The refurbished SP Wine Bar is once again open, as while you don't have to drink to be a Step Parent, it helps.

Contact changed at no notice?

Disney Dad and sulky Skids?

Damned if you do and damned if you don't???

Ahhh, thats better!

Please can I drop in for a G and T? - I need it!

DSS (16) came yesterday with no presents for anyone (luckily I had saved back a couple of presents for DS1 and 2 to open yesterday whilst DSS opened his gifts so he gave the boys and DH those). He opened his presents and has gone home this morning having pocketed the cash we and others gave him but has left the rest of his carefully chosen presents discarded in a corner. What's most upsetting though is that neither DH nor I got a thank you. Xmas Angry

Hey ho, it's our 10th wedding anniversary today and DH is just opening the fizz Grin.

NotaDisneyMum · 27/12/2011 18:00

I'm back again! Just spent the afternoon working, of all things, (I'm a Parish Clerk and work from home) while DP spent time with DSS; they took his 'flying presents' to the local park to test them out.

It's so hard to know if we're doing the right thing - I almost wish that DSS's mum hadn't been so accommodating about Christmas (there is nothing in the CO giving DP contact on odd-year Christmases). DSS's week here was agreed months ago, when things seemed to be OK - now we're facing the risk of causing him additional emotional distress because we can't get him help til the new year Sad

Wine < slurp> that's better!

Ive lurked on MN for awhile but have finally decided to join purely to tell all you lovely Stepmums that you have kept me sane over the past 6mths and for that i thank you, my dp has 2 children aged 9yrs and 13yrs and an ex who enjoys making my life miserable. Reading posts on here have made me realise im not a terrible person for sometimes wishing things were different so Wine on me

BarfTheHeraldAngelsHeave · 27/12/2011 18:23

Love the name smiling and welcome.

NotADisneyMum - that all sounds a bit stressful. Do you know why he's doing that?

2gorgeous - teenage DSS by any chance? They are renowned for that level of self centredness!!

Hello all!

Well, I'm still eating fudge and drinking Wine

Welcome to the delurkers !

We're having a little impromptu paaaaaaarty here. Just finished a drunken roasted duck and children are running wild while there is some funny guitar hero being played by the supposedly grown ups.

BarfTheHeraldAngelsHeave · 27/12/2011 19:52

That sounds like a lot of fun - certainly more fun than chez heave where we have spent the first of two days constructing flat packed furniture before putting the kids to bed early as we'd had enough of them.

I may open a packet of peanuts later.

I am living the dream Grin

Hello I'm posting from bed where the hangover is already kicking in.

Had a mammoth drinking session play date this afternoon, dh came home and I was forced to retire to bed pissed as a fart with a poorly head.

We had a lovely evening last night other than the spiteful cow spiteful one, phoning to scream at dsd and reduce her to tears for daring to grow a pair visit her dad, strangely she didn't do the same to dss -who would have told her to go fuck herself-- who is able to stand up for himself.

BarfTheHeraldAngelsHeave · 27/12/2011 20:44

I have a date tomorrow night to go and have a few drinks in RL with a friend of mine Grin yay! Night out!!

BarfTheHeraldAngelsHeave · 27/12/2011 20:57

We've had a fun filled few days.

See my post in AIBU about the duvet cover.

I'd have a very large drink if i wasn't upduffed.

MJinSparklyStockings · 27/12/2011 21:30

Ah another baby - makes me come over all broody.

Congrats when is babs due?

NotaDisneyMum · 27/12/2011 21:32

It's been strangely relaxing this evening; DP and DSS made dinner together, and I've become a lot more accepting of DSS's behaviour all of a sudden; his fidgeting, random attention seeking comments and ability to ignore me for hours aren't bothering me so much any more Xmas Smile

HeraldAngels - there's a huge back story to DSS's behaviour - in a nutshell, he has created a fantasy "memory" in his head of his parents being happily married (he's too young to remember them together) and is grieving for the loss of that because he believes that every inconvenience or wrong that he suffers would be resolved if only his parents hadn't divorced.
He has been incredibly conflicted for a long time due to his mums hostility towards DP (and me) and his older sisters choice not to have any contact with DP (her dad) for nearly a year, now.

I'm shopping for a new food processor Xmas Grin

deemented · 27/12/2011 21:33

MJ - She's due 25th Feb, but will be earlier as i'm a diabetic they plan to induce me.

2gorgeousboys · 27/12/2011 21:37

Hi Barf - yep he's 16.5 and fortunately/unfortunately DS1 and 2 are more considerate!

Trying really hard not to stress that he's invited himself for New Years Eve, which is fine as we were either staying in or going to neighbours but can't come until he finishes work at 9:30/10pm. So we decided last week that we would book a table at the restaurant he works at and bring him home with us. DH has just had a text to say he's told his boss he needs to finish at 7:30 when we eat so he can have a meal with us, which is great but NYE is now turning out to be expensive for 5 of us at a restaurant so I want to cancel.

BarfAndHeave · 30/12/2011 21:09

Oi Oi anyone about in the bar tonight?

WinterLover · 30/12/2011 21:37

I'm here Grin

MJinSparklyStockings · 30/12/2011 22:37

HEllo fellow stepees I'm here unfortunately sober as I have to get ds1 from a concert shortly.

:(.

I will have a lovely drink when I get back though.

Dsd has unexpectedly arrived for weekend - asked no questions but really pleased to see her.

NotaDisneyMum · 30/12/2011 23:00

I'm here now - we 'did' Christmas day today with both DCs - we've had a fabulous time!
Much bucks fizz and read wine has been drunk, but I can squeeze in a small one!

NotaDisneyMum · 30/12/2011 23:01

Or red wine, even - maybe I'd better not!

MJinSparklyStockings · 30/12/2011 23:10

Ah it's Christmas - here have another

Purpleroses · 30/12/2011 23:15

Can I join you - glass of leftover mulled wine in hand :)

MJinSparklyStockings · 30/12/2011 23:29

Dh has gone to get Ds so have g n t in hand - need it to numb the sounds of dds screams - she does not like going to bed.

Purpleroses · 30/12/2011 23:31

Oh, that's late! Mine are well asleep

MJinSparklyStockings · 30/12/2011 23:36

It's a vicious circle - we should sleep train her - but she hates bed. So we don't - so she gets tired - etc.

She is dropping off now - but we are fairly laid back and we rarely leave them to cry - ds is in our bed and we will move him when we go up.

Raving ebf co sleeping hippies - that's us
