The previous Carry On thread is full, so thought I'd start the new one.

General comments, thoughts, anything that we fancy but NO willy waving!

I was standing outside with the smokers today at work and it was disgusting!!! I'm so glad I don't smell like that anymore. Long may it continue! Something had to give.

I have a couple of big nights coming up, I just hope I can resist "temptation".

PenguinsandPebbles · 24/11/2016 21:00

It's horrible isn't it, actually turns my stomach a bit

So I've had booze and been totally fine! Not even crossed my mind to have a cigarette, that was a big test for me it was only afterwards that I realised I hadn't wanted a cigarette. Helped being in a pub that doesn't mind people vapeing as long as it's not those massive smoke clouds and mine you can hardly notice so that did help a lot.

I have however invested in a strawberry champagne flavoured one as the mint vape and champagne did not taste that great but I never wanted a cigarette :) even when I could smell it and other methods would have left me offering money for one :)

Shiny eyes kicked in again Grin and I have a new rose gold mini triton which I really like

Hi there vaping vipers, I've not been on these threads in ages but am seeking a bit of advice. I really struggled to quit the fags. I have an anxiety disorder and, though I had one relapse last year and have sometimes found it hard but have always come through, I've now been vaping exclusively for nearly 2 years.

One thing has been making me feel quite worried recently: me and DH want to start TTC early next year. I had thought that I might be off the vape by this time but I'm not, mainly due to having a hard time with my mental health. I'm on 12mg nic. I'm thinking I should start lowering my nic, eventually aiming for zero and try then only to vape if I really feel it's necessary when I'm pregnant. But I'm scared - I worry that I would harm the baby by vaping. But then I'm also scared of not being able to cope with any severe anxious episodes without it. Any thoughts would be much appreciated. I know that stopping altogether when pregnant would be ideal and I may well manage that but what if I don't? I've been so anxious about this the past few days, not sleeping and feeling rotten Sad

...and sorry for not starting my own thread, this seemed a safer place to discuss.

Looking for a bit of advice... Just started vaping with an Innokin T18E and Flavour Vapour Blueberry E-Liquid (Strength: 12mg)

Is this a good way to start? Just confused by the huge range and variety of kits and e-liquids!

How often to change the coil? Can I choose any e-liquid of any make? Which flavours have you found to be the best? I know it's all personal choice but I chose the blueberry as someone online recommended it and the guy on the Flavour Vapour helpline said it was their bestseller. Fancy trying out some other flavours but so much choice!

Dontneedausername · 05/01/2017 12:33

Well that's a sub-ohm kit, people generally use these with lower resistance coils and do massive clouds with a lower strength liquid... are you doing direct lung inhales or mouth to lung which is more like smoking?

As for liquids, yes, you can buy any flavour from anywhere :)

I like the Alchemists cupboard and triphammer but one pound eliquid.com is a good place to get an idea of what sort of flavours you like.

Also, once you know what you like, I really recommend buying a diy mixing kit from the alchemists cupbord and making your own as you can save a fortune! It's super easy, you can choose the concentrates you need and just follow an online calculator.

Good luck!

Agent - Hope you're feeling a bit better now Flowers You might find this helpful - Use of electronic cigarettes in pregnancy - A guide for midwives and other healthcare professionals. Bottom line is:

While licensed NRT products are the recommended option, if a pregnant woman chooses to use an electronic cigarette and if that helps her to stay smokefree, she should not be discouraged from doing so.

Bagel - that looks like a good, simple starter kit. Change the coil when you start to get lots less vapour or when it starts tasting bad. You can use any eliquid in it. Lots of people find One Pound Eliquid good when they are just starting out - you can get a big pile of different flavours for not much money and see what you like.

(It's PlentyOfPubeGardens here BTW, I flounced quietly de-regged a couple of months back but can't keep away Grin Happy new year everyone!)

PencilsInSpace · 05/01/2017 12:39

It's not sub-ohm, it's a mouth-to-lung starter kit, fixed at 14W. It'll only take coils down to 1.2 ohms. There's a good review here (This is for the T18, the T18E is the same but a slightly smaller tank).

Dontneedausername · 05/01/2017 12:43

Pencils - I lifted this straight from the description.....

Dontneedausername · 05/01/2017 12:45

I didnt look for the resistance of the coils, obviously if it only goes to 1.2ohm then it isn't. Perhaps they need to update the description on the website!

PencilsInSpace · 05/01/2017 12:47

They may have said 'sub-ohm' in the description but clearly it isn't - it comes with 1.5 ohm coils Confused

PencilsInSpace · 05/01/2017 12:49

Perhaps they need to update the description on the website!

Yep!

Dontneedausername · 05/01/2017 12:52

New toy.....
£24.99 but you need a battery (helpfully flinched from hubbys old set-up!)
Definitely sub ohm, very airy. It doesn't have adjustable air flow, but you can adjust holes on the coils but that doesn't seem to make much of a difference!

Definitely a bargain for the price tho!

Mine is rose gold, but there is also black and silver.

iPhone for scale.

Very pretty! I got a Sigelei Mini Book in red for my Christmas new toy. Separate batteries are definitely the way to go. I get so sad when the battery dies in a much loved mod and I have to bin the whole thing.

Dontneedausername · 05/01/2017 13:13

I hate that! Dying mods - not your new one!

Although my big battery was from Fasttech and has lasted 1.5 years so it did well!

I did look on fast tech/gear best before ordering this one, but they didn't seem as cheap as they used to be! Definitely not worth the month long wait!

BagelGoesWalking · 05/01/2017 17:04

"Well that's a sub-ohm kit, people generally use these with lower resistance coils and do massive clouds with a lower strength liquid... are you doing direct lung inhales or mouth to lung which is more like smoking?"

Thanks for advice about liquids but still some questions?

What is sub-ohm?
I'm smoking like a smoker, I think, drawing through the mouth etc. How do you do it "direct lung inhales? Is this what I should be aiming for? I don't get great clouds of smoke like I've seen on some of the vaping videos on YouTube but generally happy with how it's going. Also, how quickly do people generally move to a lower strength (from 12 to 8 or 6)?

PencilsInSpace · 05/01/2017 18:49

Sub ohm is using a coil with a resistance lower than 1 ohm. It's a way of vaping at high power, usually using (lots of) low nicotine liquid and gives you the ability to blow Big Clouds. You use direct lung inhales for this sort of vaping, which means sucking the vapour straight into your lungs, as opposed to sucking it into your mouth and then inhaling (i.e. mouth-to-lung) as you would with a cigarette.

The kit you have is a fairly low powered mouth-to-lung setup and it sounds like you're doing fine Smile Sub-ohming and cloudchasing is something some vapers move on to, usually when they've been vaping a while. It's more of a 'hobby' thing than a 'trying to quit the fags' thing by that point.

If your kit is satisfying you and helping you stay off the fags that's all you need to worry about (and most people don't switch all at once, they 'dual-fuel' for a while and cut down the fags slowly). Once you've comfortably quit smoking for a while you might decide to cut down the nicotine and/or experiment with sub-ohming - or not - I started vaping in 2013 and still use 18mg liquid at 8.8 watts (so lower power than your setup).

For now, just keep counting the fags you don't smoke. You're doing great! Star

Dontneedausername · 05/01/2017 19:02

Sorry, didn't mean to confuse you! I was wrong about your set up!
I get really annoyed at new users being oversold Sub-Ohm kits! But pencils was correct and it's not that type Blush

PencilsInSpace · 05/01/2017 19:38

It's bloody Vapourlites causing the confusion!

YY to new users getting oversold sub-ohm kits. Some of the youngsters seem to switch straight onto them, which is great if there's something exciting that encourages them to quit smoking before much damage is done, but it bothers me how much the market has gone so far in that direction. I don't think it serves the average smoker-who-wants-to-quit very well at all. If I was still a smoker now, I'd seriously question whether vaping was for me from what I see around me.

PencilsInSpace · 05/01/2017 19:53

And I'd be very daunted at the prospect of walking into my local vape shop. I get all my kit online but popped in before christmas for a last minute present for DH and it was wall-to-wall CLOUDS and beardy BLOKES dressed in black with plug piercings, giving me the side-eye. I'm not sure they knew what to make of someone who looked like their mum but apparently knew all about VG/PG and clapton wire Grin

There are other, fairly local vape shops that are not so intimidating, my nearest one is particularly bad. What really pisses me off is I went in there when they first opened and were trying to be a head shop/legal highs and had no cutomers and I told them they should be looking at vape stuff and they were asking my advice on what to get in - and now it's a Bloke Zone! Grrrr.

BagelGoesWalking · 06/01/2017 00:28

beardy BLOKES dressed in black with plug piercings that's the kind of videos I found on YouTube. Or beardy American trucker types who were going on about their vintage bikes/cars as well!*

Thanks for all the explanations, it's like learning a new language. It definitely seems to be keeping me off the fags, I was smoking about 10 a day, 15 on bad days and I only had 2 "normal" cigs today. I actually prefer the taste of the blueberry vaping liquid, so that's good.

Thanks also for the link to onepoundeliquid.com and the Alchemists Cupboard. The onepound site had a good explanation about the PG/VG which was useful for me. What flavours are your favourites?

Dontneedausername · 06/01/2017 07:22

One one pound eliquid - I love their lemon sherbert! And blackcurrant licquorice.
For the Alchemists cupboard, I love Coconut, caramel and hazelnut Honey. So much that I just buy the concentrate and mix my own now!!

We have a local one, which is staffed by 2 completely normal women! I was in for a battery and one was doing big clouds. I asked her about it, she let me try and that's how I started sub-ohming. But the shop is very much a mix of all types of stuff. Still buy online mostly as it's cheaper.

But then, I use my "normal" tank day to day and when out and about and save my sub-ohm stuff for evenings it at home. It definitely runs through a LOT more liquid!

PencilsInSpace · 06/01/2017 08:41

I'm a total pleb when it comes to juice. I pretty much only vape Hangsen RY4 and RY6 (now called Golden Tobacco) mixed 50/50, which I buy by the litre from Fasttech. Occasionally I'll vape a nice custard flavour - Grant's or Digby's are good.

DH is more adventurous and likes fruit flavours mostly. At the moment he's enjoying Giza and Alexia from Big Juice 'wonders of the world' range, currently on sale for £4 for 30ml. He also likes MyVapery French Toast and Paddington (Jam toast).

AgentCooper · 06/01/2017 08:43

Thanks Pencils, that's helpful Smile
