Thanks for that - I will read back through those for advice. We have told him and sometimes he seems quite interested but other times I am not sure. I certainly don't think (as an only child with no cousins) he is prepared for sharing with a newborn baby! Thanks for the juice Petal - I must have put away litres of the stuff in the last few weeks!

mj don't you know by now that you should just put up and shut up Grin. Honestly, can't believe that grateful comment. What a crock of you know what. Funny how when BM's post about problems with their DCs they're not just told to be bloody grateful they have children!

WildistheWind · 08/11/2010 21:14

Was just talking to DH about it and he was quite shocked !

Double standards , I tell you.

mj you are very funny today Grin

reddaisy · 08/11/2010 21:44

Bloody hell - what's been going on today then?

I haven't managed to follow it all but looks like you all stood up for yourselves very well.

I haven't posted loads on this thread but in general the tone on Mumsnet is VERY anti stepmothers/second wives.

I got some very vitriolic responses in an AIBU post I made regarding sleeping arrangements in our household for the children a while ago.

I came away from that thinking that there are a lot of bitter women on Mumsnet who have been cheated on and assume that every second wife/stepmother was an OW at some point and then beat them accordingly when they meet them on Mumsnet.

They then help to reinforce the stereotypical wicked stepmother myth which really pisses me off.

This is a bit of a rant so I hope you understand what I mean!

Hope you are all having a good week with your DPs and DSDs and DCs.

theredhen · 08/11/2010 21:53

What a busy day on here for us Step parents.

I have chocolate hob nobs and white wine and an empty house - even DP isn't here.

Bliss.

Do you know I very nearly posted in AIBU pretending to be BM and asking if AIBU to want to shag my boyfriend for the weekend cos I can't be arsed to look after my sick children, I'm quite happy to let a woman, who I've never met before do it and then send a snotty e-mail later about how it should have been done.

Wonder what sort of responses I would have got then?

reddaisy · 08/11/2010 21:56

Grin the redhen!

I would love a hob nob, I'm getting hungry and there are no treats in the house so I can't snack. Dammit.

And lucky you having the house to yourself.

theredhen · 08/11/2010 22:10

reddaisy,

There's one hob nob left - do you want it? Grin

mjinhiding - I knew you were mean when I read your defence of the use of BM.

But taking the last hobnob? You have really shown your true colours now.

I am going to report back on the other thread and tell them they were right about stepmothers being truly wicked.

I needed that biscuit.

I'm very generous, me. I'll share my last few drops of wine with anyone. I'm not going to have you gossiping that I don't share anything. Wink

cobbledtogether · 08/11/2010 22:33

Hi all
No wine for me, but have just had a mug of milk and a number of dark chocolate digestives. I do like a choc hobnob as well.

Well what a day today has been. I have to admit I didn't see todays little fracas coming at all - no one had dared to suggest that there was a problem with the EEW or ESCs. BM eh? Who'da thunk!

Sometimes I just get tired of the whole thing. I remember well thinking that being a DSM couldn't be too bad. I was a reasonable human being, I liked DSD, BM seemed fine, what could go wrong? But the fact is that things do go wrong and last time I checked, I didn't sign over my right to be human and have feelings the minute I became a stepmum, but for some reason most posters on here think that I should.

Thank god for Step Mums. There would be a lot of children out there without the love and support and richness that comes with an extended family if it wasn't for us.

Anyway, in honour of us all I am now working on a little something for Christmas. Watch this space Wink
