Use this thread instead! I mucked up the title of the other one Blush

I'd say I am more interested in why the world's how it is and how it could be better than in politics per se. The running of parliament bores me to tears for example. But yes, I am a news junkie.

I like the cardi but saw it earlier while choosing gift for
mil and think it looked a bit bobbly (I could be confused which one it was though)

monkeysmama · 21/08/2010 23:09

Before I really do go to bed.... Started shredding yesterday and though I didn't find it that hard I ache really badly today. Haven't done it today as feeling unwell. I know it needs to hurt but my back/shoulders made me wince when I lifted dd. Got to do something though. Had massive bowl of popcorn all to me tonight. I'll be like a lump of melting lard in the sun in 3 weeks Hmm.

Night all.

Zembo · 22/08/2010 06:30

Morning ladies.

MM hope you're feeling better this morning.

Dolce how was the wedding? Hope it wasn't chucking it down all day like it was here.

Tracey I like everything about the Mulberry bag except the logo, which is a bit too in-yer-face for me. I thought Mulberry logos were usually a bit more subtle, but have noticed they've been getting bigger recently.

Off into town to buy school shoes for DD today. Will prob go for some classic mary jane type startrite ones. DH likes the Lelli Kelly shoes, I really dislike them.

I've ordered two packs of the squashblox for my DC Grin so that's my two sorted. Now just need to get presents for the rest of my huge family - it's very 'pre-xmas' in our household at the mo.

LTEC what a relief re: passport. Have you planned your mega capsule wardrobe yet? So impressed you're taking just had luggage (or did you forget to mention that DH is driving your wardrobe there? Grin)

Zembo · 22/08/2010 06:52

Also, whilst in pressie mode, thinking of what to get DDs nursery to say thank you when she leaves (after being there for 3.4yrs). Considering getting a bear for the children to take on adventures. Might be a diff bear. DH thinks was very discouraging last night and suggested I stick to the box of (boring) chocolates. DD and I will make some rocky road, chocs or biscuits for the staff anyway. Well I think the children would love it. I know mine would totally adore having a bear over to stay Grin

Librashavinganotherbiscuit · 22/08/2010 07:48

Tracey Happy Belated birthday!

MM Hope you are feeling better soon

LTEC glad the passport came in time

Fritzi How was the do with the aircast on?

I'm with Zembo with the mulberry bag, I love the bag (colour fantastic) but not so keen on the in your face logo I also got one v v similar from Oushka last year. I think I preferred the brown and black mulberry someone posted ages ago.

The GAP suede boots are lovely, I am keeping but doubt I will wear very often due to heel! When I eventually get back to pre-pregnancy weight (sometime in 2012 then) I will need a very well cut LONG pair of dark denim jeans. These in grey came and are also keepers.
Got these in both colours, not very interesting but think the ruching over the tummy will be very flattering post pregnancy, well that's the theory

Weather is shit here, suppose to be meeting (child-less friends) in pub with large garden for DS to run about in for lunch, usually I would suggest they came here just can't be bothered to cook and clean.

OllieWollieWoo · 22/08/2010 08:20

Morning. Glad the boots were good Libra - am still v tempted but am determined to see out the rest of the month by not spending - so roll on Sept 1st!

Zembo - think the bear is a lovely idea. My sister's DS had one home from his nursery a few times and loved taking photos of it to put in the Bear Book!

In laws are popping in later for a coffee. FIL has just been diagnoised with a form of skin cancer (legions appeared on his forehead) and not coping very well - he has various mental health issues and just can't cope with any type of stress. DH is more concerned on the impact on his Mum who ties herself up in knots trying to making everything ok for him.

On another note - have received the silk tunic dress from ebay and there are 3 tiny marks on the front - near the neckline. Look like greasepots. Not sure what to do re complaining - dress is lovely and fits v well and DH reckons spots are not that noticeable. Should I say something and ask for partial refund or send dress back - not sure how the whole ebay complaints things works and never v good at complaining!!????

Enjoy your trip to Bluewater LTEC

I may be able to make the 16th Oct - its our half term here but will talk to DH re coming over for a weekend - should be ok.

Librashavinganotherbiscuit · 22/08/2010 08:23

OWW if the spots weren't mentioned on the description and you would feel uncomfortable wearing the dress because of them they you can ask for refund but you would have to send dress back at your own expense I think (the ebay topic on here is quite good for asking questions)

traceybath · 22/08/2010 08:33

Morning all - sun shining for a change.

Mulberry is definitely getting more bling but it was such a lovely size and colour. But I have ummm 2 mulberry bags already so will not be purchasing [virtuous emoticon].

Interestingly the owner of the shop was telling me that the pricepoint for mulberry spring/summer 11 is going up a lot!

LTEC - have fun at bluewater - what looks is your DH after?

monkeysmama · 22/08/2010 09:50

We were due a family outing to Bluewater today but have postponed to next week. Our cc has been cloaned and need to wait until Monday to be able to use it again. We need summer things still for holiday on 13th and some a/w gear too. May've I'd be best ordering summer stuff on line and not having to dig through sale rails. Have fun anyway and let us know what you get!

Fleecy · 22/08/2010 12:50

Afternoon everyone,

Happy birthday dolce! How did it go yesterday?

tracey I also feel I have enough Mulberry to keep me going for the time being and agree the colour is lovely but the logo not so much. Mine are much more discrete so you wouldn't know unless you already knew iyswim

We had a BBQ here yesterday and the rain held off so that was fortunate. Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves but we rather over-estimated the food and drink, just to be safe, and are now munching our way through left-over cheesecake, crisps and dips, various potato salads and things washed down with wine, coke and lots of fruit juice. All very tasty but I lost a pound this week and have surely now reversed that!

bummer about the cards mm but I can't stand sale shopping in store - it always feels so jumble sale-ish!

hells I see on FB that you've been away. Did you have a lovely time? I hope so! Would you be able to make a meet-up on 16 Oct?

hellsbelles · 22/08/2010 13:09

I think August must be the birthday month for fashionistas! I can't believe how many A&W ladies are celebrating at the moment. Happy birthday to you all.

Sorry I'm so absent at the moment. School holidays and endless work are leaving me shattered and not able to catch up. I thought I was going to have to miss Paris (this friday) as DD was very poorly on Thursday but my little trooper woke up on Friday morning temperature free. What a little star.

Paris was hot, so hot. My packing was a disaster as I had disregarded the weather forecast and packed as if for London...so I ended up wearing a denim mini and gap vest top most of the time which was the only thing bearable (though my purple YSL jersey dress got an airing at the moulin rouge!).

Moulin Rouge was hilarious (for the first 10 mins...after that I was quite over it and ready to go and sit in a bar)....it is the campest thing I have ever seen in my life and we all spent the whole time in fits of giggles.

I'm exhausted today. DH has caught DD's bug and snored so horrendously last night I got about 1 hour sleep.

Fleecy...16th is in the diary. I have a family christening the next day so I shall have to behave and avoid too much wine (or is it a lunch?).

sorry for boring me me me post. I will catch up soon I promise.

traceybath · 22/08/2010 20:31

Hells - Paris sounded fun Grin - hope you're feeling better now though. And poor DD.

Dolcee - hope wedding and birthday have been fine and that your mother behaved herself Smile

Have raging pmt - raging I tell you.

Come on ltec - how was bluewater?

traceybath · 22/08/2010 20:34

Oh meant to say ds2 is very good at getting himself dressed and put on his pj bottoms last night whilst I was sorting out DD.

Anyway he then decided he was sooo tired he put himself to bed Shock - he does that sometimes. So anyway thought nothing of it until he woke at 2am in a puddle of wee - I hadn't put a nappy on him!!!!!

Hope you're all ready for the storms tonight.

Oh and Romana - I hope you're having or about to have a lovely holiday and that work has eased up a bit.

Esher - have you gone to Greece?

Fleecy - when are you off?

Hells - I think we're going to meet for lunch on the 16th so need some ideas as to where?

LetThemEatCake · 22/08/2010 21:53

evening

mm what a drag about your cards. Dh had that years ago when we were travelling - somehow he was managing to buy gold jewellery in Thailand and rack up a fortune at H&M in Copenhagen ... all the while we were in Bolivia.

tracey ugh, have not had a period yet but am slightly scared that I will have 5 years worth of PMT when I do!!

Happy birthday dolce!!

re: 16th meet up - don't think I'll have my A&W head on in the day (in mummy mode) so will pass on that but if any of you crrrrraaaaazy ladies are going to hang about for evening drinks, I'd love to come meet you Smile

bluewater good - tag-teamed it, with dh taking dd and ds1 to see Shrek whilst I hooned around with the bub, Bought fur gilet in Zara, tried on (but did not buy) chunky camel cardi, cashmere camel cardi, white dress with sort of ornate lace yoke/ collar, cute blouse with dragonfly and butterfly print, navy coat.

Didn't notice much jumble sale action going on, most of the shops seem to be in full AW mode, with just the odd sale rail tucked away in a corner.

Some nice stuff in Mango - saw a leopard print dress here which looked good on the mannequin, although less so here. And when dh went on his shopping trip he bought me this which I had mentioned to him as I'd tried it on but which looks so hideous here I am almost embarrassed to link to it. It's sold with an embellished belt and is actually very nice but OMG, £90 for a poly dress, no no no. Not when I a) do not need another dress and b) just spent £90ish on a silk maxi and c) am now the proud of owner of a beautiful, beautiful iMac - another thing that dh bought for me during the time that he was supposed to be shopping for himself. Shock Grin

Vero Moda has also just opened in BW (hello fritzi) and I had a quick squizz in there ... they had a load of stuff in a Miu Miu rip-off bird print but also some cute tees in cat/ poodle/ bird prints for like, £12. Very tempted by the poodle print but should probably stop trying to dress like my 16 year old niece as am 38 in 4 months Grin

eshermummy · 22/08/2010 22:05

Hi TRACEY - is very quiet on here at the moment isn't it?
I am still here, leaving for Greece Tuesday night/Wed morning.

Been feeling a bit grumpy last few days, despite hols to look forward too - think is combo of touch of PMT also and thought of packing and now thinking that I don't have anything to wear on hols Sad which simply cannot be true given the amount of stuff I have. Gosh, I really struggle with going out stuff/eveningwear for hols, esp shoes.

Sent back ASOS parcel with the current/elliott paint spattered Dexy's yesterday and also these which I was very cross about, as had such high hopes for them. Website said heel height was 9cm but when they arrived they were more like 12cm which is just way too high for me. Felt quite wise at sending them back though as did like them otherwise from height.

Are there storms forecast for tonight then? We could really do with some rain here to clear the air - has been so humid the last few days and I don't think I have seen the sun since we came back - it's always so dark and overcast.

Hells - Paris sounds like it was good fun. Is Moulin Rouge all nipple tassels and fans like burlesque?

Count me in for meet-up on 16th too please btw.

ApuskiDusky · 22/08/2010 22:06

Hi all!

Happy belated birthday Tracey! And glad you had a good break in Paris, hells, especially with being so busy.

My updates - clothes first - the YMC coat has gone back sadly, as the shape wasn't right, the picture on my-wardrobe was deceptive as there isn't much of a waist to it. But I'm keeping the Splendid cardigan; although I worry waterfall fronts risk being slightly granny-ish, it's too good for breastfeeding!

Speaking of which - baby A is falling through the centiles with his weight Sad; the HV I saw this week is not fretting yet, but she is assuming it's because he had jaundice, but I know his weight hasn't gone up much since he was clear, so I'm not so optimistic. So I have spent ALL weekend feeding, briefly saying hello to DH and DS1. I feel a bit rubbish, really, feeding is such an emotive thing.

ApuskiDusky · 22/08/2010 22:13

Oops, and happy birthday Dolcee, sorry I missed you!

Librashavinganotherbiscuit · 23/08/2010 07:25

hells glad you managed to get to Paris, sounds like you had a lovely time.

tracey *steps quietly away from the PMT woman.

dolcee Happy Belated Birthday!

LTEC Your DH obviously decided you needed spoiling (in a good way) sounds like it was a nice day out for all.

esher have a great holiday!

apuski you shouldn't feel rubbish, you spent all weekend feeding your baby that is a great thing to do! If you are really worried could you contact your local NCT breastfeeding counsellor or the La Leche league for advice?

Had ASOS email this morning and currently I want

this, even tho I had something very similar when I was 13 which I think my mum knitted me so not sure yay or nay

I wouldn't wear a fake fur gilet but this might get some use

Not actually buying anything more until I get confirmation that I am getting maternity allowance.

Happy Monday everyone (I am probably the only person who likes Monday as it's my official day off as DS goes to nursery and after my PT client at 9 have the rest of the day freeeeeeeee)

DolceeBanana · 23/08/2010 08:11

Morning everyone! Thanks for the birthday wishes...

Well....wedding was fab! So beautiful...bride was stunning in an off the shoulder 'eau de nil' duchesse silk gown (she's dark, and tanned and beautiful!). A quintessential english/scottish (bride's heritage) wedding...food was beautiful as venue was an italian restaurant principally...My dress did do me proud, felt a million dollars! Although scraped the heel on one of my shoes...any ideas if it can be repaired? Felt very slim, and wonderful...and Mother was thankfully great in the end!

Although, when we returned at 10.30 am the next morning on my birthday (!), she rushed to give me my present and then said they had to get off! Absolutely no sense of occasion!DH's present hadn't arrived....so I had 1 present to open (my Mother's), and, Tracey mate, have to admit to feeling a little sorry for myself! Turns out he'd ordered the Barbour for me, on Friday afternoon with guaranteed next day delivery, only it didn't arrive. Due today. Let's just hope it turns up and I like it!

Zembo - it did pour with rain all afternoon and we were in a marquee (I did have my wellies in the car just in case!). It was fine though, quite atmospheric with all the rain and thunder outside! Hmm .. Now have a fluey feeling though and feeling rather jaded....on a positive note my little baby is back to her old self, so that's wonderful!

OllieWollieWoo · 23/08/2010 09:26

OMG - I cannot belive how much it is raining here - bucket loads. The streets are just covered with big pools of water. Got soaked just getting the boys out of the car and into school. Ergh!

Dolcee - so pleased you enjoyed the wedding and that you felt so good in your outfit. I love weddings! Popped round to our neighbour freind who has the big wedding coming up in Oct and we spent ages looking at hairstyles on the net - she wants a 1920's style wave thingy to go with here pale silver dress. Hope your Barbour comes today - think you will be needing it with this weather!

Apuski - really feel for you re DSs feeding. I had to supplement DS2's bf with a formula for underweight babies (horrible thick gloopy stuff that barely came out of the teat) but listen to your HV re not fretting.

Off to do weekly supermarket run now. Have a good day all.

Fel1x · 23/08/2010 10:15

Morning.
It's very rainy here too oww. Am taking boys to indoor play place to burn off some energy in a bit!

Dolcee, happy birthday for yesterday! And so glad you enjoyed the wedding and felt fab in your dress.

Hells, glad you had a good hol. Paris sounds lovely.

I have decided that what I really need for aw is grey lace up ankle boots with a not too high chunkyish heel. Does such a thing exist? Saw some nice ones in m and s (they are linked to in the brogues thread, but can't do link again as on iPhone!) but those ones only in black or brown!
If anyone sees any in your travels please do let me know!

DolceeBanana · 23/08/2010 10:28

Right, Barbour (Kate) has arrived and they've mistakenly sent the Olive rather than Black....DH has fumed at them over the phone on account of this and delivery cock up, and they are sending black tomorrow and picking up Olive....however...not sure what to do....Olive size 10 fits like a glove and actually quite like the colour as its v dark and Liberty print lining (which is visible) is beautiful...now not sure if black will be too hard ...decisions, decisions....I'm not really pale so prob could get away with it - and jacket is much more biker stylee than pony club Esher!! Grin ! Whaddo I do?

vinovino · 23/08/2010 10:34

Happy MOnday all. P is being a real pest Hmm talking about OW's christian beliefs this morning. You'd think he'd have the sense not to mention her, right? let alone discuss her virtues while I am trying to give DS his porridge! gah
I cannot wait to get back to work (mid september post exams) how sad am I!? have been doing a bit from home though but not very effectively (online shopping distracts me!!)

Anyway- phew, vent over. apuski how old is your little one? sorry my head is all scrambled at themoment. Jaundice can cause lingering feeding/ absorption issues but they will clear up. It sounds like you are doing so well. BF babies often drop centiles anyway without having been ill, don't stress. DS recently dropped 25 centiles in 6 weeks. DD was always scraping along the 2nd-9th. But you know, babies can be any weight and be bright and healthy, these weight charts are ridiculous and not appropriate for BF babies imo.Just keep it up, keep offering feeds, supply will increase/stay goood and weight should stablise. Dropping centiles isn't really losing weight, and baby A will get there soon.

dolcee wedding sounds great. I like you and tracey get a bit sniffy when I have no presents on my birthday Grin it's like my inner 6 year old comes out every year. Glad it's not just me (happy unbirthday by the way)

Lunch sounds great idea, can I tag along?

Anglomania silk dress was great when I first put it on but after wearing it for a few hours it managed to untie itself Shock at lunch! in public!! agh the perils of silk self tie dresses, not recommended. Bit concerned I spent so much on it and am not that likely to wear it many times (unless I superglue it on)

And thank you for putting me off the mid heels, I can walk in high heels so had better stick with them or flats or the cankles will appear to have morphed into something larger

Well I'm rambling nonsensically avoiding today's work.. lalala

Tracey your DS sounds adorable!

LTEC a. you probably look younger than your niece you are gorgeous b. nobody is ever too old for poodle print. Not ever. Promise hehehe

Whelk · 23/08/2010 10:37

Morning all!
Sounds like a great shop LTEC and a very generous dh Grin

Happy belated birthday Tracey.

I'm sorry to hear about your ds2 Apuski. You are right, feeding is such an emotive thing but it sounds as though you have done so so much to make it work and you should be proud of yourself for that.

We haven't had a great few weeks with dd2. She has had repeated allergic reactions which I can't pin down the trigger for. We have also seen the specialist and have been prescribd an epi-pen (adrenaline that you inject in case of anaphylaxis i.e. your child not being able to breathe) which is good in some ways but I can't look at it yet because of all it represents

vinovino · 23/08/2010 10:38

dolcee your jacket sounds lovely.. how about, take delivery of black one tomorrow, return olive then if you like the olive one more order it again and return the black one? Is that too much faffing? probably Grin liberty print lining? sounds lovely- I saw someone on tv wearing the kate jacket and it looked really smart and cool actually not pony club at all. Good choice.
