I'm here Squirrel Grin Haven't been able to get on all morning, I thought work had blocked it I was having a right panic!! Are you feeling any better?

Has anyone else struggled to get on here today?

FANC my birthday is 3rd December, I'll be 35 this year! BOO!!

nicnack thanks for that Smile dsd has only been with us for just over a month but it does look it's permanent. Hope I didn't sound mean yesterday - I honestly don't mind paying towards her upkeep but do feel it's unfair that I pay but her mum doesn't. Also, I have a reasonably well paid job and no children - if things were different DP would have to get maintenance off BM because we wouldn't be able to afford for him not to

FruitAndNutcase · 19/05/2006 11:38

Hi Squirrel, hello NAAM, thanks for your birthday will try and remember it! Dont worry about the age, Im already 35 Smile Its a good job we have younger DP's to help us feel younger isnt it???? Lol The internet in general but especially MN has been very slow all week, I keep thinking it is work checking my usage! Lol

How are you feeling today Squirrel?

Squirrel3 · 19/05/2006 11:49

Naam, the site had some major problems today, it seems they have sorted it out now, 'they' being those wonderful people at MN Towers, what would we do without them?

Felt really rotten earlier, bit brighter now though, thanks for asking. Smile

I had the shock yesterday evening, you know how difficult the relationship between dsd and I is and how hard I try with her but she is all for 'Mummy and Daddy' and not 'Daddy and squirrel' (don't know if I explained that too well, but ykwim), well, dss had left his coat behind Thursday morning so we took it round to him in the evening. I stayed in the car, (think BM would go mental if I was to roll up on the doorstep) and dsd said a quick hello to her dad then ran out to the car to talk to me for ten mins!!!!!!!! When dp got back in the car she said a quick bye to him and ran back indoors!!!!!

Dp was a bit peeved but pleased at the same time, peeved because she usually 'glues' herself to him as soon as she sees him and has to be prised (sp?) off when it is time to go back to Mum, but he was pleased that she was genuinely pleased to see me and wanted to chat!

Hi Squirrel, Im not too bad thanks, bearing up and all that. That's great news about DSD, what a lovely surprise for you. It is little things like that that really mean so much isn't it? Grin

NotActuallyAMum · 19/05/2006 12:11

awwww Squirrel that's lovely Smile

Bet that really put a smile on you face. As FANC said, it's little things like that which mean so much

Squirrel3 · 19/05/2006 12:11

You are sooooooo right, it was only something small but to me it was a major breakthrough, it did make meSmile.

Glad you are bearing up, I really do keep wishing something wonderful/magical would happen for you very soon, you really deserve it. {hug}

OP posts:
FruitAndNutcase · 19/05/2006 12:30

Yep cant wait, we are taking the kids to Florida next year so that is something to look forward to aswell Smile They will love it!

Squirrel3 · 19/05/2006 12:31

Most of dp's family have emigrated to Florida, they love it, are you doing the Disney World thing?

OP posts:
FruitAndNutcase · 19/05/2006 12:37

Oh yes definately! I have been to Florida twice before and absolutely loved it (who wouldnt). Dp has never been and says he doesnt really fancy it, but he will love it once he gets there. The kids will just enjoy going away I think as the youngest has never been abroad and the middle one went away once when he was a baby and cant remember it. I am so looking forward to seeing their faces Smile

NotActuallyAMum · 19/05/2006 12:38

Squirrel I think someone must have heard you yesterday say it's time something good happened to you Grin

FANC you're braver than me going to Florida. I'm all for quiet and relaxing holidays me

Squirrel3 · 19/05/2006 12:46

Shock

Bet you'll soon get back into it Grin

What are you up to over the weekend?

Squirrel3 · 19/05/2006 14:13

Got the grandkids tonight, probably spend Saturday recovering, Lea is teething again so probably won't sleep.

Dp gave her a Winnie the Pooh teddy bear yesterday, she took one look and started to giggle, reached out her arms, grabbed it, gave it a great big cuddle and smothered it with kisses and refused to put it down for the rest of the day, had a screaming fit when I wouldn't let her take it in the bath with her!!!!! Me thinks her and pooh bear are going to be inseparable! Bless! Smile

OP posts:
NotActuallyAMum · 19/05/2006 14:38

Awww, bless her Smile Sounds like your DP has got some competition Grin

Squirrel3 · 19/05/2006 14:47

Lol, she makes me laugh when dp picks her up, she looks so excited, when dp feeds her she always tries to feed him too, they get more over themselves than they do in Lea.

She still has the 'I'm cute, buy me things' look, you know the one where she tilts her head to one side, looks at you with huge baby blue eyes and grins. She'll go far that one! Wink

OP posts:
NotActuallyAMum · 19/05/2006 15:07

She sounds gorgeous Smile

We're not doing much this weekend, DP is on days so he has to be up at 5, he's back for half 1 though so it's not too bad. We were hoping to have another barbeque but it's given out a pig of a weekend weather-wise. We're working our way through the garden atm, neither of us are gardeners so we're trying to make it as maintenance-free as possible, we're getting there slowly. Can't remember if I mentioned it or not but he did finally agree to move house a few weeks ago. But we just can't afford it, specially now with the wedding to pay for. I am slowly getting used to living there, and I do agree it wouldn't be a good idea to move to a smaller house, not now anyway with dsd living with us. That and the fact that I've spent about £12.5k on it since I moved in means we're staying put for the time being at least

Squirrel3 · 19/05/2006 15:16

A bbq sounds nice but its howling a \link{http://www.cartoonstock.com/lowres/bre0065l.jpg\gale} here!

So do you feel more at home there Naam?, you should do, it sounds like you have put a lot of time, effort, not to mention money making it 'home' for you. Bet it is unrecognisable as the place you first moved into. Its yours and dp's home now. Smile

OP posts:
NotActuallyAMum · 19/05/2006 15:26

lol at the picture Grin It's gone really dark here, think we're in for a downpour. Hope it's not going to thunder, I'm bloody terrified of it!! Must try to be brave though, don't want dsd growing up like me - it was only my flippin' mother being scared of it that's made me like it

Yes it certainly is our home now Smile and yes I do feel better, you're not wrong that it looks different - unrecognisable would be my word for it Grin Only got the kitchen to do after the garden then it's all done. We haven't had new carpet in the lounge or bedroom and I doubt we'll be able to afford to replace the kitchen carpet but apart from that, absolutely everything else is new. I do like the house and always have - it's the history I don't like but it is getting better, slowly but surely. I really don't like the garden though, but as I said we're getting there with it
