Lovely comfortable day dress

I would like a really soft, comfortable dress that I could wear fairly smartly to work, or that would also be nice to just sling on with boots for weekends. I'd like it to be knee length or just over (and am a short arse) and have a scoop or v neck that is okay for norks.

Please help.

Preferably plain rather than patterned. Maybe grey? Or navy?

Aye...it is very soft material though, so very comfy rather than structured iyswim.

BelligerentGhoul · 11/09/2010 19:41

Has anybody seen this irl? Too shapeless?

Toast have lovely comfy dresses like this one in thick jersey fabric and plain colours. They dress up if needed and wash and wear very well. A bit pricier than some places but the quality and cut are great. eg the fabric doesn't bobble with washing.

BelligerentGhoul · 11/09/2010 19:46

Thanks Zeno. Not fond of that one though and don't want black.

If I'm going to spend that much, I'll wait for the Anglomania sale! :)

BG- I shall forward gap voucher to your email Smile

I think this looks pretty good.
I bought this one last week, but it just doesn't look right on norks, so it's going back tomorrow... fabric is gorgeous and soft though, and length perfect!

BelligerentGhoul · 11/09/2010 20:02

:)

First one is yummy - but too wintery for what I'm after. Especially now I have to wear a stupid jacket for work! I'd melt!

Second one - mmmm agree re: norks. A shame because I bet otherwise it would have been v cute on you.

Have just bought this jersey dress from LK Bennett:
www.lkbennett.com/clothing/dresses/DRTAI613VISCOSEMIX in plum and grey.

It's incredibly comfortable, and looks fab with black opaque tights and these shoes:

BelligerentGhoul · 11/09/2010 20:17

LOVE those shoes.

The dress is the wrong shape for me though, I'm afraid. Lovely colour.

Sorry BG, I saw it today and thought it might be quite nice but it isn't so good in the piccie iyswim, but the front is lower - was thinking of it for myself as have big norks but also a big post baby tummy which put me off.

Big norks defo suits v necks and wraps and there are a couple on the boden and marks website. Don't totally discount this one as I found a similar one in the hobbs sale in dec last year and suprisingly flattering on the boobs.

good with boots

duckyfuzz · 11/09/2010 20:37

just oredered [http://www.thewhitecompany.com/productdetails.aspx?Id=1000817&ItemNo=JECDD&SelectedItem=JECDD this in ink]] - I hope its as easy to wear as it looks, also have this in purple - its v comfy and cosy

duckyfuzz · 11/09/2010 20:38

oops this

HumphreyCobbler · 11/09/2010 21:13

duckyfuzz I love that white company one

what are their sizes like? old fasioned and realistic, or new fangled and generous?

I am a ten in stretchy stuff in generous places, but have serious norkage so poss a 12 in a more rigourous surroundings

duckyfuzz · 11/09/2010 21:19

I think white co quite normal for sizing, erring on the generous, I am a 12 in other shops and find a medium fits fine
