Just asked DH if he will buy me a cruise wear wardrobe as I need one and will be a classes heathen without one. He said he will stretch as far as a pair of deck shoes Shock

NickiFury · 05/08/2014 13:38

walter we were asked if we wanted to be on a group table and you'd move to a new restaurant each evening! all together, thus making firm friends for the duration of the cruise,

My response?

"In a word, No."

Fairenuff · 05/08/2014 13:43

Is like a very posh version of butlins which cannot be escaped?

Grin
Pagwatch · 05/08/2014 13:46

Thanks Thumb!

We have tried wii etc but he will only watch his siblings doing it unfortunately . Good thought though - we have tried to incorporate his obsessions. It's just tricky.

NickiFury · 05/08/2014 13:47

Grin I suppose it could be seen that way. The ships are massive though and there's loads of different bars and restaurants, it's like a big posh holiday resort except that it floats and is surrounded by sea on all sides. My best ever holiday actually.

emotionsecho · 05/08/2014 13:48

Resources are scarce for many things, still doesn't, in my opinion, justify self diagnosis and labelling of someone or something on the basis of a theory posited by a stranger on the internet who has no insight into the complex dynamics of a situation or an overall, objective view of the whole situation and all of those involved in it.

The damage caused by being wrong can be equally horrendous.

Waltermittythesequel · 05/08/2014 13:48

Nicki my response would have been the same.

However, the Disney Cruise? I am very, very jealous!

ArsenicFaceCream · 05/08/2014 13:50

Don't like the sound of it, put like that Fair Hmm

In fact 'cannot be escaped' is an aspect that sounds worse and worse the more I dwell on it.

I am always surprised by the all day availability of food on cruise ships, I'd struggle to fit in my cruise wear wardrobe at the end of the cruise, in fact I would probably just have to wear the wardrobe.Grin

IamtheZombie · 05/08/2014 13:54

Zombie loves cruises. It's been a couple of years since she's been on one (she used to do 2 or 3 a year) but she hopes she'll be well enough to go next year.

She will put her thinking hat cap on and later tonight she will post tomorrow's programme of events.

NickiFury · 05/08/2014 13:57

It was fabulous it really was. And believe it or not only as much Disney as you wanted, it's not in your face constantly, there's one end of the boat that is adults only as well, sports bar, pink champagne bar, Michelin starred restaurant etc. The kids club was fab too, they'd set up Andy from Toy Story's room for the kids to play in and the scare floor from Monsters Inc. The attention to detail was amazing. Highly recommended.

FlossyMoo · 05/08/2014 13:58

Grin @ emo

Zombie I await the entertainment programme with baited breath.

whyonearthdoyouthink · 05/08/2014 13:59

So what would you suggest people do when they cannot access resources, they know there is "something" wrong and they are unable to access professional support or are put on huge waiting lists? Sit back and watch their child suffer until maybe 3 or more years down the line they can get support, not ask others who may have more experience than them? I used to live in a bubble support was there - until we tried to access it. Thank god for the internet in my experience - if nothing else it leaves one feeling less alone.

Pagwatch · 05/08/2014 14:02

the adult section on the boat doesn't mean like Disney porn or something?

When I found out about Disney porn it was a day filled with things that cannot be unseen,

ArsenicFaceCream · 05/08/2014 14:02

I quite want to see Andy's room actually.

Hopefully virtual cruising can give your fix in the meantime Zomb

Grin No Disney porn, I refused to look at that thread. I am not having my Disney love tainted!

ArsenicFaceCream · 05/08/2014 14:03

Disney Porn!? Really?? Shock

They do have a "singles mingle" though Wink

Thumbwitch · 05/08/2014 14:05

I'd like to do a cruise one day - they keep advertising a cruise on the Rhein here, and the boat looks fabulous - like a very long barge but with ceiling to floor windows in the most expensive outside rooms. But I very much have The Fear that some poor lonely soul would attach themselves to me and I wouldn't be able to escape. I've been "that person" all my life, even at Infants' School - the one who the otherwise friendless latch on to. Most of the time it's been fine; but one place I worked, the girl who did that turned out to be the most colossal 2-faced backstabber. :(

Soooo - a cruise that was just for me and my family would be far better! But not for long otherwise the "trapped" element might kick in even with them... OK, a solo cruise. Tis the only way. Grin

FlossyMoo · 05/08/2014 14:06

I agree why that the internet can be a great source of support and wealth of knowledge.
However I don't agree with the harshness of some of that advice nor do I agree to putting what I see as damaging labels on children. It is there for those that choose to access it and individuals can decide to put it in to practise.
I do not see a positive out look/thread as any different I think it can be accessed but those that choose to but I for one would like to give people that option.

FlossyMoo · 05/08/2014 14:08

Disney Porn Shock I don't have a hat for that!!

ArsenicFaceCream · 05/08/2014 14:09

OK, a solo cruise. Tis the only way.

Sounds like a nice peaceful reading opportunity. I suppose I'd need a chef and a cocktail waiter though

I'm seriously thinking of taking my children on an Atlantic crossing cruise next year. It's a lot cheaper if you go when they're taking the ships back to the states after the summer. Would mean pulling dd out of school though. It's a dilemma.

Thumbwitch · 05/08/2014 14:24

Oh definitely Arse - I was anticipating the cruise having the usual crew as a necessity! Grin

I am so not googling for a Disney porn hat, I hate to think what might come up! Shock

FlossyMoo · 05/08/2014 14:24

Could you take her out Nicki?

I really fancy a cruise now or maybe just the 80's cocktail dresses.
