Bad news as well from that game, Karen Holmsgaard suffered an ACL injury.

oh no.

It is so worrying how many of the players in the WSL do their ACL.

Need to up the research

So sorry to hear that. And Katja Snoijs (sp?) was injured as well, so I hear.

Snowypeaks · 20/01/2026 09:11

The next round has thrown up some great ties. I hope we can actually watch them live.

DuncinToffee · 20/01/2026 09:28

We have Liverpool away.

Cracking stuff. Plus LCL vs Spurs, Chelsea vs ManU, West Ham vs Brighton...

AmplePlayer · 24/01/2026 00:35

Could someone explain to me please why Arsenal are struggling to score goals? I'm genuinely confused.

DuncinToffee · 24/01/2026 10:50

Can't help you there. We lost another home game, 6 now, and it is really not good enough.

Fortunately we didn't struggle too much today.

Must have been our best game of the season.

Very well done to the team.

DuncinToffee · 24/01/2026 16:07

Very good win that for Arsenal

Through to the final of the Champions Cup! Which I have now decided is a great competition especially if we win it.

Arsenal's Laila Harbert, promising central midfielder, just turned 19 years old, has gone to Everton on loan. Hope she does well for you, Duncin'. She's just had three months in the NWSL to toughen her up. I assume you are light in central midfield because of Karen Holmgaard's injury?

DuncinToffee · 29/01/2026 09:04

Arsenal had fun in that game.

I am not sure why we signed Harbert, maybe to add to the squad as we seem to have another long term injury. Inma Gabarro has also been recalled from loan.

Lots of unhappy grumbles amongst the fans about Sorensen and the lack of investment. Relegation seems a worry at the moment 😬

You definitely won't get relegated and so many injuries will derail any team's season. The injury hoodoo seems to love Everton. But do you feel that maybe the fans do have a point about Sorensen?

Juliacore · 29/01/2026 15:21

I came across this older discussion and wanted to add that I’m really curious how everyone’s feeling about the squads now that the season’s properly underway. Any teams surprising you so far, or players stepping up more than expected? Always fun to hear what others are seeing week to week.

The criticism at Sorensen is justified, he is getting the tactics wrong and just seems to be barking orders. I think it is time for a change, just don't ask me who to replace him with Smile

But the new owners have to invest properly for the team to go forward and decrease the gap with the top 4.

I have to say, I think you have a very good squad. Not top four, but way above where Sorensen has taken you.

Hiya
I'm not at all surprised that City are leading! I think they and Man United have recruited brilliantly and City especially have fantastic quality and balance. I thought/hoped we (Arsenal) would be doing better, still hoping to overtake Chelsea at some stage and maybe put pressure on City...but one step at a time.
Spurs (annoyingly) have surprised me, as have LCL - really impressive results and recruitment in Spurs' case by Martin Ho.

I am quietly thrilled with Stina Blackstenius who is having her best season for us and showing previously unsuspected/underused qualities in her all-round play. Also thrilled with our new keeper, Anneke Borbe, who is genuine competition for Daphne van Domselaar. All our signings from the summer and this Jan have performed impressively, there just haven't been enough of them.

Who are you getting excited about?

MrsMitford3 · 31/01/2026 22:41

I am a huge Stina fan!!!

DuncinToffee · 01/02/2026 14:01

Wooooooooo, come on down to Goodison Park 🎶

Great win for us 💙

Good luck for later Arsenal.

Playing like they did today, they deserve to win the league.

But if we play like we did against Chelsea the other week then we can beat them.

bincrate · 01/02/2026 17:26

City were excellent today, I took my Mancunian born daughter to her first game of the season (we are exiled in the north east) and what a cracker of game for the kids. But Chelsea were disappointing. No solidity, no purpose apart from Thompson. Walsh worked hard but wasn’t able to do anything about City’s midfield. The missed Bronze so much.
