Use this thread instead! I mucked up the title of the other one Blush

OP posts:

Mmm I think your are right Rufus re the jeans - the black is too marching military with them aren't they.

What about for work? Its really a work pair of boots I need to buy and I already have two black sweater dresses! Blush

I'm really struggling with the boots despite numerous threads in S&B.

RedBlueRed · 03/09/2010 20:31

mrsjuan buy the jeans! I love mine. Grin

RedBlueRed · 03/09/2010 20:33

is/are - sorry I make no sense!

rufus101 · 03/09/2010 20:38

Cain I am desperately seeking a pair of boots. I linked to a few on Javari. I want brown, chunky heel, to wear exactly as you describe. (Have a pair of black from last year)

If it doesn't bore everyone I'll link again, although the consensus seems to be for the second pair.
these in brown suede
the ones which everyone seems to favour
I think you could wear these with black In face I quite like black and brown together (depending on the brown)
I know the aforementioned are £££, but the last pair of clumpy brown boots I got lasted for 7 (!) years, so whatever I get I want them to last. Apparently Frye are indestructible.

Oh yes these Ash as a substitute for the M and S ones which didn't work out I wore mine to death last year and intend to again this year.

vinvinoveritas · 03/09/2010 20:51

hello I am being interrupted by P and DS (it's vin by the way) I shall return tomorrow, things are midly less stressful here but some misguided purchases in past few days and P still being a prat! Busy with exams etc
anyway hope all is well, shall return to snoop at all your fabulous links when I am free from harassment Smile

RedBlueRed · 03/09/2010 20:54

Yes I like those, the second link and the brown/black pair you link to but as you say...£££. Although a lovely pair will last and be worn again and again...but would prefer a higher but still clumpy heel.
Oh this is going to drive me insane I can tell.

Those Ash ones are gorgeous.

vinvinoveritas · 03/09/2010 20:58

2nd/3rd pair rufus, I'd personally go for the second I have some flat boots like the 3rd with both tones and they annoyed me after a while (you can wear them with black though) I think the 3rd would look nicer after they're a bit beaten up
ash boots look really comfy
right going now before I buy anything Grin

rufus101 · 03/09/2010 21:29

I know your pain Cain (ooh that rhymes!) I shall be consumed with finding boots for the next few weeks!

RedBlueRed · 03/09/2010 21:38

Grin @ Rufus You are a poet and you didn't know it!

I have just added these to my basket, not sure what I will wear them with (jeans prob) but I likey.

Very easy to get distracted during this boots hunting business... Blush

Zembo · 03/09/2010 21:42

Roary glad to hear you're feeling better.

Apuski just wanted to empathise with you. I've had feeding issues with both of mine and that whole 'how can I get more milk in' thing is just sooo draining! Things were pretty bad with me expressing ALL milk feeds, seeing an osteopath and having G Ford wanting to use my DD as a case study for one of her books!!!! I had several LONG conversations with her and she was really helpful, and I was desparate. It's so hard not to worry but as Rufus said things will hopefully work out fine. My DD started was around 0.4th centile too and is now almost 50th centile (aged 4), although I don't actually know how as she still eats like a sparrow. Thinking of you anyway.

CHOO that dress is divine.

choo, the dress is drapey, but as I don't have much of a waist, I need a slip for the zip to close smoothly. It's fine on the belly though. Yes, the perfect dress!

RedBlueRed · 03/09/2010 23:08

Sorry, I have been in the 'world of boots'.

Apuski it is only a matter of time. I have just whipped out ds' little red book and he was very close to the 0-4 for his first month and now he is 11, 5'2" and built like a rugby player in size 8 (mens) shoes. Just keep doing what you are doing and have faith.

Tracey, you seem have been under the weather and feeling low iirc since you came back from holiday? Have you checked your iron levels? I sometimes get run down for a while and will take seven seas tonic which picks me up again.

For those with relationship woes, I hope things are improving - I never feel qualified to comment having failed miserably in the relationship stakes but I wish you evey happiness.

Fingers crossed for this Indian September we are being promised. I still want to wear my maxi some more!

rufus101 · 03/09/2010 23:49

Do like those shooboots Cain. Have to say I just want to get into A/W now! Much prefer it fashion wise.

traceybath · 04/09/2010 07:07

EIE there's 25% off Pure Collection with Harpers this month HBT112 - thought of you immediately as the first thing in the brochure is your navy silk shirt Smile

I love Fryes but they never seem to do at size 35 - curse my stupidly small feet.

God - have I really been moaning since June about being ill Blush Would have been hayfever and now a cold but thats it really. And I really don't think I've been low - only when massively sleep deprived.

DH off to pyrenees for a week tomorrow so we'll be making sure he's got everything, H needs a hair cut and I'm off bra shopping alone this afternoon - hurrah.

Have sorted out wardrobe this week and threw away all old underwear but left with hardly anything. Am still feeding Bea a bit (how did that happen at 13 months) but do need some nice new bras.

Apuski - I feel for you regarding the weight gain issues. Bea is still very light and still in infant car seat as too little for the next stage. Luckily my HV hasn't weighed her since she was 6 weeks as just looks at her and says she's fine.

Hopefully the paed can give you some reassurance or good advice Smile

Right better go - Bea has shoes in hand and clearly wants to get dressed.

OllieWollieWoo · 04/09/2010 07:36

Morning. Love looking at all the boot links - there are so many gorgeous ones around this year.
Choo - amazing dress - its lovely to treat yourself after working hard.

Well today is the day of the hen day! House nice and tidy ready for the bride's SIL's onslaught! Weather good so she will probably say we will eat in the garden after all that - will send DSs out to sweep up a few leaves!

Feeling a bit low today. Best friend who lives over here phoned last night to said her Mum (who lives in UK) has been diagnosed with lung and brain cancer. Really upsetting for her and her sister but it also comes after a difficult year for her during which her Dad died very suddenly and her husband has had 3 major operations to treat a long standing medical condition. Just worried about how she will cope mentally/ emotionally - she is a v strong person with lots of friends etc but can see how this year has already been so tough for her. What do you say to news like that - everything seemed so trite. At least she knows I'm here and can help with practical stuff re her kids and DH etc. Sorry for starting the day off on a low note.

Enjoy your bra shopping Tracey - are you going for basics or va va vroom????!!!!

FritziGreenEyes · 04/09/2010 08:26

ollie - Terrible news for your friend Sad. I think it is enormous help for her that you are near and can support her when needed.

tracey - I love throwing out old underwear. It is so nice to have a drawer with lovely new coordinating sets I think. Hope you have fun shopping and second checking iron levels and taking supplements. When I feel really run down I do a seven day course of this, basically a cocktail of various vitamins, minerals, omega fatty acids and other nutrients. There will probably something similar at Boots?

carciofi · 04/09/2010 08:47

Hi ladies, just a quick hello from me.
Ollie, sorry about your friend's mother, that's awful.

Choo, I love the DVF dress. Have you worn yours yet, Bloss?

I spent my money on some personal training sessions at the gym this week so no shopping but hopefully the clothes I have will fit better! I see a few things I like at Pure Collection (including the navy silk blouse :)) so may have to purchase that when I get back from Nice.

Tracey, hope you feel better soon. The Barbour is lovely.

Rufus, I vote for Fryes, I have the Campus boots, they are years old and still get an outing every winter. I have ordered from Shopbop a couple of times. They deliver very quickly but I always get caught for customs. It is still cheaper, I think.

I will be in Dublin the weekend of the meetup so sorry I will miss meeting you all.

My fil and his parter are over and have offered to babysit tonight but dh has a tummy bug. Might go to the cinema, anything good on?

carciofi · 04/09/2010 09:07

MM, meant to say, thanks for posting the La Redoute code. I bought a lovely dress for DD. Did you complain to Ocado? I am sure they will refund the delivery charges at the very least.

Happilyeverafter, I like the White Co dress.

rufus101 · 04/09/2010 09:19

OWW awful news for you friend. People are amazingly resillient thought, and as long as they have good supports (friends like you), they can struggle through.
Carciofi maybe I'll spot you next time you're in Dublin!
DH was up at the crack of dawn this morning to do his first triathlon. He was very nervous last night, particularly as he hasn't done any real training for it. He's like that though. I did a 10 mile and half marathon last year and both times he came alone "to keep me company" and support me, and he hadn't done any training. Naturally fit. (Damn him) Still I am sure he will need lots of TLC this evening.
I really want a pair of Fryes. Failing that a pair of Fiorentini and Baker. (I'm still mourning after the ones I didn't buy last year)second last row, fifth from left The pretender I think they are called.Sorry there doesn't seem to be a way to do it individually.
Have a good weekend everyone. Mine all slept till 9 this morning, so I'm already in good form.

RedBlueRed · 04/09/2010 09:49

Tracey I didn't mean you have been moaning for all that time! Sorry. I think I got the impression you were under par because you made a few negative comments about feeling fat. I probably read too much into it after all, I have 'feeling fat' days on a fairly regular basis but it doesn't leave me low for long.
However, ongoing hayfever might well have impact on your defense system and make you more susceptible to a cold. Do consider a tonic of some kind.

OWW it's so hard to know what to say in such situations, you being there for her and her family will speak volumes though.

Right, I'm off to next to have a look at those boots in the flesh!

blossoming · 04/09/2010 10:48

oww, really sad news about your friend. From a personal point of view I've had the last 8 months of people not knowing what to say to me. I just want to be treated as normal, but to be listened to when I have something to say.

Hope you have a great day today.

Shame about the meet up carciofi. I haven't worn the Bec dress yet but will need to very soon. I've managed to get tanned legs this year (thanks to fat face!) and it would be a shame to let them go to waste! It's a few inches above the knee but I found some Jimmy Choo kitten heel slingbacks in the cupboard. Does that make me seriously on trend? (according to InStyle anyway!)

Re boot shopping. I need to do that in RL. Glad you got the Barbour traceyb. Dh was almost on the floor laughing when I told him I wanted one! (His father used to have one. Men!!)

MarshaBrady · 04/09/2010 16:23

Just want to say hi to everyone as not on here lately. In a different zone atm but will resume normal S&B stylee soon Smile.

See you all soon... Smile

RedBlueRed · 04/09/2010 17:15

Gosh its quiet around here isn't it?

My boot shopping was entirely unsuccessful, the Next didn't have the ones I was looking at in neither did either of the M&S have the little grey ones I liked.
There was just nothing that grabbed me in any of the other shops including Debenhams.

I am going to have to order the next ones and hope I like them.
