Glad to hear of good night out Bloss, and that the Bec had an appreciateive audience!
Roman your ap sound bonkers (to use a technical term). Get rid. That business with the wig is just strange. Maybe she has a double life?
For spots, if have any antibiotics left over, I take a days worth. Spots gone in 24 hours. I know it is not good practice, and Zembo will kill me. I went shopping in RL today, and bought these boots in the mink colour As someone said, in another thread "is this a slippery slope. Will I now start perusing the Per Una section?" (shudder) They are v comfortable, but I am still hung up on the Frye boots. I almost bought a pair of biker boots (the KG ones that were linked to previously), but chickened out. these anthropologie boots are sold out in my size And if I got through the US site, they cost about 150 euro extra! Don't understand this. Sigh, the quest continues.

rufus101 · 27/09/2010 00:14

which would you pick?
these ones? Is the buckle too fiddly?
Or my beloved Frye? I know, I am obsessed by that brand.
Actually they are not too bad with the exchange rate, even when tax and shipping is added.

notyummy · 27/09/2010 08:37

Thanks all for the spot tips - will have a look in Boots in the next couple of days. I am used to getting an occasional couple on the chin around the time of the month, but this is worse than that and I keep on finding new ones! Most annoying.

Hope the birthdays all went well - sounds like you were busy Blossoming!

Fleecy - think the model looks great - go for it. Also like the hat.

Rufus - I can't open the second of the two boot links but like the look of the first.

Really nasty weather here today. Am wearing Jigsaw grey tulip skirt with silver/gunmetal silk top and new lace tights with shoe boots. Got to wear my new trench as well - there is a silver lining to all these clouds....

FritziGreenEyes · 27/09/2010 08:38

I'm back from Berlin and a new thread already! Have much to catch up on. Although I was there for work I had a great time. Was out until 2am on Friday and 1am on Saturday. Fortunately I had a four hour train journey home and slept almost from the time the train departed until I arrived Grin.

Hope all the birthday boys and girls had a great day!

roma Shock at your AP. I used to work as an AP in Britain when I was a student and cannot imagine how someone could behave like that. Only excuse would be that she is really seriously ill as indicated by tablets you found. Hope you get it sorted soon and find a replacement.

mrsjuan glad you like the boots. Hope you'll get to wear them often. It is definitely autumn here but I'm still clinging to my ballet flats.

I need to pack our bags for London today. DH is snowed under at work so it will be only DD and me until Saturday.

LetThemEatCake · 27/09/2010 09:22

am also clinging defiantly to ballet flats and refusing to crack out the Belstaffs yet .. but have to admit that I have been wearing flat ankle-length biker boots most days this last week....

L's party this morning! he kept all his food down yest thankfully but still quite listless. Seems more on form today , fingers x'd.

notyummy · 27/09/2010 09:34

Ballet flats - you are brave! After my wardrobe sort out yesterday it is officially A/W in the NY house - mainly because I can't be bothered to rummage through the stuff in the other room for S/S shoes/clothes. Have kept some tees etc out for layering, but all the tiny strapey stuff packed away, apart from a few evening tops.

Hope L is chipper for his 'do'. Most impressed by the cake! Haven't shown it to DH yet - he may feel 'competitive cake pressure.' Grin

LetThemEatCake · 27/09/2010 10:07

it happens Wink

my cow SiL was most put out by the fish one on the w'end, could hardly bring herself to eat it Grin. Thankfully this morning (dinosaur cake) is just with friends and babies - no family!!

blossoming · 27/09/2010 10:07

rufus, I think if you preface something with 'beloved', you should go for it!
Couldn't see the second pair, but I did think the buckle was too fiddly on the 1st. (Ignore me, I wear fly).
There was a thread the other week about Spanish riding boots, and I quite fancied the country boot. They should be waterproof at least, not like the flys. The only thing being that you have to have the 41s made to order.

On another note, I know there are Isabella Oliver fans here, does anyone have the ruched jersey dress? I have a 15% off code (instyle22), and think it could look great for my 40th lunch with the girls? With opaques and sky high platforms?
I would get the heather grey. Good colour for me.

My friend the other night was wearing all black. I wanted to frogmarch her down to the colours woman pronto!!
libra, did you get your colours done? How did it go?

blossoming · 27/09/2010 10:10

Ooh, just had a peek at your profile pics ltec. Such lovely photos, and that cake, wow!
Prosecco at 10am, I'm coming round..!!

DolceeBanana · 27/09/2010 10:27

I seem to have lissed loads of posts before my last post!

Cake - Happy Birthday to baby L! Sorry to hear that he's been poorly...hope he's much better,...and silly SIL! How childish...she sounds entirely jealous of you, even so far as your cake making abilities! Which are pretty good!

You think she'd be happy that her Brother had someone like you...ho hum!

Roma - so sorry to hear about the ap...certainly best to get rid of, you are right! Totally unsuitable for minding your precious DCs....Hmm...England Striker eh? Wink

Anyway, DD, baby is waking at 5 am at the moment....think she's getting chilly...but it's a bit hard going isn't it...especially when you are used to them sleeping through!

Off to sort out baby's 1st Birthday...and pressies....have afab day all!

LetThemEatCake · 27/09/2010 10:36

yes, she is a complete loser dolceGrin

bloss that's the one from P's birthday in August, will post L cake pics later. Glad you had a fabulous night Sat and looked gorgeous - am very impressed at solo breakfasting effort though!! yikes.

right, off we go. See you all later

DolceeBanana · 27/09/2010 10:40

Hi Bloss - glad you had a fab night.

Love the IO dress! I think it would look great how you describe! Are you tall? I just remember getting IO maternity stuff and it all being really long on me, (5'4)...lovely things tho'..

Not going out just yet as DD sound asleep, due to early wakings and being rather poorly recently with cold...hate it when they are ill, she doesn't look her usual sunny self at all...

Interesting about colours Bloss...cannot imagine having them done (thinking Emperor's new clothes syndrome, if that makes sense)...but sort of assume I know what suits me, probably completely delusional)...I am that woman tho' who tends to wear grey, taupe, plum, black, navy in winter and navy and white in summer! My house is a bit like this too, with splashes of raspberry! I just don't really do lots of colours, find them too busy....

DolceeBanana · 27/09/2010 10:51

she does indeed sound a complete loser cake! Have a good day!

oh god, I ate bread at the weekend and suffered completely for it all evening...chronic cramps...! Amazing. I shall stick to oat cakes...

we are planning a christening for DD next, so looking for nice wrappy dress to wear with platform suede wedges and opaques..rather liked the Tea Dress (Boden) in charcoal but have to wait weeks...oh, and talking of colour, I am rather taken with the sulphur colours I've seen in Boden and other places ...whaddaya think fellow blondes and others with colours experience? I have ash-ish highlights and honey coloured skin (i.e. not pale)....my only concession to colour methinks....

notyummy · 27/09/2010 10:53

Ldies H & M is online here for those of you not aware.

Having said that, it is obviously only limited stuff, because my plain blax maxi isn't there.....and neither is my 70s leopard print maxi.

blossoming · 27/09/2010 11:36

Anyway, no stock on IO dress till Oct 25th, so too late for me. I'm 5'7 dolcee. So annoyed though!!

The only reason I mentioned that about my friend was that the black was making her look drab. She's very busy, takes no time for herself, still wears studenty clothes. I've no right to say anything really, we lead such different lives right now.

fleecy, I like the sound of that outfit. How old are you? If you don't mind me asking....

Yangy - I would say Phase 8 a bit big. I bought a slinky Joan from Mad Men style dress from there after a big recommend from this thread. Pleased with the dress, but pretty baggy in places - which was amended for me (for free!) by my sainted mothers help, who runs her own business as a seamstress when she is not helping me and dd out!

Fleecy I like the idea of winter shorts on people with the legs for it. H&M has several pairs in including some dark grey nice woollen ones. See the second picture on this page - I also like the 4th pic here

Glad the parties went well LTEC and Blossoming.

Your mothers help sounds like a saint notyummy - how lovely for you to have her.

MarshaBrady · 27/09/2010 12:17

So. Night one of sleep training and he is doing well not to make that little 'o' shape with his mouth when tired and needing sleep. I'm doing it, dh is off the hook. He has fallen a sleep a few times now without the boob. Woohoo. Ah love him to bits, I say in the mornings it's a good thing you're cute.

Yangy not sure about Phase Eight, but you sound tiny so go for the 8?

As an aside I can't believe someone is jealous of a cake. Enough not to eat it. How utterly ridiculous.. That is my one bugbear - competitive women (usually powerless in some way so have to live out 'successes' in other pointless areas) . How tedious!

Thanks the world again I do not have sil and only know nice successful people... Grin

Fleecy I love that look and think you could definitely do it.
