Great title plum! You have a way with language. I still remember a post you wrote months ago!

carciofi, what about having your colours done, disposing of all clothes in wrong colours (you could send them my way maybe...!!), throwing out bobbled, worn, unflattering clothes, then starting again from underwear drawer up?! What fun!

GeorginaWorsley · 24/09/2010 20:55

I remember that dress ltec
Did you ebay it in the end??

notyummy · 24/09/2010 20:55

Just checking in!

hf128219 · 24/09/2010 21:06

Marking my place! Great title.

I have 4 black bin bags to take to the charity shops tomorrow. It really clears the mind - never mind the wardrobe! Smile

LetThemEatCake · 24/09/2010 21:18

LetThemEatCake · 24/09/2010 21:23

wearing black Chloe dress with cut out back, Zara lace tights, Bloch pumps and Primark necklace Grin
have a good one all x

Zembo · 24/09/2010 21:25

Thanks for the new thread Plum Smile

I've got some of the Brora thermals (long sleeved version). They are nice and toasty but I was a bit disappointed that they bobbled after washing (and I did actually follow the instructions!)

bloss I only know about Bara Birth because I've made it from Mary Berry's Ultimate Cake book Grin

My toast order arrived today. ABO you're right this tunic is lovely so am keeping despite having quite a bit of navy in my wardrobe now. I also like the jersey churidars in black. I want to wear them as an alternative to leggings (which I'm not that keen on)and skinny jeans. I think they're expensive for what they are though a shorty like myself might be able to achieve the same look with extra long leggings - will have a think about it. the needlecord tunic is most definitely going back looked like a shapeless sack on me.

Dolce been thinking about you today. Glad to hear your DH is keen to keep you happy. I think that if all bills, car, house stuff was taken care of, I would be happy with a £10K per year allowance. As I've said we don't have that kind of arrangement, but I suggested it to my DH who said it sounded fine (bless him) - I didn't go into details with him and to be honest I don't know how much I spend (as it varies so much from month to month) but anyway just to let you know I've been giving it some thought!

Very impressed with all the cooking and recipes ladies.

carciofi · 24/09/2010 21:57

Yes, Plum, I love your writing. And yours, LTEC. Enjoy the cocktails!

Going to wear a DVF pink/black/white wrap dress (couple of years old) with black Prada heels (very old) and black opaque tights (new!). So no skinny jeans/black top for a change. I am looking forward to an early diner out with my dad and night out with friends ... and a lie in on Sunday as DD and DH are staying in London. Woohoo!

Zembo, the tunic is a gorgeous colour.

Good idea, Bloss, I'd love to get my colours done. I probably go around looking drained when I could be looking in the pink (if, of course, pink is my colour Grin). I am going to spend an hour tidying now and will be ruthless. I have some nice Theory and DKNY suits and trousers that I don't wear at the moment but will whenever I go back to work so will keep those.

I'm off, have a great weekend.

carciofi · 24/09/2010 21:58

Dinner, not diner. Sigh. And I used to be a technical author.

blossoming · 24/09/2010 22:23

Oh wow carciofi a night away. Am so envious. And mine are great, just early waking dc1. Dh driving tomorrow so maybe he'll do early shift Sunday. Actually, he better, seeing as his mum's staying!! Great, lie in for me then!

hellsbelles · 24/09/2010 22:33

it sounds like Carciofi and LTEC are both looking gorgeous. Have fun ladies.

ON that note my book beckons. Night all.

happilyeverafter · 24/09/2010 23:42

Zembo I love those Toast churidars, fantastic shape.

Is anyone else getting a little navy obsessed? I'm so over black but buying muchos navy.

Had friends for dinner tonight and friend went home with a few tops that are too big for me now. She tried on a Jigsaw navy and black silk top that looked so elegant on her, I was pleased I'd remembered to pass them onto somebody.

We have a wedding evening reception tomorrow night, sadly all of my dresses are unsuitable as my legs are covered in bruises and scratches. Did a 36 mile charity bike ride last week and end result was unsightly calves. May end up wearing FC sweater dress just so can wear opaques and cover up the bruising but it's not very wedding-ey.

The Great Plains catalogue arrived today and I love lots of their A/W range although lots seems to be sold out already. FC seem to have regular discount codes but get nothing for Great PLains typically.

Hope you ladies out on the tiles have a fab time and a happy weekend is had by all.

rufus101 · 25/09/2010 01:03

But I want to be a WAG!
Have a great time tomorrow Carciofi. Outfit sounds great! Does your friend have a name that a male could have?

OllieWollieWoo · 25/09/2010 07:33

Love the new title Plum and your cake is very clever LTEC. Fleecy - your holiday pics (and you!) look great.

Who was having their colours done this week? Have I missed the post telling us about it?????

Its our wedding anniversary today. DH has a batchelor party thing today - that starts on the beach at 7.30am (goodness knows why, they are all going to be shattered by teatime - all I know is that it involves looking for a buried treasure chest that the groom and some Uni mates buried 15 years ago!). DH will also get to go go-karting so he practically skipped out of the house at 7am! So, another day of swimming lessons/trip to the market with the boys for company - and its throwing it down with rain! Ho hum.

Just typed a really long rant about my totally irrational dislike of Myleene Klaas after seeing her clutching her tiny bump in todays DM (in a lovely dress, horrible colour), following on from some pics earlier in the week of her swanning down Oxford St with one of her own Mothercare range bags (shameless self promotion imo!)- but have deleted it cos I just sounded mean - so just posting this to get it out of my system and then I can put my judgey pants away and get on with the day!!!!

Librashavinganotherbiscuit · 25/09/2010 08:04

Marking my place, hope everyone has a lovely weekend and good luck with all the birthday parties!

carciofi · 25/09/2010 08:09

Hi Rufus, no, she doesn't.

Happily, yes, I have been buying so much navy that DH has told me it is his colour!

I have a bag of tops to sell so hopefully will make a bit on eBay. :)

DD shouting, bye!

PlumSykes · 25/09/2010 08:41

Morning WAGs!

A beautiful day here today, really sunny but chilly. Am taking the DCs to a manor house near here today, where they have a rural skills day, with sheepdog trials, sheep shearing, basket making etc. Should give DD something to talk about in News on Monday, otherwise she just says 'we went swimming', every week!

Was up horribly early with DS, but have managed to get the playroom tidied and chucked quite a bit of tat, so quite handy to have time before DD gets up really. I've never known such a snoozy child. I'll have to wake my Sleeping Beauty soon!

Just tasted the chutney I made yest, with some vintage cheddar. Is yummers, if not very breakfasty.

Happily, I've always been a big navy fan, find black too harsh. Am in my element this season, need to stock up for years to come!

Librashavinganotherbiscuit · 25/09/2010 08:43

"Should give DD something to talk about in News on Monday"

Are you ever tempted to teach her to say "vodka shots and malboro red"

MarshaBrady · 25/09/2010 08:46

Morning lovely day!

Any of you co-sleepers (former or otherwise) and bfders have tips to stop a 9ish month old want to bf (for comfort not hunger) through out the night?

The waking is getting more frequent rather than less.

Plum are you a fashion writer too?

Romanarama · 25/09/2010 10:16

Morning everyone! I'm another navy fiend, I got a nice theory navy shirt dress from out net the other day. Wore it to the odd ice yesterday (casual Friday) with black leggings, black skinny belt, and Alberta ferretti camel pony skin flats that were one of the first presents DH ever got me. On Thursday I went to Chinese national day party in a navy shanghai tang silk velvet trouser suit with fuchsia lining that was the very first present he ever got me. Got loads of compliments from the Chinese! Don't you love it when clothes go on strong for years and years?

Thanks for the recipes and codes cake. I'm v glad I went back to look at the end of the other thread! Might skip isabella Oliver though as just spent loads on a big box of mini boden for the boys. I like boden for the kids because the customer service is great and the clothes last well. They've refunded me for a few things I told them were faulty, and they didn't even want to see them to check, they just refunded my card the day I called.

Plum, rural skills sounds lovely. I have to go to the supermarket - how exciting.....

Marsha, frankly 'don't get up' was the best advice I ever had about dealing with night waking. Not very mn I know, but it works

Romanarama · 25/09/2010 10:18

Odd ice? Office maybe...

traceybath · 25/09/2010 10:46

Marsha - by 9 months DD had moved out of our room but was still waking a lot. It took her until 12 months to stop waking and wanting lots of feeds - which you probably don't want to hear.

I have actually completely stopped bf now - Bea had her last feed on monday morning and I just haven't offered since then and she hasn't asked.

Boden is good for children and fab customer service indeed.

I also love navy and wear it a lot as do the children.

Gorgeous day here too.

Librashavinganotherbiscuit · 25/09/2010 12:55

I am in primark which is quite frankly terrifying!

MarshaBrady · 25/09/2010 13:04

Thank you Roma and Tracey. Both very helpful .

Even if it took a while it is so helpful to hear as I can try and relax a bit rather than feel I am messing it up.

Party this afternoon, coffee to brighten mood

(wonder if coffee is the reason!)

You are all fab, thanks.

PlumSykes · 25/09/2010 17:52

Will be back later properly, but just quickly before bathtime, a pregnant friend has just emailed me for ideas for somewhere to go for a few nights with her husband and their 20 month son.

She's a v glam beauty PR, so has been endlessly to the likes of Babington House/Cowley Manor etc for work. Think something more low-key might be in order.

She says:

I am dreaming of somewhere in the UK, tranquil, fireplaces, long walks and somewhere cosy my boys and I can enjoy. I'd like it to be relaxed so it doesn't feel work like. Yoga, spa and golf would be welcome, but so not essential. Just somewhere we can rest, play, read books... You get the drift? Ideally no longer than a 4 hour drive from London too.
Equally happy to go somewhere just J and I for a couple of nights but no more than a couple of nights if you know somewhere that may not be child friendly.

Any ideas?
