Lovely comfortable day dress

BelligerentGhoul · 11/09/2010 14:38

I would like a really soft, comfortable dress that I could wear fairly smartly to work, or that would also be nice to just sling on with boots for weekends. I'd like it to be knee length or just over (and am a short arse) and have a scoop or v neck that is okay for norks.

Please help.

Preferably plain rather than patterned. Maybe grey? Or navy?

Oh, pretty please? :)

Like this?

I'm assuming by 'okay for norks' you means yours are humungous and need covering? Grin

purplearmadillo · 11/09/2010 16:26

grey and navy dress

I have this one, which does all the things you mention. I am 5ft 2 and the length is good because its a petite dress. I think they also do it in dark grey/black.

BelligerentGhoul · 11/09/2010 16:27

Need a bit more shape than that. And lower neck, so norks (32E) don't look huge and matronly.

But thank you for trying.

I like the shape of this but not the stripes.

love this but too cas for work?

BelligerentGhoul · 11/09/2010 16:29

I quite like the grey and navy one but the neck is too high.

I think the wrap one would be too long for me.

Denim no good. jersey would be nice, or cotton.

Something like this?

BelligerentGhoul · 11/09/2010 16:31

That one looks nice. Something like that from the high street would be great, as I'd like to try things on in town tomorrow.

kew

BelligerentGhoul · 11/09/2010 16:33

Want something loosier and easier to wear than that Tethers.

Don't like the strange neck on the Kew one, sorry.

Thanks for looking everybody, so far. :)

tethersend · 11/09/2010 16:44

This sort of thing?

HumphreyCobbler · 11/09/2010 16:44

I really like the Kew one

BelligerentGhoul · 11/09/2010 16:56

Like the M&S one Tethers but have still never actually seen it in store.

I've just bought this Kew dress and I think it's LOVELY. Am planning to use it exactly as you described.

I've also been known to recommend the Boden Jersey Tea dress on here. Kittya likes it too but thought it ponged a bit, until she washed it.

niminypiminy · 11/09/2010 18:00

I have that M&S dress Belligerent (actually have it in two colours) and it's an absolute winner -- worth buying from the web site while they still have it.

BelligerentGhoul · 11/09/2010 18:13

Might try the M&S one.

That second Kew one is pretty but too long for my needs and would be frumpy on me (am only 5'2).

Plain better than patterned. I really like the shape of that Monsoon one I linked to but can't find anything else like it.

Off to look at White Company and Dotty P's.

I got this in The Gap yesterday. It's not as short as it looks in the pic. really nice and versatile

BelligerentGhoul · 11/09/2010 18:22

That's nice Squeaver. You don't happen to have a link to the 30% off do you? They never email it to me, even though I signed up.

squeaver how far do the buttons go down on the gap dress? Could it be breastfeeding compatible?

BelligerentGhoul · 11/09/2010 18:28

Found the voucher!
