Oh poor you notyummy. Why does everything always happen at once? Sending you positive vibes.

Librashavinganotherbiscuit · 28/09/2010 08:23

marsha I have this, it's SO soft and comfortable, and comes in bright colours

notyummy that sucks hope the RAC man comes soon and he is hunky.

ollie so sorry to hear about your friend.

I am about to buy this, I want a brown coat for this winter and it looks practical and warm if not stylish

hf128219 · 28/09/2010 08:45

I rarely post on here in the day but NY I really feel for you. There are companies that deliver tyres to your home - next day delivery etc. Try googling it.

roary · 28/09/2010 08:57

Thanks all for the support. ltec hadn't completely caught up before posting, what a nightmare.
notyummy love those tops especially the Zara one but they are not breastfeedable. What a bad day you've had. I sympathise. One of our dilemma solutions is to go long distance for a bit to get the timing right.

Could you all look at my other thread if you have a moment and help me style the birdie dress?

roary · 28/09/2010 08:59

Also marsha I think carciofi's lily and Lionel code works till the end of the month. Am collecting red leopard scarf today.

CHOOGIRL · 28/09/2010 09:20

Am working from home and lurking - but just to say OWW really sorry about your friend.
NY hope you day improves.

Has anyone else been invited to the My-Wardrobe event on Thursday?

FritziGreenEyes · 28/09/2010 09:49

Libra hope you had a great birthday!

Notyummy poor you! hope you get everything sorted soon.

I'm sitting in crowded doctor's waiting room hoping to get rid of cast today! There is a guy sitting opposite with his grandmother. He is showing her clips of her favourite actress from the 40s. She is holding his iPhone and chuckling along. Quite sweet I think. Most people seem miserable and the lady next to me is already tutting at the "noise".

blossoming · 28/09/2010 10:20

Hope you have good news re your cast fritzi, then there'll be no stopping you in London will there?!

marsha, I'm really happy with my stole from mypashmina.co.uk, and only £45 or so. Over a hundred colours, and cashmere/silk.

Racking my wardrobe for 'pieces' to eBay. I have depleted funds!!

notyummy · 28/09/2010 10:23

Thanks for the sympathy ladies.

Am now at work and have managed to get the car booked in at Kiwk Fit near where I live at 6pm tonight to have new tyre put on - just hope plumber is not late or I will not have time to get from house to nursery to pick up DD and then to garage! And all with the prospective of a cold shower and house.... because the leak is coming from the hot water tank so we can't have the hot water or heating on until it is has been fixed/replaced.

Will stop feeling sorry for myself. It's annoying stuff, but not the end of the world. I was in a right grump this morning though...I left the cat whilst wasiting for the RAC and walked down to Costa coffee for a coffee/loo break and the cup starting leaking everywhere on my way back to car! I felt like waving my fists at the sky melodramatically and shouting 'Why, damn you? Why?!' (But didn't!) I sat in the car with my coffee and a school bus drew up to take children to the local school for children with SN. A mum and dad were trying to get their teenage boy on the bus. I think he was probably autistic and was very distressed and very physically difficult for them to handle. Mum was in tears. I had a real 'FGS, NY - stop feeling sorry for yourself' moment. Some people have much harder things to deal with everyday.

notyummy · 28/09/2010 10:24

I left the car whilst waiting for the RAC. Blush

LetThemEatCake · 28/09/2010 10:50

sorry your morning off to a crappy start NY. Hope the day improves.

just to add to the litany of woes - both my boys sick now, from both ends Sad And dd, tho not sick, unhappy, as has been dropped off at nursery while ds2 gets to stay home (But I want to be with yoooouuuuu mama!!)

NY I seem to remember that you bought some good skinny khakis, can you recommend?

Fritzi hope foot released today!

roary will check out your bird thread

oh, and wearing: leopard ballet flats, Fritzi's Roxannes, American Vintage black l/s tee and new caramel-coloured leather jacket, the £3 one. Perfect for wiping clean post-puke Grin

traceybath · 28/09/2010 10:52

Sorry NY but was Shock at why on earth you'd got a cat in your car Grin

Horrid start to the day though.

LTEC - oh no poor dcs. When does DD start school or are you waiting till back in Oz?

Fritzi - hope you get cast sorted.

notyummy · 28/09/2010 10:59

LTEC - sorry to hear about the sickness. There seems a lot of it around at the moment. Fingers crossed that the rest of you manage to avoid it!

I have these. I found them good, with a couple of minor caveats. They are not spray on skinny - more a cross between skinny and straight leg I would say. The metal bits are quite shiny so I buffed them with some wire wool to give them a more 'distressed' look Grin. Sizing is true to size, however as ever too big round my pear shaped waist so you may want to size down or order 2 sizes. Returns are free and they will pick up from your house - one of the reasons I use them a LOT as I just can't get to a Post Office very often!

LetThemEatCake · 28/09/2010 11:06

oh - one more thing - my cleaner a week off recently to fly to Angola and confront her dh, who she suspects of having an affair (they live in separate countries, not really sure why, he comes over maybe 3 months a year) Anyway - she doesn't seem to have returned yet. And I Am struggling to manage all the sicky laundry plus the housework, the dc and work. (plus am a lazy cow Grin)

Can anyone recommend a temp cleaning agency? Is there such a thing?

tracey - she'll start in Jan 2012, when she's 5 and a half. I could start her here in jan (split intake) but am of the "4 is too young" school of thought. Also not worth it for sake of six months or whatever, too much upheaval

thanks for the link NY!

LetThemEatCake · 28/09/2010 11:10

sorry just to clarify - my cleaner has not returned Hmm

LetThemEatCake · 28/09/2010 11:10

oh no hang on I already said that.

coffee might help

notyummy · 28/09/2010 11:22

Molly Maids? here They will do one-off, or occasional as well as regular. may not be cheap though - although agencies never are....

carciofi · 28/09/2010 11:35

NY, poor you, what a day!

Blossoming, can you ebay some of the baby's old clothes? I think I might do that. I have a couple of Whistles and Karen Millen tops that I am thinking of ebaying. I was just about to list a red Marc Jacobs jacket earlier but DH stopped me and said I'd regret it. I am still clearing out and just gave a Theory blazer to a friend, she was very happy. I am half thinking of selling this DVF dress to buy a parka but it is a classic and I probably will regret it. What do you think?

Marsha, I think these look great and also recommend Lily and Lionel or My-pashmina.

LTEC, sorry your boys are ill. Do you have the North Face parka? Do you like it? I am fed up with my Gap parka, it is so old and wrecked.

Roary, that sounds like a tough decision for you.

Choo, what is the event? Am jealous!

carciofi · 28/09/2010 11:38

oh and Fritzi, hope you get your cast off and have a great time in London.

LetThemEatCake · 28/09/2010 12:04

choo yes, I got that invitation too - will you go, do you think?

carciofi I have the North Face Arctic Parka and love it for its toastiness. It's not glam by any means but I am more miserable than usual when cold.

LetThemEatCake · 28/09/2010 12:05

Carci your DVf link just goes to the Saks site?

CHOOGIRL · 28/09/2010 12:27

The event is a Swarkosvi (sp) crystallised event with preview of My Wardrobe.

LTEC Am tempted by the wine and canapes but have drinks planned that eve. Would be quite irritated if I cancelled drinks and the event was dull.

Went to Harrods and stocked up on tights (it's getting cold). Also got some new work Louboutins.

Can't see any photos - am I doing something wrong?

blossoming · 28/09/2010 12:29

Hmm carciofi, I have that dvf and it is a classic. I haven't worn mine for a few years though. Surely it will come in handy one day? I must say I get more wear out of my cap sleeve one.

I have a trapeze style lkbennett dress in teal/peacock/petrol/whatever that I got for last Christmas entertaining (and the suede loopy lous). But due to what happened early Dec. I didn't wear it and now it's too big and the wrong colour. Also my chocolate brown suede pull on JC boots. And some boden bits. I also have some ancient 7s and not so ancient Paige bootcuts. All way too big for those on this thread!

'This too will pass', to you too ltec. I've kept dc1 home as they insist on 24hrs after sickness, but he is right as rain. A long day to be had by all then!

OllieWollieWoo · 28/09/2010 12:31

Carciofi - is it the black DVF wrap dress. I say keep - its a classic.
Fleecy - you inspired me today (in Primark but still....)! Dashed in to buy socks (long navy ones - 2 pairs for 3 euros, to be worn under jeans etc) and their trilby style hats caught my eye. Liked a charcoal grey pinstriped one and a dark grey felt one (both a bargainous 4e each) - was about to put them back and then remembered your post re your Asos hat and thought OWW, just do it! Sure DH will have the same reaction to yours but I really liked they way they looked! Bring on the hats!
LTEC - can't help re your cleaner problem but my old one once left for a month's holiday (also to see her DH who lived in their home country) and then we didn't see or hear from her for 3 months until she turned up on her usual day and time like she hadn't been away at all! She was so good at her job and DSs loved her so I didnt say anything but it was all a bit odd. She then proceeded to tut a lot at my interim cleaning efforts Blush

BTW - isn't it cute when your little ones sing along to the ads on the radio - DS2 sitting here with engrossed in a sticker book singing 'sky radio, 1 0 3 FM'!!!

OllieWollieWoo · 28/09/2010 12:40

Blossoning - I was just on the LK Bennett site - your dress sounds lovely and would fit me but not my colour! Boo. I wish they would do the Tina dress in navy blue - its a perfect style for me just all the wrong colours. This one here is a bit like the one I am wearing to the wedding on Friday - except the bottom half is grey and the chiffon bit starts just under boobs and is straight across and not a V - errrr, so not very like this one then!
