks too...I am hoping they don't scar...DD (aged 3) absolutely covered in large spots...everywhere...and baby has angry looking ones across forehead, so fingers crossed...my beautiful babies

DolceeBanana · 18/10/2010 14:30

Ooh Bunny, second Hells - winter white and grey would both come in v handy....

Tracey - yes, have been reg feeding Piriton to both...

blossoming · 18/10/2010 14:35

Lovely shoes dt. I find lkbennett shoes quite narrow though.

Glad you're back carciofi. Lovely dress. I'm sure if you explain to your midwife when you see her that you will be able to book yourself a cs. My friend was able to do that. (She then went into labour spontaneously, but they still did it for her). At least then you won't worry, and if you do change your mind later on it would make no difference.

I need an outfit for posh meal out on Saturday. Our 7th anniversary. Bec has already been worn to the venue. Dh away till tomorrow so I will have lots of browsing time!

That cardigan is a nice style bunny. Agree some whites can be tricky though.

Look forward to hearing your thoughts on that dress hells.

Dolcee - DS1 did scar a bit but he was 5 when he got it. DS2 was 18 months and it cleared up really quickly and no scarring at all. Definitely better to get it as young as possible.

bunnymother · 18/10/2010 14:37

Dolce - I had about 10 spots on one cheek alone. Dr said "this is not a mild case" (yes, thank you) and on my first public outing a total stranger rushed up to me to ask what had happened to me Angry Blush Shock. AND I was 22 years old (ie much older than your children). No noticeable scarring. So I imagine w your little ones, being so young, should be able to get away unmarked.

blossoming · 18/10/2010 14:41

Forgot to say poor little dolcees.
And tracey, I thought you were very wise indeed with your cold turkey comment!

traceybath · 18/10/2010 14:44

EIE - yes I see the attraction of building from scratch but unfortunately plots with planning to build on are very few and far between round here.

I think its very unlikely we'll do it as too many hurdles to overcome and not sure it would be great timing for us.

Right have made soup for dinner now need to go and make the bread.

Oh and have heating and hot water again - yeay

MarshaBrady · 18/10/2010 14:46

Ah dolce poor little things with chicken pox. Hope it is over soon.

Bunny winter white sounds perfect.

LetThemEatCake · 18/10/2010 15:08

bloss LOL at you and your swatches Grin. Thanks for the colour feedback ladies, I will stick with navys & charcoals for now.

Thanks for the salmon roary Smile - one straight back atcha for the puke fest. And on your lovely things too!! Shock Glad you had a lovely w'end

Yes, my dh is totally au fait with this thread and has nicknames for the nicknames and everything! When I am being particularly annoying/ demanding , he has been known to affect a VAley Girl accent and say "Don't you know who I am?? I'm LTEC!!" Grin

carciofi glad yo see you back and brighter. Great dress.

Hi DT you seem to have found your leopard-loving spiritual home Grin

hells glad you love the See trousers. Bad news on my MJ coat though - prelim trying on sesh 9and was rushing with dc so could be wrong ...) was that arms are, as per, too short for my simian limbs. An inch above the wrist bobble is too much, right??

Lovely coat though so big shame

also - hells - the Sam Edelman bootees .. wore them on Sat to meet up and then for shopping - so a good 7 hours of wear inc travel, and they were comfy as can be. So get in quick if you;re a 39!! Lovely dress too, I am a big fan of a cut out back - I have this and love it, have had loads of wear from it.

you lot are terrible with your Facebook Chloe ruffle dress enabling. I have just about convinced myself that I should have it now!!

Oh Dolcee poor you and poor dc. Big glasses of red to you, rather than salmon, I think. and hugs to the babes.

bunny yes to the cardi, fab. and so cosy.

oh dear I hear tears from upstairs, better dash

OllieWollieWoo · 18/10/2010 16:26

So, day one of half term and just back from a trip to A&E! Boys were playing with playdough at the table and DS2 slipped off his (bloody stokke) chair whilst reaching over to get something and disappeared under the table, hitting one of the table legs on the way down ending up with a 4cm vertical cut in the middle of a forehead! My little man! Was a real trooper tho - cried for 30 secs then was fine despite the amount 'red stuff' pouring down his face! DS1 turned very pale, I went into auto pilot and sent DS1 round the house collecting shoes, coats, colouring books, I grabbed a cloth for the wound, snacks and off to A&E we went! Were thankfully seen v quickly and they glued the cut - took 3 layers of glue but DS2 laid very still and chatted way quite happily about school, his favourite cuddly toy, speaking two languages and Papa snoring!!! All very random but very cute!

Home now and all is well - just got to keep wound clean and away from water. They said he would probably have a scar tho - sob, gulp! Tins of salmon and a glass of wine over here please once Dolcee has finished with them!

traceybath · 18/10/2010 16:28

Oh OWW - poor DS2 - tell him he'll be just like Harry Potter if has a little scar on his head though Smile

Annoying about the coat LTEC but I think an inch too short in the arms would bug me.
