What a difference a year makes. This time last year, dc1's first day at primary school. Cried all the way home in the car and put his pyjamas on when he came in to the house. Today, walked home, told me all about his day in his new class, then after a piece of chocolate biscuit cake which I made for him this morning as a treat, he wanted to go to the lake for a bike ride. Lovely. (And those clarks sporty ballets, worth every penny!)

2pm is good for me traceybath. I'll be in London from 10am.

traceybath · 02/09/2010 17:30

Thats lovely Bloss.

H not back to school until next wednesday so I'll be doing the mad new shoes and uniform dash for him on monday.

Big excitement today - got a free bottle of cordial with veg box - boys very happy as I don't buy squash normally.

blossoming · 02/09/2010 17:37

I do love a nice 'equestrian' boot

Zembo · 02/09/2010 17:51

Thanks for the hotel recommendations ladies, will look into them.

I'm easy re: venue as being a northener (originally) haven't got a clue Smile. Will fit in with everyones plans.

Tracey yes my Brora stuff arrived today - it's all gorgeous so only returning the polka dot blouse in the 10 (and keeping the 8 which fits fine). The colours of the cardigans are beautiful and now wishing I'd ordered the navy as well

The heated airer is finally with me too, but still in box so will let you know about it soon.

rufus101 · 02/09/2010 18:39

Nice boots Blossoming
Hmm, have looked at Zara site. There doesn't seem to be delivery option to Ireland, but there is on UK site. Damnation. (stamps foot crossly)

hf128219 · 02/09/2010 18:54

Still reading this thread - just very busy with work and dh is away. I tried on a load of boots in M&S on Saturday - they were all built for russsin shotputters!

And I have quite muscular calves!

There are some nice dresses in Great Plains www.greatplains.co.uk/category/1/womens+Dresses/Dresses.htm

traceybath · 02/09/2010 20:42

HF - whens your DH back and how goes the race?

Esher - are you still in Greece - hope its been lovely.

Bunny - I am not surprised you are feeling exhausted - I've generally found pregnancy much harder than actually having a newborn. I am so excited that you're having twins Grin

mrsjuan · 02/09/2010 21:04

Tracey - jeans are all well and good but that still leaves top, coat & shoes, not to mention accessories! Confused

would dress&sh=0&pge=0&pgesize=200&sort=-1&clr=Navy this make my bum look big?

traceybath · 02/09/2010 21:08

Well if you don't wear a bra like the model - no-one will be looking at your bumWink

I think whistles design for pear shapes - as an apple nothing of theres suits me. But you are slim and pretty so would look fab in anything.

But I think I prefer this one in khaki

mrsjuan · 02/09/2010 21:15

Grin I guess I would be classed as a pear so might try it (with a bra of course)

I like the neckline on that one but don't you think it would look a bit cheap?

traceybath · 02/09/2010 21:22

Yes I did wonder about cheapness - have recommended it to 18 yearold niece as at that age you can do cheap Wink

hf128219 · 02/09/2010 21:31

Tracey Race going well and there's a close run battle between 2 rival yachts. Dh should be back home at the weekend.

blossoming · 02/09/2010 21:39

I was wondering how you were hf. How exciting about your dh's race! Extra 20% off DVF summer stock apparently.

I like both those 'dresses' mrsj and traceyb.

I'm having one of those annoying evenings when everything is a bit out of kilter. First baby didn't settle (that's what I get for praising her this morning), then we had a visitor, then the phone went, and just when I was about to go shredding, my mum calls with blackberries and I just spent ages picking creepy crawlies out of them. So no shredding, and DH back in stressed work mode, like our holiday never happened.

Looks like we might not be going to the academics dinner after all next week, but to a wedding party in the golf club instead. After my outfit planning too. Anyone seen a good top to wear with jeans??

Everything - that hat will suit you down to the ground.

I bought a trilby the other day (in my delusional bid to become Cheryl Cole Hmm )

RedBlueRed · 02/09/2010 22:24

I adore that hat Everything.

Fleecy · 02/09/2010 22:39

Oh eie I can just see you in that - perfect!

Are we meeting at 2pm then? The sooner I can buy my tickets the cheaper they are. And that means more money for clothes Grin

I like trilbys - have a brown checked one and occasionally wear it with a side ponytail (and clothes, obv!). Hadn't through about the Cheryl thing though. I was going for Cameron Diaz - that girl can rock a trilby/red lip combo.

OllieWollieWoo · 03/09/2010 07:59

Everything - that hat is lovely, like Fleecy said I can really picture you in it. I love hats but sadly they don't do much for me - I'm the muppet in Accessorize that puts one on, then runs round looking for a mirror without realising what I actually look like ie not very good. Am determined to find a trilby that suits me this winter tho!
Hf - v exciting re DH's race.

Blossoming - nice boots. I'd seen these here and also like the black short biker boots but would prefer them in brown.
Things are looking hopeful on the meet up front - just waiting for DH to check work commitments so I can come over on the Friday. I love the Wolseley - used to be our regular haunt when we lived in London (helped that we knew someone on staff!!! Went there a couple of days before our wedding and my pudding had 'good luck on Saturday' written in chocolate on it!) Its a celebs spotters paradise too!

Have got my (Dutch) friends hen do tomorrow! Her SIL to be has organised it and its all a bit Hmm. We were going to Ghent for the day and have a boat trip round the city but one of the guests freaked out at this idea as she cannot swim so now we are having lunch here at my house (picnic idea has been cancelled due to weather!), but some of the guests are not arriving until 2pm so guess its more of an afternoon tea. We are then going into The Hague to go round some art gallerys who are having a special art open day (SIL does something with art for a job so obviously has a real interest in going - not sure about the rest of us esp as its going to be heaving with people and there are 8 of us!). She has yet to book a restaurant for the evening. Oh yes, and the bride knows nothing about it - we have to try and ambush her (she lives 2 doors away and her DH-to-be is in on the plans). Trying to be relaxed about it all esp as the Dutch have a different way of doing things and I know its a really hard thing to organise and you are never going to please everyone but ..... ! Wardrobe dilema not helping either - need something that works for day into nightime and have nothing!

Am now off to tackle the tidying/de-cluttering ready for tomorrow! Have a nice Friday everyone!

OllieWollieWoo · 03/09/2010 08:00

Sorry - just re-read my post - I sound whiney don't I?!

traceybath · 03/09/2010 08:04

You don't sound whiney OWW - I'd be stressed about that too. What are you making for lunch?

Doesn't help that the weather is very odd at the moment so difficult to know what to where.

EIE - gorgeous hat but like OWW - I just don't suit hats unfortunately.

blossoming · 03/09/2010 08:28

Sounds v stressful ollie. I'm sure I've mentioned my extreme loathing of hen nights before!
Shame about the weather. Really beautiful here. What's the weather like in Germany fritzi? my parents are off on another camping holiday there tomorrow. Mad people.

Sainsbury's shopping today. Well that's the morning taken care of at least!

Tonight I've got the mothers group thing. They made me chair last time so have to go. We're having a dancing class. Am opting out of drunken (and smoking) shenanigans and driving.

OllieWollieWoo · 03/09/2010 08:39

Everyone was supposed to bring stuff for the picnic so they are still doing that (mix of crab salad, chicken wraps, quiche & apple tart). The bride loves scones so I am making those to serve with clotted cream etc and providing some champers. (I'd orginally suggested we go out for a high tea especially given the (late) time which the other guests cam make it but SIL is a control freak apparently!). She is turning up early to quote "decorate your house"! I've got some cath kidson-like bunting and heart shaped balloons but not sure what else she has in mind! DH and DS are escaping for the afternoon!

Oh yes - classic from DS1 today (aged 5). I asked what he wanted for breakfast and he replied "I'll have porridge please sweetheart"! Really made me smile!

monkeysmama · 03/09/2010 10:22

Quick check in from me - day of doing jobs. Already been to the post office to collect a parcel, supermarket and park, shredded and put dd down for her nap.

Annoyed with Ocado atm - my 830 latest delivery arrived at 330 the other day Hmm. At least it arrived I suppose.

The M&S boots are going back. They look really cheap (I didn't realise they weren't leather) and are a very odd fit. I don't like them at all.

La Redoute biker jeans and these trousers finally arrived (their delivery and customer service is pretty poor) and are both going back. They still haven't sorted their sizing problems and the trousers are massive. The jeans are the same size and fit but the denim looks cheap.

Waiting for a Figleaves parcel with loads of bikinis to try.

So, another trip to the post office for me this afternoon with all my returns Hmm.
