Lovely! Was that your purple ysl dress?

So what do we think of the new j brand gigis - I am not feeling the love I must say.

rufus101 · 24/08/2010 20:08

Gosh, they are truly awful TB And with those sandals, although I can't think what would look good with them.
When the model looks awful, what chance do mere mortals have?
I'd have no problem going for botox, but I just can't seem to pick up the courage to go to someone. Now that my Dsis is back here, she can do the legwork for me and see who is good!

hellsbelles · 24/08/2010 20:09

it was indeed...but it's too big now! I'm going to have to get it altered. I couldn't believe it as I hadn't bothered to try it on before we went. It was positively baggy which slightly ruined it (apart from on the bottom area..which was huge because of croissants)

I can't get your link to work! But I do quite like a bit of 'cropped' trouser! (which is what I think they are from various blogs). I find it's a little more summery than full length. Though why I'm worried about 'summery' is this weather I don't know Wink

Have to go watch prison break! See you all later.

LetThemEatCake · 24/08/2010 20:37

well done on the Outnet buys tracey and glad you had a nice lunch with your sis. Laughing at the 20 year olds!! Good luck with the potty training.

Happy birthday for Thursday rufus!!

well done Zembo, must feel good (kind of?)

almost done on the holiday packing - quick question- Tibi hummingbird maxi or no Tibi maxi? am not likely to have any child-free time so not really worth it, right?

off to look at La Jolie Hells' photos of gay paree!!

traceybath · 24/08/2010 20:39

I wouldn't bother LTEC unless you plan on dressing for dinner chez Cakey Villa Grin

traceybath · 24/08/2010 20:42

Hells and MM - a little leopard - saw this in RL and it was rather nice.

DolceeBanana · 24/08/2010 21:03

Yes...spent the afternoon taking my new jacket on-and off and on-and off Wink ...It's fitted, and very neat and classy I have to say! And I do like the colour! Not olive in the trad sense of Barbour wear, no...quite dark, and figure it will go with everything anyway...

I do love that Tibi Cake...you never know! How would it pack tho'? If not small enough forget it...but beautiful dress!

I also love the YSL Hells....really want a drapey no. like that for winter with sleeves...

Glad you had a nice time in oxfordshire Tracey...

Cooked Jerk Chicken with Mango, veg and Rice tonight..was a real hit! DCs (despite the rather spicy heat) loved it!

Still no news on house front...suspect people have cold feet! Maybe suggestion of a double dip recession in the news hasn't helped....

LetThemEatCake · 24/08/2010 21:08

hmmm, I suspect you're right and it should stay at home. Was just thinking that on previous hols we have pushed the strollers until the dc fall asleep and then chosen the nicest looking restaurant in the vicinity to eat at (outside of course, avoiding pram-jam)

But hey ho.

hells you look sensational and so so slim. Whenever I see you I am tempted to become carnivorous again so as to be able to do Dukan and look like you Smile

DolceeBanana · 24/08/2010 21:12

DH twanging his guitar ...oooh...owwww.....!!!!

So when are you off on hols Cake?

Capsule wardrobe - how's it going?

LetThemEatCake · 24/08/2010 21:16

See by Chloe garden print blouse x 1

halter sundress x 1

traceybath · 24/08/2010 21:20

That sounds fab - I'd take mini over shorts personally.

DolceeBanana · 24/08/2010 21:21

blimey...well organised !

Sounds good!

DolceeBanana · 24/08/2010 21:22

Yes...I'm a mini rather than shorts gal too...

DolceeBanana · 24/08/2010 21:24

right girls...off for early night....DH has at last stopped twanging! Oo-er...have a good night all!

monkeysmama · 24/08/2010 21:49

Cakey are you planning on doing any visiting? Churches and some other monuments enforce the no bare shoulders/legs etc. so worth taking a big scarf. Can you squeeze the Tibi in? I have forgotten which part you're going to but there will be lots of beautiful people in beautiful clothes around.

Right, just shredded. Off for a shower.

LetThemEatCake · 24/08/2010 21:59

good point mm. Would a lightweight black cardi do, do you think?

I had this very issue on my first trip to the Vatican. Without meaning to offend anyone here, and fully acknowledging the fact that I was a snotty little know-it-all 20-something, I will confess that I incensed my Catholic (male) friend at the time by saying "why did God bother giving me shoulders and arms if he finds them so offensive?"

Blush
monkeysmama · 24/08/2010 22:04

Should be fine as long as it covers you all. Some places extend it to LO ones too and definitely to men as well. Can get a bit chillier in the evenings too depending on where you are. If you're near any of the lakes take insect stuff. The So Organic shop in Greenwich does one which is ok for LOs. It was a life saver a few summers ago when dd was little.

hf128219 · 24/08/2010 22:10

MM Good thinking re visiting churches etc.

LTEC Have a fab holiday! I would take the Tibi maxi - you know, just in case. In case of what I don't know!

I have nothing avid and wise to say. I hate this weather - it's neither here nor there and it's so difficult to know what to wear.

hellsbelles · 24/08/2010 22:18

oh Cake I am jealous. Take the Tibi for sure. I agree with mini rather than shorts. Much easier over wet bikini bottoms after the beach. you don't get same soggy bottom.

For catholic coverage...do you have a big scarf/shawl type thing that could do the trick? you do glam draping type things.

As for weight - I am nowhere near as dedicated as you - and I'm not as slim. I'm too much of a piggy.

Tracey - oh to have the legs for that. I don't think I could have got away with it...even 20 years ago.

Off to read the latest Grazia. Night all

Fleecy · 24/08/2010 22:23

Impressive packing there! I am intensively studying holiday capsule wardrobes as the less stuff I take, the more things we can take to keep the children entertained. Having not been away with them before I think this will give me valuable peace of mind if nothing else Grin

tracey I tried that dress on. Thought it would be quite versatile as I could get away with it for work with black tights and would wear it for nights out with bare legs. But then I won this so I didn't buy the Warehouse one. I'm wearing the dress today, bare legs, tan skinny belt and tan sandals this morning, black tights, black courts and black skinny belt this evening because it's turned cold!

hells Paris looks amazing. You look so glam and you obviously had a lot of fun. Can i come and work for you? Grin

cake have a fab time on holiday - hope it's truly wonderful

LetThemEatCake · 24/08/2010 22:23

in case I meet George Clooney!!! Grin

forgot to mention cashmere travelwrap, it's in the bag too = drapey scarf sorted.

shorts and See gone, denim in. Channelling my indoor Bondi girl.

thanks for the mozzie tip mm I get attacked horribly, huge welts. Will be covered in repellent, for sure.

hf this weather is just dire isn't it? On and off more than Dolce's Barbour Wink

LetThemEatCake · 24/08/2010 22:28

thank you fleecy Smile

AllBuggiedOut · 25/08/2010 10:06

Thanks re the books - I like making stuff!

That looks like brilliant packing cake - Although I took far too much with me this time, I did at least really enjoy wearing the things I did wear. What was missing from my wardrobe was footwear that was good in the rain. I ended up in flip-flops almost all the time which wasn't particularly comfortable because I didn't want to get my leather sandals wet. And travelling in maxi skirt was perfect - really comfortable and reasonably (I hope!) stylish.

Love your outnet buys tracey. I did a quick skim through the site Monday morning but didn't spot anything I wanted to buy.

I've decided that a cape would make me look enormous, so am now going to begin the hunt for a winter coat - am thinking warm and wooly. If anybody spots something in autumn colours (browns, rusts, navy...), please let me know! I suit a pretty classic style, just above knee, fitted into waist.

FritziGreenEyes · 25/08/2010 11:40

Hello lovelies! Missed so much of this thread but didn't want to bore you all with talk about my injured foot. X-rays showed there is also a bone fractured. One of the main things I'm worried is when I will ever be going to wear proper shoes, heels even and not ruin every outfit by wearing trainers or plimsolls. Enough said...

Sorry to hear about worries with DS apuski and with DD whelk.

Great you got your jacket dolcee and belated happy birthday!

I missed the outnet sale on Monday. Love the things you got tracey. Think I have lost my shopping mojo. Got delivery from H&M but send everything back except two cotton t-shirts from their organic collection (boring but useful). Had ordered blue-white stripey tunic and blue top but both were too baggy and made me feel huge and pregnant.

Your P's behaviour is unbelievable vino. How dare he even mention her in front of you? Must cost you lots of strength to remain calm. Love the VWA silk dress. Can you secure it with a brooch?

cakey - I spent many Sundays shopping at Bluewater when DH had to work . How nice of your DH to get you something. Another Mac-Household here! I'm impressed with your capsule wardrobe but would definitely pack a cardi. The thought of your green-faced DCs eating dinner has really made me smile.

Your Paris trip sounds wonderful hells!

monkeysmama - Sorry to hear about d&v. Hope everybody will be well soon. Nappy for DD sounds sensible.

abo - The book safes are genius. I also love making things and have bookmarked your link. Very inspiring, thanks!

Hope the hormonally challenged on this thread are feeling better. It was also full moon yesterday which is supposed to make some people extra-sensitive and emotional. OMG have outed my inner lentil-weaver and will be excluded from A/W thread.

FritziGreenEyes · 25/08/2010 11:41

or even A&W Smile
