DP and contact with his ex

Just had another row with DP about the level of contact he has with his ex partner and want to garner some opinions.

For background, they have one DC. I expect contact with a young DC but it annoys me how often/not relevant the conversations are. I feel like I'm being intruded on.

We'll be in the car & she'll pop up replying to a message. They call about something or other most days. We'll be sat watching telly or I'll try to have a conversation and he'll be messaging her.

He's very open about it - will show me the messages etc and it is her initiating it or asking the questions. He's just told me to leave if I have a problem as it's the mother of his child. I'm now pissed off as it very rarely relates to child, general chit chat.

AIBU?

Go find someone else single, childless, and without that kind of baggage.

They have a child together, and obviously have history, friendship, and a bond together. He isn't going to stop..She's not going anywhere..but you can.

Find someone childless..stop trying to insert yourself in someone's life who has a child living with them permanently or sometimes. There are billions of single guys without this baggage, who would be respectful, serious and know how to establish boundaries.

There's absolutely no trust in this relationship anyways, he shouldn't feel the need to show you messages on his phone to "prove" something, and you shouldn't feel the need to spy and invade his privacy (if you do)

He doesn't care much about you....technically he's right though..if you don't like it you can leave.

Wow that's cold. Kids should always feel they can contact either parent.

In an emergency yes. To delay bedtime at 930pm or 10pm because ‘I really need to speak to daddy?’ Why? For the exw to not finish or implement bedtime and put them on with dad instead? Again, why? There is a reason for bedtimes yes? So they get enough sleep and have a good day the next day, I thought.

What is it about him having a cordial relationship with his Ex that makes you feel insecure?
