Use this thread instead! I mucked up the title of the other one Blush

Oh and Apuski - more importantly! Do not fret...DS dropped 3 centiles after he'd had bronchiolitis and then a (bloody!!!) virus aged about 8 months...and then crept (slowly) back up once he'd recovered...I wasn't breast feeding any more at this stage because I was 5 months pregnant already with no 2!!!

It seemed to take ages to get his weight stable, and is a real worry at the time, so I can see why you would be concerned but take heart....you are doing everything you can. Hey, if it means he has to have some formula it isn't the end of the world...Just make sure you are also looking after you to ensure you don't get run down Wink

DolceeBanana · 23/08/2010 10:47

Thanks vino ! May make the del driver wait whilst I check...then saves even more faffing...

Yes, was terribly sniffy yesterday - couldn't help it! Was funny because I love a wedding and listened to the vows intently on Saturday...'Love is not selfish, or unkind...Love is not jeaulous', blah, blah blah....feeling v virtuous until I didn't get a pressie, then it all went out the window...Bless DH - he did try...but he needs to be a tad more organised...He is Virgo after all...and it's not like he organised anything for our DCs birthdays a few days earlier, or our wedding anniversary...boo, hoooooooooo....

I'm happy to do these things, but he needs to wake up...I am more extravagant by nature and it would so save him his pennies if he just went out and bought me a gift! Grin It's a logic that a man should understand!

ApuskiDusky · 23/08/2010 10:51

Thanks all for the positive comments, I know you're right (and my mum says the same - thank goodness MIL is on holiday, she would be laying on the pressure if she was around, she's not a bf fan). It's so much harder this feeding lark with a demanding toddler around!

Dolcee, I have to say I'm tempted by the Barbour Kate now the YMC coat has gone back, I suspect I'd go for black to up the biker vibe. I think you need to see both to make up your mind though!

OllieWollieWoo · 23/08/2010 11:30

Dolcee - I would offer delivery guy a cuppa and then have a trying on session - as long as he didnt get the wrong idea iykwim Wink

vinovino · 23/08/2010 12:14

whelk so sorry about DD2. Good you have the epi pen now but very scary to think you might need it. I don't have any personal experience of allergies so I wan't waffle on (well, I am allergic to walnuts and dried apricots, I swell up and can't breathe- think it's the sulphites, but nothing else. WEIRD) Hope you have continued support with that, can they do lots of tests and things to find out what she may be allergic to? I know lots of children can outgrow allergies eventually so it may not be forever. Tin of salmon to you.

OWW you made me laugh about Dolcee and her delivery man, I had this delivery man once who randomly came into my front door for no reason which made me quite uncomfortable and then was asking if I was single so I was like err..no, I have a baby upstairs you know.. he still didn't go for ages.. I considered telling his company what he did because it was really in your face but in the end decided that it might be mean to so I didn't. Crazy. who needs match.com when you can have interlink express?! [disclaimer, may not have been interlink express]

monkeysmama · 23/08/2010 12:30

Hey ladies

I am not a fan of group shopping (even with such A&W ladies) but as Cakey said, I'll meet you for the wine bit Grin.

traceybath · 23/08/2010 12:35

Lol at Dolcee doing a show for the delivery driver Grin

Whelk - poor little dd2.

Right am confused now as to meet-up are we doing lunch (with wine) or drinks in the evening?

I think lunch is better for Bloss because she can't get late trains back to Chester.

hellsbelles · 23/08/2010 12:41

dolcee - had a peak at the jacket in both colours (JL site) and the olive does look great. I have to admit to being a bit unsure about Barbour generally but it looks like you've found a fab one there. Certainly does look more biker than pony club.

What was your wedding outfit? Sounds like a complete success.

Vino - that dress is fantastic...couldn't you put a surreptitious safety pin or brooch in it to let you were it in confidence?

Tracey - bless DD2 - he does sound gorgeous.

Whelk - that sounds hard. I hope you manage to pinpoint that trigger very soon.

Cake - three cheers for DH...how perfect! I'm a complete Mac convert now. I'm sure we can ensure there are some around for drinks pm on the 16th...is there any reason we can't shift to evening for the whole thing or is it a nightmare travel wise for our non London A&Wsers?

Apuski - BF is so hard with the constant panic on weighing. I remember reading somewhere that they have the same charts for bottle and breastfeed babies which is utterly stupid as babies that are breast fed do gain weight differently.

traceybath · 23/08/2010 12:43

Yeap Hells - I think the evening means Bloss can't do it at all.

I'd prefer to do slightly earlier as didn't get back till 2am last time due to rubbishy trains. But will go along with the consensus Smile

Whelk · 23/08/2010 12:59

Vinovino- that sounds like pretty direct (and hideous) experience to me!!! Thanks for your support.
How are you doing re ex dp?

hellsbelles · 23/08/2010 13:09

I'll go with the consensus too! It's fine for me whatever the vote is (obviously - as I'm in London!)

rufus101 · 23/08/2010 14:15

Am with you on the birthday thing Apudki. and Vino.! I have had so many "strops" on my birthday, which DH has completely forgotten twice! He presumably was on his way to doing this again this year as got an email saying "We're meeting X on the 28th with his wife for dinner (business thing as they have moved into the area recently)", I replied "how lovely to have their company for my birthday"!! Needless to say it was quickly rearranged! I can't understand how when DH knows it's a big deal, that he doesn't make more of an effort to do it properly, instead of running into nearest shop and panic buying something that I don't 100% like, but can't exchange or return for something I would like! Will he never learn? I on the other hand put loads of thought and effort into getting him something I know he'd really love rather than throwing a of money at it.
Just back from a week in Kerry. It was heaven. Buggy boarding with the kids, walks. We were all very despondent coming home.
I love the jacket Dolcee, I too would be torn between the olive and black. Which ever colour suits you best. I love both colours on myself and am always torn between the two.

DolceeBanana · 23/08/2010 14:17

Yes...thinking the Olive is better actually. Probably able to wear with more things......Sorry, all a bit dull ! Reading back though posts I think my rant sounds utterly spoilt and selfish anyway...so please forgive me.... Blush Slightly hormonal methinks!

Anyway, wore the LKBennett 'tina' dress to the wedding, in damson with the LK shoes (Idina) in nude...and snake clutch...Worked well, dress very tailored and flattering and just felt good! DH loved it and got loads of flattering comments...

My DH was very matched to moi in his taupey suit and Ted Baker damson/cream striped shirt....bless....

traceybath · 23/08/2010 15:20

Vino - your OH is just being unbelievable - have you got an exit strategy planned yet?

Dolcee - your rant didn't sound spoilt to me at all - perfectly fair Grin. Its like christmas and my birthday just come along to catch DH out Hmm. Anyway christmas is sorted - it will be a trip to the jewellers Grin

Apuski - hope feeding going well Smile DD is still tiny - she's nearly 13 months and just 18.5lbs so still in baby carseat as can't move up yet - she's like a little doll really. I was lucky with my HV who was very keen on 'light' babies.

Dolcee - think I'd go for olive too although I find the barbour black is quite a soft/charcoal colour.

OllieWollieWoo · 23/08/2010 15:28

Did anyone get anything in the outnest sale?????

OllieWollieWoo · 23/08/2010 15:28

Gah - that should be outnet!!!!

monkeysmama · 23/08/2010 15:34

Cakey I didn't see the shopping bit of your post til now. How nice of your dh. I think that dress looks nice. I too am a Mac convert. Dp came home with a MacBook Air a few months ago & I was a bit Hmm as we already have 2 laptops and a desktop. But it has fast become my computer and I love it. They do a free course at the Apple store in Bw to teach you how to use it all (or they used to anyway). The online tutorials are worth it too imo.

Had an awful meal out last night and all 3 of us spent the night with d&v even though we ate different things. Woke up this morning to cleaner at 7:30, then gardener come to do some extra bits which involved a pneumatic drill and three men traipsing through the house and back. Also week 2 of potty training so frequent races up to the loo hindered by men in workboots on my new flooring carrying soil. Then pil arrived.

I am feeling similar to Esher about my holiday wardrobe. I feel like I don't have anything nice to wear. I am also feeling really muttony at the moment. It's odd as I don't care about age at all really but I was looking at some of my beachwear and started to wonder if I am too old for hotpants.

I've decided I need a new pair of sandals to replace the Antik Batik disappointments. I want a gold/metallic flat pair that I can wear in the evening with dresses instead of heels. I don't want to spend that much as they'll only get two weeks wear it seems and I will surely want a new pair or ten next summer.

Re the meet up I am happy to fit into whatever is easiest for everyone else and if some people fancy a shop first I'll just join you later.

Vino I went to the brewery place on Saturday and thought of you.

Dolcee I missed your birthday, sorry. Belated warm wishes for a lovely year.

Pil just taken dd to park so I am going to go upstairs and try on my leather jacket to make myself smile. And then shred.

DolceeBanana · 23/08/2010 15:47

You are kind Tracey Wink

I'm definitely hormonal and feeling a bit crappy...fluey and such and so a very relaxed day at home with the babes today...

Yes, think it will be the olive...

Think your idea for your christmas present is a fab one! Just pick it out and buy it yourself if necessary! I, like you, think nothing of trying on rings in jewellery shops!!!! I would really like a new ring (platinum, baguette diamond eternity, to be precise) Grin

Trouble is, I only ever wear 1 ring...cannot stand more than that...so all the rings he's bought me over the years he's like Hmm which is a fair point, as I suppose he knows they will be discarded for the new version!

It's his birthday next week and I am trying to sort out a mountain biking weekend (what a bloody lovely wife I am!!!), not to mention stoical and self sacrificing! Well, it will earn me extra brownie points (he really needs to think like this!!!!!!!) Oh, and have finished a painting (a seascape), large canvas, which he knows nothing about...I like it - think he will too...more than that he is sensitive enough (just about) to appreciate the time and effort that's gone into it (well, er, not an awful lot actually, but it looks like it has!!!!). We do laugh. I have a very good (and successful) artist friend who knocks out landscapes /seascapes in about an hour per picture sometimes and my DH thinks it must take her weeks to finish a piece....awwwwwww....

DolceeBanana · 23/08/2010 15:52

MM thanks...must say you do make me laugh with your posts! So sorry though about the d and v...poor you!

OllieWollieWoo · 23/08/2010 16:43

Did you see the banner ad at the top of MN saying H&M goes online in UK on 9th Sept?

LetThemEatCake · 23/08/2010 18:32

apuski sorry to hear your news but very glad for your sake that MiL is not around, you need support, not disapproval! Hope all well, hang in there.

sorry to cause any confusion tracey, was just saying that if anyone was going to hang about beyond 6pm I'd be happy to join, but will prob give the daytime frolics a miss. WoUld of course love to see you again but totally understand not after long journey home last time.

yes, very chuffed with the iMac. We are a total shrine to Apple in this house Blush - four iBooks and now the iMac plus various other bits that dh deems 'necessary' for work. To be fair, I've had my Mac for 4 years and it is just running very slow, which isn't feasible when I am trying to work and be full time mum - need to be efficient!! Took me over an hour to make 2 changes to an article on this old one this morning, nightmare - so will be very glad when the new one is set up.

dolce I didn't think you sounded selfish or petulant at all, your love for dh is always very apparent and it's not like they don't get a whole year's notice before birthdays. My dh has in the past used the excuse that it's all 'too much for him to think about' as my b'day falls close to Xmas; my argument is that he's got his present-buying head on along with the rest of the world (or much of the rest of the world - no offence to non-Xmas'ers) so how much easier can it be??

MM sorry about your D& V.

OWW very excited about H&M online, esp as dh and I worked out that yesterday, aside from the Mac, we spent more on family 'entertainment' (cinema, food, helium balloons, rides, bungee jumping thing, photo booth) than we did on clothes (gilet for me, jeans and tee for him) Not counting Mango dress as it's going back.

Online shopping def more economical if you look at it like that!!!

rufus101 · 23/08/2010 19:25

Would anyone have a discount code for LilyandLionel?
Am thinking of getting this scarf for my birthday present to self! Think Carciofi linked to it before. Just thought I'd ask just in case one was floating around.
Didn't get anything in Outnet sale OWW but there looked to be some great bargains, as well as a load of stuff that has been there since it was on sale in the sale section of NAP. Sometimes I feel like saying "Oh come one, don't insult me, even for a fiver I don't want it".

Evening - LTEC - well I'm definitely up for hanging around a bit on the 16th Smile

Perhaps we could do a late lunch at 2'ish depending on Bloss, Notyummy and Fleecy's train times . . .

Strange day of weather here - sunshine, rain, torrential rain and then sunshine.

Ventured to mothercare today to buy socks for Bea as gap only seem to do ones with 'gap' emblazoned on them Hmm. Lordy thats a grim shop that is surprisingly expensive too.

Whelk · 23/08/2010 20:04

lol everything the 'one of each' comments also fill me with inexplicable rage!! Why so great to have one of each? Each box ticked?
I'm full of PMT venom!
