Use this thread instead! I mucked up the title of the other one Blush

Whelk · 23/08/2010 20:05

Oh god what a vicious post of mine to be top of the page! The shame.

traceybath · 23/08/2010 20:09

EIE - I know what you mean about the one of each thing. When I had ds2 - there was lots of head tilted to one side comments - the fact we'd been trying for 2 years and I was just utterly delighted to be having a baby was irrelevant.

I have that scarf and its gorgeous but as I'm scared of ebay I did not such a bargain.

How was your capsule wardrobe and trains?

hellsbelles · 23/08/2010 20:10

That's a great idea Tracey - late lunch (if it suits all) so we can line our stomachs ready for the inevitable booze onslaught (or are you lot well behaved?). Actually I have a christening in the morning so can't go stinking of wine Wink

I have no idea what an earth to wear though. I'm having palpatations already.

Forgot to say - Paris is ridiculously expensive for clothes. I tried on lots including a 'wow' dress in Gucci. But oh la la the prices. I didn't get a thing for me (other than some metal jewellery). But did end up buying a beautiful gillet for DD. It's possibly a little chavtastic (are we allowed to say that?) but I'm jealous of it. I'm rather frustrated though - she won't put it on at the moment - she just insists on resting her head on the softness of it all.

traceybath · 23/08/2010 20:10

Whelk - hey - our cycles are in tune Wink

Am loving your vanity thread.

hellsbelles · 23/08/2010 20:11

Rufus - I can't get your link to work!

LetThemEatCake · 23/08/2010 20:28

UGH!!

when I was pg with dc3, it was the first time I'd not found out the sex.

Everyone said "oh well, i spose it doesn't matter does it - you;ve already got one of each"

As if it would have mattered ANYWAY!!!!!

am totally with you EIE.

welcome back btw - was thinking of you!

hells glad you had a good time in Paris, home of the Dukan!! how did you fare in the face of the, well, fare?? Grin

I went to Paris for a long weekend in 2008, about 2 months after giving up wheat (thanks to my best mate Cazza V). Oh the smells!! the tingling tastebuds longing to wolfishly devour a hunk of baguette of buttery morsel of croissant!!

2 and half years in, I am so over it. Never crave bready things anymore.

Crave raspberries. Constantly and voraciously.

Pre-Italy no fruit ban has not gone so well but am hovering around 9st7 so not too bad .. but would be nice to nudge down a bit before weekend to give me margin for gain, iyswim.

when is your birthday rufus?

any December birthdays here? anyone fancy an Xmas and 'LTEC is 38' drink later in the year?

Right, supposed to be a work night .. don't let me witter on too much.

rufus101 · 23/08/2010 20:28

It's this one from LilyandLionel Helles.
Everything I am now going to take a leaf from your book and have a trawl of ebay!
Also am frequently bemused with the "one of each" hysteria. I had DD, then DS, and the amount of approving "I see you got it right then" (!)
Have also PMT and my birthday is on Thursday. Weird or what?!

traceybath · 23/08/2010 20:55

Love the scarf Rufus!

LTEC - definitely up for xmas/birthday drinks Grin

Am back on being super good foodwise as have slipped a bit with 3 birthdays etc.

Fleecy · 23/08/2010 21:26

Lovely scarves all round!

I can be quite flexible for train times. Late lunch suits as I won't have to leave quite so early in the morning Smile but no rush to get home either. Although the later I come home, the more drunk everyone on the train will be. Delightful!

Also up for December drinks, dates permitting. Any excuse for a trip out and a bit of me time!

I also hate the 'one of each' thing. I actually do have one of each so people tend to assume I don't want more because I'm quite clearly sorted. Well no, actually. I would like another child, regardless of sex. Just because I'd like another child.

Am feeling rather left out now. No PMT, no birthday

But holiday TWO WEEKS TOMORROW! Sorry to shout but I'm just a little bit excited. Work is crazy at the moment, I'm horribly overtired with a to do list I can't possibly manage. So it can't come quickly enough.

OllieWollieWoo · 23/08/2010 21:56

My b-day is December 13th LTEC - will be 39 this year (but feel and look older!) Have booked a 2 hour facial for next week and today brought some eye contour cream to try and help sort myself out a bit more! The image consultant who did my colours suggested I try grey mascara - so brought some today and its amazing - really brings out the blue of my eyes way more than brown/black did. V impressed. Am taking friend who is getting married to the Mac counter next week for wedding make up and will get new eye shadow too.

Broke my no spend rule by buying make up etc as DH has let the kids library books get way overdue - he normally renews online and forgot - fine was 30 euros!!!!! Library lady was v sniffy. I was a bit Angry with DH as that money would have paid for Libras lovely grey boots I have been eyeing up and denying myself cos of DH's chat re how much we have spent this summer! Grrrr!

Off to bed now. Will really try to make the meet up - will look at flights/ferries etc. The Wolsley is nice for afternoon tea, not too loud/noisy and in a fairly central location????? Just a thought?

AllBuggiedOut · 23/08/2010 22:57

Evening - sorry to be so absent and crap, but am running round like headless chicken getting birthday parties ready. Currently stanley-knifing the centres out of hard back books to make secret safes for the spys at the party on Saturday to take their goodies home in. Bloody hard work!

Anyway, Oct 16th might work for me too - DH & I out in London that evening, so I will see if we can get away a bit earlier. Late lunch sounds great.

OllieWollieWoo · 24/08/2010 08:52

Sorry - wrong spelling - its The Wolseley and here is the cafe/afternoon tea menuhere

DolceeBanana · 24/08/2010 14:32

Gosh - where is everyone. Well, black kate barbour arrived, but I had made my mind up about the olive, so the olive is staying...delivery man waited whilst I ripped open bag and looked/compared, bless him!

Manic morning - gosh it's very windy and chilly here so quite wrapped up...wearing new silvery grey long cardi and square necked top - which my Mother bought me with chocolate biker skinnies....oh, and lovely silver cuff.

Not sure I'm going to be able to make 16th. We have in-laws arriving from France some time that week...they get here mid week and are probably due at ours on the Sat...

ABO - What are you doing to the books? Explain please....

monkeysmama · 24/08/2010 14:43

Hello

Very quiet isn't it.

I am busy dealing with vomit and other lovely things. I picked a wonderful time to start potty training dd. I am supposed to be going up north to meet my mum tomorrow. I think we will have to postpone though as taking a nappy free dd with d&v on a tube then train for a few hours isn't my idea of fun.

Dolcee I am very pleased I make you smile. My random daily incidents often make me laugh too.

Do any of you have the Isabella Oliver Rebecca maxi? I think I need a nice maxi for my holiday and quite like the look of the navy one. Hells I seem to recall you getting a dress from there though may be going mad.

OllieWollieWoo · 24/08/2010 15:03

Alll - Samatha Cameron has had a baby girl - whilst on holiday in Cornwall!

Poor you MM re DD being ill. Never nice at the best of times but when potty training.... Shock

DB - pleased you got to keep one coat! Don't you love understanding delivery men!

OllieWollieWoo · 24/08/2010 15:11

Gah- I should really learn to spellcheck my posts - meanto to type Ahhhhh and Alll! Where is everyone????

AllBuggiedOut · 24/08/2010 15:49

Thanks OWW - I wonder if that's why David wasn't meeting FIFA yesterday?

I'm making book safes Dolce. DS1 is having a spy party on Saturday, and they're going to start by decorating the covers of these books, which they'll then take home with them at the end of the party with a couple of spy-goodies in. These are in lieu of party bags Grin

LetThemEatCake · 24/08/2010 17:29

ABO that sounds amazing! clever you

dolce glad you got the jacket sorted

MM poor dd, how is she and how are you? Hope on teh mend soon

OWW that's lovely news.

met with friends n the park this morning and headed to cafe for lunch just as heavens opened - so was manic inside, too many mums, too many kids - I loaded mine up and went home for lunch instead. Then my Inner Manic Cake emerged and I had a massive cull of books, toys etc and moved all the furniture around. Kids loved it. They are all now sporting green faces after a quick pre-dinner face-painting sesh - (Shrek, Fiona and Ogre Baby - trip with dh to cinema seems to have made much bigger impact than a dvd ever has)

Packing the holiday capsule wardrobe tonight!! Am refusing to overthink it. Have done dd's and ds1's already.

traceybath · 24/08/2010 17:46

Back from meeting sister at lovly pub in oxfordshire.

We were outside most of the time and it was in turns lovely and sunny and freezing with gale-force winds - my jacket was on and off about 50 times.

We ate inside and was quite hilarious as pub was very quiet and a group of people in their 20's came and sat near us then took one look at my sister and I with 5 small dc's between us and rapidly moved to another table Grin

Came home to a delivery of this and these both really nice and keepers.

Spent whole drive home half-listening to bizarre play on r4 and debating whether to get olive or black barbour/AH coat - like you Dolcee have come down in favour of olive Grin All children slept which was amazing!

ABO - thats seriously impressive.

MM - am starting potty training ds2 tomorrow - dreading it and will probably give up after an hour. Hope she feels better soon.

OWW - The Wolsley sounds fab to me - have always fancied going there.

LTEC - I love packing for holidays Smile.

MM and Esher - sounds like Hells had the perfect holiday night attire wardrobe which I seem to recall consisted of a few jersey dresses and some good accesories - she certainly looked amazing!

hellsbelles · 24/08/2010 19:10

cake - sounds like a really perfect afternoon...I love those bursts of energy that result in a good sort out (they are few and far between with me though).

Yes yes yes to xmas drinks/birthday celebrations. And no I didn't succeed with Dukan while in Paris. And didn't I suffer for it. I had a lovely pot belly for most of the time due to overload of carbs. It's gone now though!

Meet up -I've just realised that I have a huge night out on the 15th...lunch with you all on the 16th and then a full on family event on the 17th. What on earth? The rest of the next 6 weeks looks empty...totally barren - why does it all happen at once!

Rufus - the scarf is gorgeous.

MM - you are right (what a wonderful memory). I have a fitted stripey maxi from Isabella Oliver. It is beautifully made but dangerously long (I was scared by Rufus's maxi injury) and I lazily haven't had it altered so it's hanging, unworn, in my wardrobe. The shame.

Tracey - how wonderful to have my holiday wardrobe described as such! I think it felt a success to me as previous attempts had been so dire. But you are right...my holiday staples were a selection of jersey dresses...they pack so very small and they all just seemed 'right'. I also found that heels felt wrong on that type of holiday so relied on just three pairs of shoes (brown glads, black strappy flats and some flip flops!)

Well done on your outnet successes. Wonderful buys.

Zembo · 24/08/2010 19:25

Fab outnet buys Tracey you seem to do really well on there Smile

Hells just had a nosey at your Paris FB photos; did you have a photographer with you? they're great and you look radiant. A bit scared to meet you lot, you're all so gorgeous.

Love the sound on manic Cake I do love a good cull Grin

Nothing much to report here as been at work all day. Almost finished day 13 of fasting and going well. Looking forward to having a bit of a break when I get my period (yes tmi)soon though! luckily no PMT here, seem to have been spared that. DD's wheelybug arrived, love it Grin.

hellsbelles · 24/08/2010 19:29

I think we all look a bit bonkers Wink. Star photographer was my little brother...I shall tell him what you said - he'll be thrilled!

rufus101 · 24/08/2010 19:37

Great Outnet buys TB.
Gosh Zembo, couldnt handle a fast like that. Busily munching crackers and cheese all evening. Even put some yummy raspberry jam on the last lot!
Was in TKMaxx today and got a lovely CK grey dress. Will be lovely with boots later on. Wore tights today, so that's it for me. Once they go on, they don't come off again!Summer is officially over. It's so cold here.
Just started a thread about this
As I'm 41 on Thursday, I really am clutching at straws I know!
I think the olive was a good choice Dolcee. Nice delivery man to wait for you!

traceybath · 24/08/2010 19:49

Hells - your Paris photos are fabulous Grin - was it a works trip?

Zembo - day 13 - wow! I guess you get into the swing of it but yes - not surprised you're looking forward to a little reprieve.

Rufus - I've decided to just buy olay type face creams and save the money for botox Wink

hellsbelles · 24/08/2010 19:56

yes - it was a bonus trip for hitting targets! We had really tried to avoid Paris as DH & I are cursed when we go though...always have a terrible fight. But it was the only place that fitted in with the time we had (most of us have DC's to get home to so one night away max!).

It turned out to be fine....a bit mad but good mad.
