Here!

notyummy · 07/10/2010 11:43

Just a repeat of my last post on the old thread....

Welcome astar - always good to see a fellow maxi fan!

Shame about the Wolseley. Have had a think and a quick google. Couple of suggestions below, but I am not precious, so tell me if I am miles off target!

Sofitel St James Choice of Brassierie Roux for 'proper' lunch. Rose Lounge for Afternoon tea, or the bar that also does light lunches. I have stayed here a couple of times and it is nice.

Wine Bar at Fortnum and Mason Does food and has either 1 45 or 2 45 availability]]

also The Parlour at Fortnum and Mason. Has a table at 2pm

Gallery Only table at 1245.

I am sure there are loads others - just going on the little I know about the general area!

OWW jumps in (with winter boots on naturally) to mark place!

aStarInStrangeways · 07/10/2010 11:53

I have followed you over here notyummy Grin Thanks for the welcome; I've been lurking because I am trying to become more avid and wise after a lifetime of being a bit scruffy and clueless. Am terrible for shopping without an agenda and coming home with three nice things that don't go with each other or anything else in my wardrobe. So for the first time in my life I am conducting a wardrobe audit Shock Have written a list of all the items I'd like to have, trying to think of things that will go, and am working towards acquiring them bit by bit.

A black cardi being one of those things, I am currently coveting this but the product description says it's red Confused

blossoming · 07/10/2010 12:10

You're a star notyummy. Currently opening your links on the pc whilst thumbing through a to z and writing on iPhone!

PlumSykes · 07/10/2010 12:15

Brown Hotel is in Mayfair too. Has proper restaurant for proper food, or afternoon tea/lighter lunches in a the Tea Room. Is very nice.

Oh, I wish I were coming...

blossoming · 07/10/2010 12:19

Okay, I like the look of the Sofitel, brasserie Roux looks lovely, and the Gallery at Fortnum & Mason. I'm available from 11.30, so 12.45 is good for me, as is 2pm or any other time, until about 4pm when I will have to start making tracks.
Thanks for those notyummy.

astarinstrangeways, a few of us here have had our colours done, and it has helped me greatly in finding things that go together, and getting rid of stuff that were unwise buys. My wardrobe has been audited and edited so much, there's room for a major shopping spree!!

rufus101 · 07/10/2010 12:39

Welcome Star!
like the boots Mani.
Carciofi her name begins with S, she has DD and DS. Is a great singer, so if you've ever been out, I'm sure she'd have been belting out a tune! Have seen her with Keelin in Panorama loads!

blossoming · 07/10/2010 12:40

Thanks to plum's link, I had a sudden idea: what about Hix Restaurant and Champagne bar, in Selfridges? main menu here. I phoned and they could take us at 2pm.

happilyeverafter · 07/10/2010 12:42

Great title ny

I did a primark dash enroute to a meeting this morning but no brogues in either if the desired metallic hues. If anyone happens upon a pair of size 7 goldies please purchase and I will reimburse them.

Dull outfit today of black knee length cotton dress, black fine knit oversized FC cardi made a little more avid with Boden skinny leopard, black opaques and tan peacocks brogues. A pensioner pointed out we had matching shoes and she was rocking grey brogues - hers were from topshop!

rufus101 · 07/10/2010 12:47

Love the title BTW NY!
Have filled a black sack of clothes to dtop off at clothes recycling place. Need further editing. An audit would be good!
Qs: How often have you worn it?
Does it go with anything else?
Is it a classic item that is worth repairing/ storing?
Has it past it's sell by date?(thinking here the equivalent of what a pair of gold brogues will look like next year in my wardrobe!)
Am terrible for buying stuff that I think I am sure to be able to match up at a later date. Hence the reason I wear dresses a lot. The one stop outfit.

cyb · 07/10/2010 12:56

I didnt like Primark brogues. took mine back. Have bought LEATHER Next grey ones instead.

PlumSykes · 07/10/2010 13:02

Were they £3 though, Cyb? Huh?

reallygrumpy · 07/10/2010 13:06

I've been hunting for the primark brogues too but so far no joy. There are some nice ones on the Kate kanzier site the yangy linked to on the last thread not too ££ but not as bargainous as the primarnis. Am v jealous of your fab lunch / tea, I have a big family lunch that day which will be a far less glamourous affair. The Dorcester is wonderful for afternoon tea if you need any other ideas.

notyummy loved your comment about the big bank manager in the sky and the maxi. It was a beautiful dress and I was v tempted. I'm trying to be restrained in my spending because we're going to be hearing more about redundancies at work soon...

cake hope you're ok

notyummy · 07/10/2010 13:07

Blossoming - Like the sound of the Hix idea - have eaten in another place of his in Soho and the food was great and (for London) not ridiculously priced.

plum meant to say yesterday thanks for re-posting the link to your blog, it made me smile, you do write wonderfully.

aStarInStrangeways · 07/10/2010 13:12

Not sure I can learn to love brogues after a lifetime of loathing them, but I must admit to rather liking these.

Thinking of you Cake, and your friends (was lurking at end of last thread, very :( for you all).

noddyholder · 07/10/2010 13:14

Cheap shoes never look good and bad for your feet Good girl cyb for seeing the error of your ways Grin

aStarInStrangeways · 07/10/2010 13:15

blossoming my MIL had her colours done recently and has been raving about it too. I am v pleased as it's got her out of a lifetime habit of wearing brown (so not her colour) and she looks lovely in all her new swag.

Shapes and fits are the things that trip me up. I always seem to like things that don't like me.

Just having a browse around the leopard print section on ASOS and found print&Rf-700=1000&Rf-300=1336&sh=0&pge=2&pgesize=20&sort=-1&clr=Print this Shock - good for workwear, do we think? Grin

notyummy · 07/10/2010 13:18

Yes, Star - I can just see me chairing a meeting in that little number! I liked the cardigan btw. Looks aubergine or maroon to me, not red.

Thanks for starting new thread notyummy. Love the title!

Hi to manipedi: Like the boots. And welcome astar! I'm a big fan of wardrobe editing. I noticed today

Have ordered black brogues yesterday and bought a simple black skirt and slim black trousers today in Zara. The sizing in Zara drives me mad though: I'm a medium in bottoms but couldn't fit into a medium shirt?! And my hips are much wider than my top half.

Am very pleased with my outfit today: New White Company Poncho, grey VeroModa skinnies. I have even managed another day of wearing ballet flats (Bloch silver). Will change now to jeans and clean the garden of rotten apples (oh the glamour).

Had to stop watching Grey's Anatomy halfway through yesterday as couldn't bear witnessing McDreamy being shot.

That maxi on the Outnet looked great! And the locations for your meet up on Saturday .

hellsbelles · 07/10/2010 13:22

Welcome mani and astar.

I too love the idea of brogues. I think though that I am too masculine looking and my nose is too big to wear them. I think they would accentuate all that I hate about my looks (I realise that sounds utterly insane but it is actually true!)

Outnet black cashmere dress was oddly baggy even in a small so that's going back. Grey tight polo neck o.k. for work if I have a meeting.

this tunic boring but useful with skinnies so that is staying.

Still waiting for the jacket and skirt. I missed a delivery while taking DD to the park - grrr.

FritziGreenEyes · 07/10/2010 13:25

Forgot to say notyummy: Love your DD's enthusiasm at camel/leopard combo. When I put my poncho on DD said: "That doesn't look nice mummy!" Luckily she approved of the jeans I bought for her in H&M today.
