Carciofi - Wonderful news!

Esher - not so good. I am not sure if the surgery is the same as for older people but my mother has had hers done this year. The surgery was a day visit per eye and the results incredible. I am not sure that helps though. Smile

Oh, your meet up sounds wonderful. I would love to come but time with dh/dd is limited enough because of work/obligations etc and it makes it very difficult to plan ahead. Have fun ladies!

Welcome any newcomers too!

LTEC We cope anyway we can. That is all we can do sometimes.

LetThemEatCake · 07/10/2010 21:20

what boots are people looking for? do these fit anyone's brief?

DTI10 · 07/10/2010 21:32

Can I be cheeky please?

I posted earlier about a Navy Trench coat - no response so far so was wondering if any of you could help?

Navy Trench coat needed - no fancy frills, just classic. Burberry out of my £££ range at the moment.

Thanks again.

LetThemEatCake · 07/10/2010 21:34

hi DT

any of these any good?

MarshaBrady · 07/10/2010 21:40

Ltec I like the boots. But I am on a no black thing. No black, no grey. I must be strong.

I was thinking of trying these T Burch ones. Not keen on sole. But love that they look skinny in the calf. (As an aside Hells, other fellow dukaners, have you kinda noticed having umm skinny legs? I don't usually bring this stuff up, am nonplussed, but my whole body shape has changed. Have you noticed skinny legs?)

Carciofi congratulations!! Wonderful

Esher ah you poor thing, I bet you are nervous.

TraceyB how was dinner? How was the ambience? (anyone watch/know comedian Micky Flannigan?? hilarious. He talks about the ambience). Great outfit, did your dh love it?

DTI10 · 07/10/2010 21:44

Thank you very much LTEC.

I am liking the Liberty and John Rocha (did not want suede but the style is good) but think they all look short (am tall).

Roland M is too shiney.

The search continues. I will have to blow my budget and Burberry myself up at some point. Grin

rufus101 · 07/10/2010 21:57

OMG Carciofi that is fantastic news! A holiday baby! Our DC3 was one too. A big surprise. Easiest child in the world, So happy and content. My DH say "that fella came out happy". So try not to worry, next time it will go much better.
Esher that is so upsetting. Get as much information as you can to try and reassure yourself.
Cake you had an awful day. Totally get the shopping and wine. Despite the wine, you got great buys.
Was perusing this site today, they deliver to UK for about 3£ or thereabouts. I quite like this leopard print blouse It's not too OTT.
[[http://www.awear.com/dresses/stripe-maxi-dress/invt/10202206/ another maxi for Notyummy!
Thought this would be nice over jeggings or leggings
DH out tonight at piss up business dinner. More time for me to surf!

rufus101 · 07/10/2010 22:01

Made a bags of that last post. I swear I havent been at the wine!
here is the tunic!

notyummy · 07/10/2010 22:04

Nice links Rufus. Ah yes - another maxi to dither over! I like that blouse too - good price for a silk one. In fact, surprisingly I am even more tempted by the blouse than the maxi. I did have a bad experience earlier on this year trying on a stripey maxi whereby it seemed to cling to every single undesirable part of my body and highlight them...that may have unfairly scared me off all all stripey maxis Grin

Have we set a new record for posts in one day?
hf, completely understand but still a shame.

ltec, be kind to yourself.

carciofi, no message as yet.

Was so angry earlier. Had to go out again to dc1's school for a cookery book launch and demo. I got back, my parents wouldn't be shifted, I was dying go shred and had 30 mins before dh came home.

Any other sahm's feel that they have hours of inertia followed by frantic activity and the inability to do the one thing you've been looking forward to all day?

Anyway, got it done and have had some wine. Dh leaving for Reading at some ridiculous hour. Best go to bed. Night all.

happilyeverafter · 07/10/2010 22:45

Congratulations carciofi wonderful news!

So sorry to hear your bad news esher hope things run smoothly for you

Tracey Your parents evening outfit sounds a sexy little number, hope you enjoy your meal.

Marsha those boots are lovely, exxy but utterly lovely.

Fleecy Glad the shoes turned up and were ok. My DD has lots of space for new shoes now! DH was impressed with our efficiency! Am selling a few pairs on ebay and am genuinely Shock at what people pay for second hand shoes. Next boots from last year are selling at 70% of new price with days of auction left.

I will go against grain and say I love the odd cheapo pair of shoes/boots. If I'm not sure if I will wear a look much or whether it will survive the season I will buy pleather. Should it get much wear then I am happy to invest in a decent replacement. I have lots of shoes though so it's rare any get more than a weekly outing.

Carciofi how did wool top fit particularly length? I've ordered the blue with an idea to wear it with pegs and heeled courts but it needs to be reasonably long as I look rather hippy pairing pegs with shorter tops. I have my eye on that very same quilted Barbour, poss a Christmas present though as I have too many coats to indulge in another just because.

mrsjuan Hope your DD is now sleeping soundly. I will be wearing bootcuts with kitten heels this season provided I feel ok back in them after such a long absence. Have been admiring them again on others but mine are still firmly in the box.

Cake Your little spree has netted some beauties, the trousers are amazing in particular. I saw these while browsing earlier and thought of you.

Must say although I felt very girly in my dress/cardi/belt/flat brogues combo today at work I tried them with jeans tonight and I felt a frump. Completely understand the brogue doubters although I'm firmly in Camp Brogue now.

LetThemEatCake · 07/10/2010 23:08

happily have your IO pegs turned up yet?

cake Yes they arrived yesterday. I posted flapping that they weren't flappy enough Grin Fit lovely on waist and hips but thighs semi fitted and was expecting wider cut before tapering. Ankle narrower too and bunches on ankle rather than at shoe. Am waiting for new wool top to arrive before I make a final decision. I do have muscular thighs though so it's prob me not the trouser. Are yours not here yet?

Cosy is huge too. Half wish I'd sized down but it is truly very cosy.

LetThemEatCake · 07/10/2010 23:34

gosh, no sign of mine at all. I ordered the 12s thinking that at least I'd have them at the discounted price and then exchange for 10s when back in stock (canny or cheap? you decide...)

Oh dear your description scares me a bit!! semi fitted on thighs - ouch!!!

I have the cosy in an M from last year, It also feels very big now. But yes, so very cosy!!

remind me of your size/ height?

yangy I am a bit excited about that S by C outift, I must admit ..

happilyeverafter · 07/10/2010 23:42

5 foot 9, size 12. Ordered M in Cosy and think S would have sufficed. Ordered 12 in pegs and truly the waist/hip fits better than any trouser I have. I wanted the leg to fit like the Cos ones worn on the Wearing It Today blog but it's more skinny/tregging.

Fabric is lovely heavy jersey, depending on how long Boden wool top is when it arrives I may keep them to wear with super high heels and shop again for a peg.

Honestly from pics on your blog you are so much slimmer they may be completely different on you although 12 will be comedy large.

traceybath · 07/10/2010 23:48

Evening!

Fabulous parents' evening - ds1 doing very well indeed. Lovely dinner afterwards and feel slightly drunk Grin

Esher - mil had cataracts removed a month ago and was fine. But I am a wimp with anything to do with eyes so many tears would have been shed here too if I were in your position Sad In fact ds2 has got ridiculously lone eyelashes and somehow yeterday some of his top lashes tucked themselves under his eyelid - poor thing was sobbing and rubbing and I was as much use as a chocolate teapot - just kept muttering 'blink sweetie' and dabbing with a muslin cloth . . .

LTEC - loving those purchases - especially the mango blouse and lace top.

I am enormous but trusty spanx got rid of those pesky extra lbs Wink

FritziGreenEyes · 08/10/2010 07:26

esher Sorry about the bad news...

Romanarama · 08/10/2010 07:31

Hello, haven't got time to catch up, but just wanted to say congrats to Carciofi! Esher my mum got cataracts at about 50, and the operation was very simple, not painful, and completely successful.

And.... Tracey guess what, I'm now proud owner of a Burberry Trench! Yay! It's sort of stone/camel, classic (Windsor maybe?). Completely £££££££ Blush

also bought a parka from Barbour for dog walking......

Zembo · 08/10/2010 07:41

J Brand on sale at vente privee this morning ladies. Hells they've got some of the 612 pencil leg cords in navy blue and black, not sure of your size though.

happilyeverafter · 08/10/2010 07:58

Could the fashion gods be trying to tell me something? I was just lazily browsing the iPad and spotted this skirt as I clicked to see if it was available my mobile rang and it was a journo from a London radio station wanting a quick phone interview in exchange for ££s.

blossoming · 08/10/2010 08:00

Morning everyone.

esher, so sorry to hear of your upset. Here's hoping the op will be painless and you'll have no more trouble with your eyes.

Romanarama · 08/10/2010 08:11

happily, I have that skirt and recommend it highly. It's really heavy jersey, so holds everything in all neatly.

FritziGreenEyes · 08/10/2010 08:18

Roma You so deserve that Burberry trench! Hope you'll enjoy it for years and years. Very wise investment Wink.

notyummy · 08/10/2010 09:16

Morning ladies - good work on the trench Roma!

Just dropped DD at school and am quickly hecking news/emails etc before getting all my domestic duties out of the way and moving on to my long run! Was getting a bit soppy watching the delectable Mr J Depp dropping in at a London primary school to say hello as Jack Sparrow after a little girl from there asked him to help her be a good pirate! Dodgy video - evidently filmed on a teachers mobile phone. He went up a LOT in my estimation when I found out how much work he does for Great Ormond St - he has visited for the whole day at Xmas a couple of times (no press) doing the rounds as Capt Jack, and given them shedloads of money. Apparently his dd was treated there a few years ago.

Anyway - as you can see, I am being diverted from the serious political news that I am supposed to be perusing Blush
