Do Scottish fans really not support England?

There’s always a running joke about Scottish fans wanting anyone but England to win and supporting which ever team England is playing against. I totally get the friendly rivalry but is it actually true that most Scottish fans want England to lose in the Euros final or do most want England to win deep down given Scotland is out?

If England aren’t playing I think most England fans would support Scotland or Wales as fellow Brits, especially in a Euro or World Cup final!

Or they go and start a thread on MN about it and many posters join in to express their amazement that their rivals don't support them and claim everyone in that rival country hates them so much they're afraid to cross the border.

Except England don't regard Scotland as their 'rival country' (in football or otherwise). Most English people would probably support Scotland against any non-British team, even though they know most Scots would support 'anyone but England' and even though they know some Scots genuinely hate the English. It's very much a one-way rivalry!

I was responding to the Iron Bru advert which talks about England winning the world cup. The man in the advert says he doesn't keep going on about it. To which I responded, as if Scotland would ever shut up about it.

As a Scottish person I also don't find him likeable either - not sure why. For me it was always Federer or Murray.

No idea. Wasn't aware it was a thing but I'm plugging into the Borg mind now so hopefully there'll be answers soon.

When Scotland/NIreland or Wales get as far as us in any Euro I'll care about their opinion until then they need to keep stump on anything football related HTH!
They did the same in the last Euro when we played Italy in the final (you know Italy the same traitors who switched sides half way through WW2) they wanted them to win as well.

...it's exactly this for most Scots, with bells on, to the nth degree, for decades and decades - we don't hate you, we just find you (via all the media bias and self-entitlement), to be tediously arrogant. 🤷‍♂️
