Good win for the Toffees last night, Chelsea in the next round.

I see Chelsea continue splashing their cash.

Yes, I have just seen that.

They are going to have some very expensive bench warmers.

Yes, and you put Spurs out of the Cup as well - yay! 😁(Apologies to the Spurs fans.)

Snowypeaks · 30/01/2025 11:11

As long as Chelsea keep winning, it's not a problem. Walsh is a good signing for Chelsea because they don't have a really top class playmaker from deep positions. Erin Cuthbert will be her minder like Stanway or the other Lioness whose name I forget is for England.

What did you think of this/

I rate Chloe Kelly and I'll never forget how kind and caring she was to the devastated Nigeria GK at the end of our match in the WWC, but I can't wholly support her here. I understand that the club will not let her leave for the club of her choice (don't know which one but assume it's a rival), but would let her go somewhere else - whether that's abroad or the WSL isn't clear. I don't think she is reasonable to demand that she gets out of her contract early and goes to a rival club. If the manager is being nasty to her she has all my sympathy though - these disputes should never get personal and that failure is on the manager.

It's unprofessional

Sorry that was a bit of short answer Smile

I understand her frustration, especially with the approaching Euros, but airing it on SM is not going to help her case. She has been a professional player long enough to know how contracts and transfers work.

This would be good as a short term thing. We desperately need a fit winger with pace. I don't think it will go beyond the summer, though. Which would also be good.

Might be a bidding war with Man U

Apparently Everton enquired earlier this month but Kelly wanted a top 4 team

Aha, interesting.
I suspect City will demand a bigger price from United than from Arsenal.

United are interested in a long term contract, which might be more attractive to Chloe but it's probably more difficult to sort out the admin in time.
If I were her, I would sign a pre-contract deal with MU and move to Arsenal in the short term. But then I would say that!

MustTryHarderAndHarder · 31/01/2025 09:07

Yes, not sure what happened there. My husband is really upset about it.

I assume she asked for more playing time and Renee couldn't guarantee it.

Very pleased about Chloe though. It said that she used to be at Arsenal.

People are saying that the MC manager needs to go.

ACL injury for Meg Finnigan, a big blow for us.

So sad for her. She's your captain, or a core player for you, am I right?

I think Wienroither herself is quite upset, too. But she's got Viv there who along with Beth Mead "fostered" her while they were all recovering from their ACL injuries. The reason Wienroither is surplus to requirements is that she is a straight up and down right back, and Slegers prefers RBs who can play in midfield. LW isn't comfortable doing that.

I would imagine City snapped our hand off, though, because they are short of defenders and she is class. Very popular with other players, I hear, too.

Snowypeaks · 31/01/2025 10:17

Chloe was an Academy player, highly rated, but she couldn't break into the team because we had exceptional players ahead of her, so she left for Everton.

I don't know what to think about Taylor. I don't like him, but that's probably because he manages a rival club! I just wish all parties would draw a line under the business and move on - although it will be good for us if Chloe Kelly is playing "angry".

Thanks.

All the comments this morning about CK on HYS were very positive.

I thought that there might be a backlash but there wasn't.

Snowypeaks · 01/02/2025 16:43

There has been a bit of a backlash I think, but it doesn't really matter now.

I saw the interview with Taylor and I just got a whiff of gaslighting. They can't stand each other, apparently, the relationship went downhill after the Euros and it's from that time that her supposed "deterioration" dates. I must admit I hadn't appreciated how little she was playing.

So I am now inclining towards Kelly's side - if City genuinely thought she wasn't good enough to start (ever!), or had a bad attitude, why wouldn't they let her go to United. Seems odd to say they don't want to strengthen a rival. City are stacked in attacking areas. If she isn't part of your plans, keeping her on the bench and giving her "garbage minutes" here and there is punitive behaviour.

Anyway, hopefully it's all over now and everybody has got what they want!

We have signed Maren Mjelde on a free following Finnigan's injury. Our new owners are investing in the women's team as promised.

Great signing - she's a very versatile dm/cb, knows the wsl, can hit the ground running. Excellent.
