Renée Slegers has been made permanent manager, well deserved I would say.

WSL is back

Great news. I hadn't heard.

Snowypeaks · 17/01/2025 12:25

Yes, indeed. The fans are (wait for it) over the moon, Brian.
😂
I am delighted. And now we can crack on with our season and any transfer business - whether now or in the summer.

Emma Hayes had got one over on Jonas again. He has lost his best player to Chelsea.

Poor Jonas.

Snowypeaks · 22/01/2025 16:12

Girma to Chelsea?

Girma to Chelsea?

Yes, for $1.1m ! I forgot to say what on earth I was talking about!

Snowypeaks · 25/01/2025 15:37

Listened to some of the Villa-Man City match. Miedema scored twice in the first half. That's four goals in three games.

I knew she would come back but I was hoping she would leave it for a couple of weeks!

Yes.

It looks like Bunny will be back for our game as well unfortunately.

Snowypeaks · 25/01/2025 18:12

😥

MustTryHarderAndHarder · 26/01/2025 18:10

Oh well, we tried.

Chelsea are so aggressive. They push and shove all the time.

McCabe needs to be more careful. I assume she will miss the City match unless the Bristol City match counts?

DuncinToffee · 26/01/2025 18:17

We were just so sloppy today

I saw a bit of your game, Arsenal were the better team but the lack of finishing cost you.

Agree with both of you.

The Bristol City match is the one KM will miss because it is a domestic competition ban. I have a lot of sympathy with KM today because Chelsea were over-physical and the referee was hopeless and KM was fantastic defensively. But Katie has to take this lesson - she can't keep talking her way into the ref's book. She's an experienced player, no excuses.

Also, we still need to replace Miedema with a striker of equal stature. World class strikers would have put away at least one of the 5 or 6 good chances we had.

MustTryHarderAndHarder · 26/01/2025 20:37

That is good news re KM.

Annoyed that the Bristol City match is on at the same time as the men's match.

Snowypeaks · 26/01/2025 20:44

Tbh I'm really not too fussed about the men's matches these days. I keep up with the results, and listen to Arsenal.com commentary while I'm cooking at the weekend, but not much more than that.

MustTryHarderAndHarder · 26/01/2025 20:57

We always give priority to the men's matches probably because we have been following them for longer.

We have the men's match on the large monitor and the women's on the spare laptop.

Samandytimlucypeterolivia · 26/01/2025 22:46

I was at the chelsea v arsenal game, I feel like both teams played the same level, not one was better than the other. It was back and forth, it was tense game, chelsea were more aggressive today than usual, not sure why. Usually we are the ones getting pushed and shoved. The problem with arsenal is the squad depth, you look at the difference on the bench, we took off 4 world class player and put 5 on, it’s an unreal team. I personally don’t think it was a penalty after further examining when I got home, Kim little does in fact get the ball first, she all does make contact with LJ, however I feel it wasn’t obvious enough hence the penal given… I love Katie McCabe but she brought that on herself. Especially with a ref who has form for carding for dissent. Arsenal need to draft some players this transfer window.

Snowypeaks · 26/01/2025 22:55

It was a good game - interesting that we all saw it more or less the same way. That never happens!

Snowypeaks · 27/01/2025 18:46

I was wrong. Katie McCabe was given a straight red, so she will miss the Man City matches as well. Absolute disaster.

Oh dear.

Who do you think will cover for her?

Snowypeaks · 27/01/2025 21:57

I really don't know.

Steph must be shattered. Ditto Emily Fox who took an absolute kicking from Baltimore as well. Lina Hurtig might play as a wingback? Assuming she is fit, she wasn't even in the squad on Sunday. Normally I would say Laura Wienroither because I think she can play LB as well but she's barely kicked a ball in anger, can't be match fit.

Snowypeaks · 28/01/2025 15:43

Okay, slightly better news on the red card suspension for Katie McCabe - it's a two-match ban. So Bristol City in the FA Cup and Man City away in the WSL.

DuncinToffee · 30/01/2025 10:25

Good win for the Toffees last night, Chelsea in the next round.

I see Chelsea continue splashing their cash.
