Wow @DuncinToffee

Not sure how you held on at the end.

I've just seen that we have to play you next!

MustTryHarderAndHarder · 07/12/2025 16:32

Yes, agree about Sky @Snowypeaks .

DuncinToffee · 07/12/2025 16:35

Wow wow wow, we have beaten Chelsea!!!!

I thought the ref was never going to blow the full time whistle

Brosnan was outstanding

Congratulations, amazing result!

DuncinToffee · 09/12/2025 10:18

Big miss for Spurs

England's Jessica Naz has suffered an ACL injury in her right knee, Tottenham Hotspur have confirmed, and she will undergo surgery. A club statement adds that they give "Jess their full love and support on her recovery journey". Naz also suffered an ACL injury in her left knee in 2019.

Dearie me, it's an epidemic! Wishing Naz a full and speedy recovery.

DuncinToffee · 13/12/2025 17:24

Deserved win for Arsenal today.

Very kind, Duncin'.
We needed it. Haven't seen the match yet but I gather it was a better performance from us.

Snowypeaks · 14/12/2025 20:26

What a match between ManU and Spurs! I enjoyed it all the more because they both dropped points, which suited Arsenal. Was really worried that Man U would leapfrog us. Spurs have an element of Gareth Taylor's City about them. They perform at a high level and are very difficult to score against but find it difficult to change gear if they need to. Man United are such a tough side, mentally, so I was sure they would come storming back but also I knew that 3-0 was too much for them to turn around in the time. Phew!😆

Brilliant performance from Man City, too. Viv Miedema and Bunny Shaw are the dream team. The two best strikers in the WSL by an absolute mile. The entire squad is sensational. Only Achilles heel is that they do concede sloppy goals. And they need a keeper at the level of Hampton or Van Domselaar. I can see them drawing with Chelsea because of that - a 3-3 or something similar - and having a crazy 5-4 sort of game when they play us next year. Though I wouldn't like to predict whether City or Arsenal would get the win!

All in all, an absolute cracker of a final game weekend before Christmas.

West Ham have sacked Rehanne Skinner

I have done my bit for Women's football by voting for Chloe Kelly and the Lionesses on the BBC SPotY

Just voted for Chloe Kelly.

I find motor racing such a rich boy playground-so depressing and so dominant

ThatCalmFinch · 19/12/2025 00:16

I agree, I voted for Chloe in the first round and Ellie in the second as somehow inconceivably neither Chloe nor Hannah made it through to the last three - its a totally different world compared with Lando's super rich background.

Snowypeaks · 19/12/2025 06:46

Didn't see any of it because I was out, but yay for Michelle Agyemang.

ETA: Not surprising about Rehanne Skinner, unfortunately.

Oxonc3 · 10/01/2026 17:16

Arsenal had soooo many chances today and failed to score. Not great.

ThatCalmFinch · 10/01/2026 19:15

I hadn't realised that CK was still out with the injury from the England game, hope she's back soon.

Scoobydoobydoo19 · 10/01/2026 20:39

Hello

I'm on the men's football thread so thought I'd show my face here as well. I was disappointed Arsenal couldn't capitalise on the extra player today.

Snowypeaks · 10/01/2026 21:17

Hello, Scoobydoobydoo19

Haven't seen the Arsenal match yet but United are very good at being compact in central areas especially and they are arguably harder to score against when they are a player down. That said, it sounded like we were very wasteful

MrsMitford3 · 10/01/2026 21:26

Def a missed opportunity for Arsenal.

Lots of nearly and post rattled but disappointing result.

DuncinToffee · 11/01/2026 15:23

We started with a loss against Man City. No idea why Fernandez goal was disallowed, shocking decision from the ref.

Agree, it looked like a mistake from the goalkeeper. Ruby Mace, I think it was, was close to her, but wasn't affecting her ability to control the ball. She didn't foul her.

DuncinToffee · 11/01/2026 15:51

Yes it was Ruby Mace. If anything she got pushed by the goalie.

Despite not being a fan of VAR, I still don't understand why it isn't used in the WSL

How infuriating!
Even if you do end up losing anyway, a goal is a goal and "goals change games". You'll never know now.

I favour the introduction of VAR in the WSL but only on a challenge system, like in tennis. Challenges to be made by coaching staff (some of whom are watching the game on a laptop anyway) or the team captain within 30 seconds of the incident. Three challenges per game. No automatic review of goals.

I assume it's because a lot of the WSL teams don't play at their "home" ground so Brighton play at Crawley and West Ham at Dagenham & Redbridge, for example, and those grounds are shit holes smaller and operate in lower leagues so there's no capacity or funding for them to be installed.

DuncinToffee · 17/01/2026 10:10

FA Cup weekend.

We started it off with a convincing 5-0 win against West Brom.

OP posts:
Snowypeaks · 17/01/2026 12:10

Great for the confidence. Good win for West Ham, too!

That said, I wish to reiterate my rant from a little while ago about the folly of putting women's football on subscription telly and apply that rant with knobs on to the FA Cup.
