The previous Carry On thread is full, so thought I'd start the new one.

General comments, thoughts, anything that we fancy but NO willy waving!

That's what I'm hoping - to become a non smoker, that's why I want a decent reliable kit, every time I have vaped and the thing has conked out I've gone back to the rollies. I will persevere this time and hopefully one day it won't be such a mystery to me. And WELL DONE Goose and all you other ex-smokers on this thread

Sorry if it's seen as willy waving! My adv is a kanger subox, this is a special treat!

clarazabel · 20/08/2016 22:01

Yes Goose, that is brilliant advice, I do probably need a cheap spare more than I need a fancy kit at the moment, and in the meanwhile I will carry on researching.

Clara I quite cigarettes on a cheap ego-t ce4. But vaping has somewhat turned into a hobby for me now!

clarazabel · 20/08/2016 22:45

Goose - this is what I don't really understand - the batteries and tanks and stuff. Fruit I will look at the ego-t, this is getting even more complicated than I thought when I first posted - HA!

FruitCider · 20/08/2016 23:27

Clara you are already using an ego-t looking at the posts!

Allergictoironing · 21/08/2016 08:11

Clara it can get as complicated as you want, but what you are already using has all the basics. You have the battery part, you have the tank (clearomiser), you charge the battery and you fill the tank with liquid.

After over 2 years of vaping and over 18 months completely cig free, I'm still using something pretty close to what you have. My battery is a bit bigger so lasts longer, and the tank has a replaceable coil (the bit that does the work) but that's the only difference. That, and the fact that I have loads of spares of everything! I do also have a couple of "posh" batteries & tanks but I have a dreadful habit of dropping stuff so I keep those for home use only.

As mentioned above, spare kit is the most important thing to have rather than expensive kit.

Quick question though - exactly how are you charging the batteries? I know an awful lot of people think USB charging is USB charging full stop, and plug their ecigs into their iPhone chargers - this is a BIT no-no and potentially dangerous, and can kill the battery life as well. Ecigs need to be charged at a slower rate that mobile phones, so should only be used with a plug provided specifically for that use or by plugging in to a laptop or PC.

Thanks for replying Allergic - I'm charging my battery through my lap top and it seems to need doing quite a lot. I did notice that they sell tanks to go with the ecig at Tesco but do other tanks fit? Would it be a start to buy another Cirro starter pack to keep them going for longer do you think? I don't want it to stop working and think "bugger it" again! Am I right in thinking that most of the "bits and bobs" fit most cigs? I had no idea there was such a range of stuff you could get.

PlentyOfPubeGardens · 21/08/2016 13:03

If you want to charge less frequently clara you need a bigger capacity battery. If this is the one you have, the battery is 650 mAh so look for a number that's higher than that. Also on that page it says it's compatiple with most clearos on the market, which means it will have an eGo (and probably also a 510) thread. So, you could get a new battery and use your clearo on both, and get new tank(s) and use them on your existing battery.

You could get something like a Kanger iPow which, at 1600 mAh will last loads longer and will also let you play with the power settings a bit, or you might want to jump straight to a box mod which will last you days before charging. Eleaf isticks were incredibly popular but are getting hard to find now. The Kbox seems to be very similar (4000 mAh).

For tanks, there is a bewildering variety to choose from! If you want something that works in a similar way to what you're using but is better, you could try an iclear 16.

clarazabel · 21/08/2016 15:52

I think I'm starting to get it now, and yep the choice is bewildering but then us nicotine addicts need to get it right to ditch the stinkies I guess. I think I'm armed with enough knowledge to go to the e-cig shop with the cool boys and not feel like such a ninny. Thank you all so much for your help x

PlentyOfPubeGardens · 21/08/2016 17:53

If you're going to a shop run by cool boys, beware of tanks with 'sub', 'sub ohm' or 'cloudchasing' in the name. Or tanks with big wide mouthpieces.

Sub-ohming is a very different style of vaping from what you're using at the moment. It involves vaping big quantities of low strength liquid at high power, to make big clouds of vapour. The vapour is inhaled diectly into the lungs, as opposed to being sucked into the mouth and then inhaled, as you'd do with a cigarette or your current vape setup.

Most of the stuff in shops these days is geared towards sub-ohming but if you ask for something you can vape at low power or 'mouth-to-lung' they should know what you mean. Give it a go while you're there though, it's quite good fun and it might be just your thing Grin

Good luck, and come back and show us what you get!

clarazabel · 21/08/2016 18:07

ohhhhhh, again thanks - I've seen the "huge amount of smoke" thing going on and had no idea what that was about, presumed I was doing something wrong with my cheapo e-fags - hahah. Not sure I should have a go at Sub-ohming though - I may indeed like it and I have enough bad habits already.

Itscliffmas · 22/08/2016 17:35

Hey, can anyone recommend a good place to get reasonable priced kit and liquids, I'm a new vaper, loving it as it's keeping me off the cigs but think I best get some back up stuff as I have a habit if dropping and breaking things.

I like MyEpack and UKEcigStore. Fasttech are really good if you don't mind waiting for stuff to arrive from China. Polter is it you who uses that other Chinese site that has warehouses in the EU?

Thank you, this is way more exciting than buying a box of lambert

FurryDogMother · 23/08/2016 10:13

I buy a lot of my kit from Amazon - they do the standard set-ups and are good if anything goes wrong with delivery. Also very competitively priced (and next day delivery on a lot of things if you have Prime). As for liquids, my current favourites are Triphammer and Sailor Sauce - also Campfire Custard from Dragons Rise

hollinhurst84 · 23/08/2016 11:08

Furry - are you me?! I love all those!
Triphammer cream tea 2 is a good one
Digbys do nice flavours. The King by them is amazingly rich (peanut butter, banana and cream)
