Use this thread instead! I mucked up the title of the other one Blush

zembo I have also been wearing Brora cashmere socks in the evenings! Yesterday I started off wearing a dress with bare legs and sandals but had to change to black tights, court shoes and add cardi in the afternoon Shock

everything I got an Oasis leather pencil skirt on eBay for £15 and it's surprisingly nice. Very tight though so bit hobble-y but it's not like I'd be running lots in heels and a leather skirt so it doesn't matter. Some of them on eBay looked a bit overly shiney so I'd watch out for that.

bunny I like all three coat colours. Not much help but a vote for whichever you choose Grin

fritzi I'm afraid I'm not sure about your coat link - although I think it might be the length as I tend to go for shorter coats.

mm your DD made me smile. Impressed that she's training though as DS was 2 in April and I don't think he's probably really ready, although we plan to try after holiday as, like tracey he should be starting pre-school in the new year. Can't actually remember when we did DD as she just decided not to wear a nappy one day so that was a bit easier!

hf128219 · 25/08/2010 21:54

Yes, it is freezing!

Potty training? My dd was 2 in January and shows no interest whatsoever. She poured milk into the potty and said 'Me done wee wee' Smile and then says 'Me not ready, me like nappies'

Ah well, all when they are good and ready.

FritziGreenEyes · 25/08/2010 22:18

Agree that coat is just not quite right fleecy. Will forget about it and try to be patient while trawling second hand shops for one I really love (and can try on in RL).

FritziGreenEyes · 25/08/2010 22:21

Forgot to say cakey: Saw pictures of you in hummingbird Tibi on your blog and you look fantastic! Very model-like in fact. Love the pictures, very artistic. Did you DH take them?

FritziGreenEyes · 25/08/2010 22:23

your DH obviously. Going to bed now...

LetThemEatCake · 25/08/2010 22:27

you;re sweet fritzi. Yes, dh took them on the iPhone and they only look model-like as there was no flash and it was night time (so you can't really see me) Was behaving in distinctly unmodellish way dancing about and saying "swoosh!! swoosh!! Swoosh!!" and generally being a prat but think the whole end blurry effect is quite nice and a bit spooky!!

he is very clever though Smile

thank you! I will tell him.

And I am now thinking hmmm, maybe shearling not navy smart coat??

will decide when it is AUTUMN!! not yet!!

Hello hoping you lot can help me, in one of the magazines this month I saw a love-bird necklace for only £15 and now I can't remember which magazine or brand it was! Has anyone else seen it?

Hope all well and holidays have been enjoyed.

DolceeBanana · 26/08/2010 09:05

Hello....gosh weather hideous! Off to chums for coffee this morning and a play, that's about it I think (had planned on park, oh well)....Tracey we have just bought some old books for the DCs...Peter Pan, Just So Stories and James and The Giant Peach so immensely looking forward to reading with them...

In a bit of an inner turmoil as my baby off to school in Sept and DD1 off to pre-school. Looking forward to having some time with just baby and me...oh, the prospect of freedom(!), but secretly anguished about my babies all growing up.....

Almost popped the heating on when we got back from my nephews birthday celebrations yesterday...(yes, another one!)...but wrapped up in cashmere wrap instead...made Tarragon Chicken and had nice couple of glasses of Champagne with DH last night. And, Cake don't think we are losing interest in thread!

FritziGreenEyes · 26/08/2010 09:34

Morning all! Went to see a different doctor today and got another aircast. Turns out the model I was given by previous doctor was completely ineffective for my injury. Have to wear it for six weeks now which means I still can't wear any decent shoes when we come to London next month and can't do any sports. Might try some Pilates this afternoon though. Sorry about all the whining.

libra - My first impulse was to direct you to Alex Monroe for the love-bird necklace but I'm sure they don't do one for £15 Smile.

Have you made a decision on the coat yet bunny?

My Mum just called and I didn't pick up the phone because I don't feel like talking to her right now Blush. Feel a bit childish but can't face dealing with her issues right now.

Very quiet here. Where is everybody?

Hope the weather gets warmer soon and everybody can shed their cashmere and dig out gladiators and maxis.

FritziGreenEyes · 26/08/2010 09:41

dolcee - Your cooking skills sound amazing! Mango jerk chicken the other day and now tarragon chicken. Yummy!
Can imagine that it must be strange seeing your little ones grow up so quickly. And starting school or pre-school is a big step.

PlumSykes · 26/08/2010 09:57

Howdy hunnies.

Back from a few days staying with friends in Kent. They are both actors and constantly on health kicks/juice fasts etc, both run every morning. Made me feel utterly hoggish by comparison. I got really into eating their way, but then the 4 hour drive home in such bad weather I couldn't see the car in front meant that I had NO CHOICE but to eat 2 of the hot X buns I'd bought for the DCs. NO CHOICE, I tell you!

Agree thread is quiet beacuse of hols, and also, for me at least, school hols with both DCs at home means less routine/less time generally for MNing.

The weekend was a complete Horreur Show. SIL and her 12 yr old DD came to stay, and on Sat we went to The Shops, to get her DD jeans, school shoes and a coat. It was hellish. Sulky, sullen, rude and utterly abhorrent. At 12! If this is the future for me and my DD, then I resign now.

Hope launch goes well today, Cake.

Back later, when DS has stopped squawking.

vinovino · 26/08/2010 10:39

plum my sister is 12. She's awful!!! Really rude and mean and sulky and bullying and arrogant and oh, I could go onShock I keep worrying that if she is this unpleasant at 12 what will be she be like at ooh..15?? (I know that makes me sound horrible, I'm being objective I promise you)

LTEC would love to meet up nearby, sometime after september 15th would be best for me (other than 20-22) but if you want to meet mm before that then of course go ahead, I am just v stressed with exams and work issues. arrgh

tibi or not tibi had me chuckling for a good half hour by the way Grin

Well it's pretty grim and cold here. So grim and cold in fact that I am lusting after monkey's jacket, the one I sent back

I am going to avoid the whole shearling thing because I just feel like a sheep in shearling. I had one of those shaun the sheep bags when I was a child and it gives me terrible flashbacks. If you are stylish and model-like though I think it would look lovely!

Right.. back to work... [sulks]

rufus101 · 26/08/2010 10:53

MM was practically on the floor reading your DD's comments. My 6yo has no idea what tampons are. She asksed and I said "they're tampons, mummies use them", end of questions. So didn't want to traumatise her by a detailed explaination!
TB. saw a fab leopard 50's style jacket on Plumo. Will link later. Only £69.
Was also looking forward to reading the Enid Blyton books , but reading the Amelia Jane books with my DD, couldn't help being struck by how patronising and politically incorrect they are. Couldn't stop laughing half the time.

PlumSykes · 26/08/2010 11:45

bunny, just back from Tesco, saw this. Cheap as chips, wear it to death, bin it once the babies are born. Had it in red too.

PlumSykes · 26/08/2010 12:01

Am sure you're right Vin, it's just usual 12 yr old behaviour. Though am sure when I was 12 we went to Clarks, my mum gave me 2 equally unattractive options, and hey-presto, we'd got my school shoes. None of this tantruming about wanting thin-soled ballet pumps (which she would have to walk in for over a mile in day, rain or shine). Harrumph!

rufus101 · 26/08/2010 12:02

Love the shearling Tracey. I got one from my DH on 1st wedding anniversary 9 years ago and have worn it every year since. It looks as good now as the day I got it. And it's so warm and cosy. Have never gotten as nice a present since!

OllieWollieWoo · 26/08/2010 12:05

Libra - was it any of these here? Also - how are your grey La Redoute boots holding up in this wet weather? Have you treated them with something?

I'm def not fed up with the thread - just a bit ho hum about the weather and having to wear A/W stuff way too early. Torrential rain here today - i'm in converse (yes with wet feet post school run), jeans, white tunic top, grey waterfall cardi and a butterfly scarf - soemthing I would normally be wearing in Oct/Nov!

The Vietnamese restaurants last night was fab - a really good find. Had lovely beef with ginger and chicken with lemongrass along with lots of side salads, spring rolls, rice wraps and asian style dips - shared between 4 of us I might add!

FritziGreenEyes · 26/08/2010 12:21

Thanks for the link tracey! This is exactly what I was looking for. I think I'm in love Grin

OllieWollieWoo · 26/08/2010 12:26

How cosy is that coat?!!!! You would never want to take it off! Fritzi - you deserve a treat after all the hassle with your poor foot! Go on!

LetThemEatCake · 26/08/2010 13:19

Waiting for train home, what a disastrous day (timewise) trains cancelled or just missed, don't like being away from the dc too long, will be back too late to take P swimming, ugh

also had to give in and wear tights and blochs with navy wallis dress this am so am in grump as feel more work-confident in heels.

Anyway, all done now. Just want to get home.

libra I think eie knows a good jewellery site where pretty and inexpensive birds abound, hopefully she will be along some time today.

plum many teens and pre-teens seem to be quite foul these days, even younger girls than that (my dd quite the petulant so and so where clothes concerned, at times). I do fret for the future but hope maybe she'll just get it out of her system if I'm quite relaxed about it (also seems quite hypocritical to get cross since my whole mood can easily be ruined by wardrobe thwarting or heavier weigh-in)

Adore that Joseph coat!!

fritzi I often want to avoid speaking to my mum, ESP when I have a lot on my own plate. You are perfectly within your rights!! So sorry about your cast.

dolce you are domestic goddess

oww is the bonaparte scarf? I love that one!

LetThemEatCake · 26/08/2010 13:40

Happy birthday rufus. all good wishes for the year ahead. Mwah

traceybath · 26/08/2010 14:26

I am in slobbing clothes today as have got dreadful period pains and we're not going anywhere.

Skin has also gone to pot since periods returned - oh yes - I'm feeling super-attractive Hmm

That joseph coat is sooo lovely and I think pretty timeless as these things go - LTEC - I can so imagine you in that too. Fritzi - glad you liked it Smile

Am trying to get ds1 to do some piano practice and a little bit of writing to get back into the frame of mind for school - however he appears to have forgotten everything Hmm

Plum - teenage girls scare me. My niece is 18 and lordy has she been hard work for my sister - so emotionally draining.

Bea is already exhibiting drama-queen tendencies so the teenage years in our house will undoubtedly be such fun Wink

LTEC - hope you're home and nice and dry now. And don't worry - I'm predicting an indian summer for september.

DolceeBanana · 26/08/2010 14:43

Hello ladies...Happy Birthday Rufus! Hope you are having a fab day!

Freezing cold and had a rather embarrassing/stressy end to my morning where my tantrumtastic 3 year old DD bit her older brother and drew blood as we were leaving our friends house! Cue hysterical screaming and crying from both as I dragged them home....baby was looking as if to say 'WTF?'...and my friends baby started crying. Friend is a fab woman, sincere and wordly so tried to help calm things...bless...although she was probably thinking WTF? too!!!

Anyway, Fritzi - these things are so easy schmeezy to make and I am so not a domestic goddess Cake!

Tracey - teenagers scare me too...saw my nephews cousins yesterday and they both went to v good schools (well educated, properly brought up) and only thing they can say is 'alriiiiiiiight' in that style that Catherine whassername does so well when depicting teenagers...rest of the time they is talkin' like this and that, right...My frustrated SIL (their Aunt) asked them to speak properly, a bit like when I get my 4 year old to pronounce the g's on the end of his words!!!!

When is H back to school T?
