Use this thread instead! I mucked up the title of the other one Blush

Morning all.

I had forgotten about the Pret a Portea option at the Wolseley! DH took me there for that very thing when I was heavily pregnant - felt a bit whale like amongst all the fashionistas, but in retrospect I had quite a cool maternity dress from Top Shop on, so hopefully I pulled it off. Tea was lovely!

Sympathy on the early morning waking. I remember DD went through 2 long phases of waking any time from 4 45am onwards, and DH and I would take it in terms to sit in the darkness in her bedroom cuddling her until (eventually....sometimes an hour later...) she would fall asleep. Happy days..... (not)

Foggy here today, but apparently nice later, so I am bare legged in black slightly puff ball skirt and ditsy print top with wedges. Woke up with a killer headache AGAIN this morning - my body really doesn't like this whole dieting malarkey! Another pound down though, so 4 in 48 hours. Thanks for whoever suggested the omelette - it was the first thing yesterday that I genuinely enjoyed eating. Touch of smoked salmon - yum!

Zembo - I will suggest the fast to my DH, although I am not sure he will take up the challenge. He is v slim but likes his food! Re hotels, I stayed in the Four Seasons Docklands in Feb, which does really cheap rates at the weekend and has amazing spa/gym. Kids can use pool etc at weekend. Was about 15 mins on the train to centre. Room only rates though, and breakfast is £££ - better off going to the big mall literally round the corner where there are loads of restaurants.

Will have to have a look at Gap, Zara and H & M online later, although am trying to be good after having a bit of a spree in early August!

I thought about Pret a Portea too but thought most of us are off the cakes aren't we?

I am so excited about Zara on line. I always find bits I like in there and as I hardly ever get to the rl shops it is going to make my life happier. Off to browse now.

Also, M&S boots arrived. Will try on at nap time and report back later. Nudie jeans arrived yesterday too and I really like them though am thinking I might need to try the higher waist option too in the vague hope it might hold the muffin in.

notyummy · 02/09/2010 09:39

I'm sure i could make an exception for a special occasion.... Wink

Nice jeans MM - I have these nudie jeans and they're lovely.

I'm totally happy to do afternoon tea and will certainly forgot diet for one day Grin.

Also means I get to have a little potter around the shops before we meet.

I still feel dreadful and think 2 youngest also have the same hence the early wakings and general grumpiness.

Gorgeous day though Smile

Nice stuff on zara for children and I like these shoes

OP posts:
monkeysmama · 02/09/2010 09:58

I like those shoes too Tracey. I quite like Zara's shoes and think they're good quality. I have three pairs of Nudies not including the new ones (inc a pair Vino gave lucky me Grin) but have been looking at the Starceys. How do they fit on the waist? Are the quite a high waist? I may order them and try them on. I have around 30 pairs of jeans and I want to get rid of them all apart from the ones I love that fit and start again.

I don't feel well either - can't put my finger on what's wrong. Just feeling lethargic, tired and a bit sick and achy. Hope you're all better soon.

Off to the movies on the Southbank with dad and sis tonight. Might wear something a bit nicer than usual park attire.

blossoming · 02/09/2010 09:59

Traceybath, sorry you're still feeling poorly, and bad news about the early morning waking.
Dc1 has always woken before 6am; dc2 used to wake at 4am, and today dc3 woke at 7.40! Good job I had her last.

Did the school run today. Nice to be back in routine again. Dh commented I looked great for it. Is he lurking??

Like the Barbour, this is the one I'm after. Thanks for the sizing info. Will size up.

Lots of links to look at. Will be back later.

notyummy · 02/09/2010 10:02

There seems to be loads of bugs going around at the moment - either flu/cold things or D & V. Just in time for the new term - not good.

Hope those of you suffering feel better soon. At least my headache is self inflicted...

OP posts:
blossoming · 02/09/2010 10:13

With 4lb down, I think I could cope with a headache notyummy. Good for you. I don't know what to do really. I am tempted with Dukan, but it goes against all my healthy eating principles that I don't think I could do even one day a week just protein. I think I've done the difficult thing by giving up sugar and therefore processed food. It's just so tempting though. I think if I could be 9st 8, the belly wobble would disappear. Or maybe not. Maybe by just carrying on the way I am, walking the school run and shredding every day, I'll reach my goal anyway.

I'll stick my neck out and say that afternoon tea will probably be too late for me as will need to catch 1710 train home. I think they start serving at 3.30pm. The Wolsely has very reasonable cafe food served all day. Do we know how many are thinking of coming?

notyummy · 02/09/2010 10:23

Blossoming - I know what you mean! I feel very naughty for succumbing to the diet thing, as I am generally a staunch avocate for not excluding any broad food group (except for those with allergies obv.) It just doesn't feel 'balanced' (er, probably because it isn't...) and in the long term for some people, cutting out a whole range of food groups is just another form of control/disorder IMHO (Orthexia, I think it is called - as opposed to the the other problems around food.) I suppose i am very sensitive to it given my past history. I have promised myself 3 days and then no more. I only wanted to lose a maximum of 5 lbs anyway. Having given myself a kickstart, I now intend to try and be a little bit more disciplined in how I apply the Low GI priniciples I usually use.

I also take my hat off to Cake - how you manage your runs on low carb eating is impressive. Went to the gym yesterday and managed a gentle workout (400 cals down), but the idea of trying to repeat the 7 mile run I did on Monday (with some carbs inside me!) was a non-starter. Perhaps in the longer term the body adjusts??

OP posts:
rufus101 · 02/09/2010 11:49

NY I find that too. Just can't run if I don't have (good) carbs inside me, and as I love to run, would find a diet that excluded carbs totally really difficult. But hey as a kick start it's fine.
Love the Barbour (both), am slightly loving the second one more, as it looks more cosy!
Tracey I know you are tiny so maybe not the best person to ask, but what is the sizing in the nudie jeans? I am a 26 in J brand, but J brand tends to accomodate the curvier (!) of bum. Would love a pair of jeans that cost less £££ than the J Brand.

traceybath · 02/09/2010 12:44

Rufus - I think nudie are pretty much the same as J Brand and I am so not tiny at the moment Grin

Although working on it.

Hells - where are you?

CHOOGIRL · 02/09/2010 12:52

Hi all

Not posted much as first week back at work been hectic. Working from home today, as dd first day in Reception (sob). She was quite non-plussed about it. I guess the fact she was in the Kindergarten last year helped.

Lanesborough was excellent. Food, service, ambience. Pizza Express tonight - oh the double life I lead.

Venues for meet up look great - did we agree 16th?

Tracey Any news on the Gigis? Hope you are feeling better.

MM I'm desperate to be slim again too. May try giving up wine, not this week though!

GeorginaWorsley · 02/09/2010 13:07

Like those Zara shoes tracey
Monkeysmama tell me more about your Marks boos,I have my eye on a knee length black patent pairSmile
My youngest DC started school yesterday too,and DD2 started high school today also Sad
I've always had a little one either on the way or at home whenever any of my others started school.
No more now though!

GeorginaWorsley · 02/09/2010 13:07

boots,obvBlush

bunnymother · 02/09/2010 13:16

Quick post from me... Zara going online has given me a real boost - its def my fave shop. Tracey - like those shoes! I 2nd MM's comments re Zara shoes - only worked out well for me and I have several pairs.
Isn't this black city bag lovely?? Am v tempted. Although think should get this cross body bag.

Full time nanny starts 29 September - yay!! I am a tired out and actually need the help (says the pampered Westerner). And my current PT babysitter is leaving me after next week - not looking forward to a babysitting dry spell!!

I would prefer the Wolseley over the Berkeley, but will be eating cake wherever we go (if you thought I ate a lot last meet up, think again!! Grin).

bunnymother · 02/09/2010 13:18

Oh, another option is the cafe in The Wallace Collection - just behind Bond St just off Marylebone High St - less jam packed than The Wolseley. But I am happy wherever. Should those w transport issues (ie not me!) decide??

notyummy · 02/09/2010 13:19

Looks like the Wolseley is winning!

AllBuggiedOut · 02/09/2010 14:20

Aargh, don't believe it - Ocado has just e-mailed to say that due to operational reasons they can't deliver my order tonight! The order was all the food for DS2's party on Saturday. The last thing I want to do this afternoon is go to the supermarket Angry Sad

bunnymother · 02/09/2010 14:41

WTF?! I hoped they had sorted that out (had same problem yesterday w my order) - poor you ABO!! Word in the playground Grin is that GBP25 voucher is to be expected. But what a pain!! Bet I get a similar email re my order tomorrow. NOt the disaster it is for you, though. Can you get to your local Waitrose today and get them to deliver tonight/tomorrow?

notyummy · 02/09/2010 14:47

Sorry to hear that ABO - having just done the party thing, I know how frustrating it is having planned how you will tackle things, to have your organisation foiled!

OP posts:
AllBuggiedOut · 02/09/2010 14:50

Hmm order is rebooked for tomorrow evening (with £25 discount and no delivery charge). But I'm now worried the same thing will happen with that delivery too Confused. Think I'll chance it as have masses to do tonight already, although if it's cancelled tomorrow I may have to take all 3 boys plus 2 I'm borrowing for the day to the supermarket as school is unexpectedly shut

florenceuk · 02/09/2010 15:44

New system at work has suddenly let us surf to our hearts content including Ocado shopping and Googgle mail! Yoox currently have free delivery (usually £6) so have ordered these to try out in the black. Hope these are sufficiently on trend and that chunkiness will detract from skinny ankles and calves which mean most boots look baggy. Also this tunic at the white company here which I think somebody linked to before and their slim black trousers - so my Autumn shopping has really begun. Sunny outside but it definitely has an Autumnal feel to it out there. Plus DS has just started at his new school so headed off this morning in tie and blazer...

Still on the look out for a small (size 35) flattish ankle boot to wear with slim trews and skirts (if that doesn't sound too yuk), if anybody has seen something suitable let me know. And a nice tweed jacket (must get around to sending back my Boden one)...

mrsjuan · 02/09/2010 16:29

Just popping in to add my name to the meet up roll call - I don't mind either venue and will definitely be eating cake.
The last train back foe me is 9pm but I can always find a place to stay if we're staying up late Grin. I will be ever so nervous to meeet you all though and can forsee tears at bedtime over outfit choosing!

traceybath · 02/09/2010 17:01

MrsJ you are funny - as its october I will undoubtedly be in jeans.

So what time is best for everyone then? 2pm? or earlier or later? For the first part of meet-up to be continued at 6pm in a bar somewhere I presume to enable LTEC to come along too.

Zembo - has your brora sale stuff arrived - I ordered a very nice cashmere cardigan - just navy and round necked but such lovely shape and quality.
