The Welsh cyclist who I saw win a medal at the 2022 Commonwealth Games and the raising of the Welsh flag will be there- Emma Finucaine, one of the fastest women in the world on a cycle.

I remember this happening in London when the bbc were trying to interview (Mo farah I think?) and it was Greg Rutherford sneaking in a gold for the long jump.

Great action in the pool tonight; Summer McIntosh is so impressive, and still only 17. I'm looking forward to the mixed medley relay but it's such a shame Adam Peaty has had to withdraw - our chances of defending the title will have been hurt by that.

I had to google that (not Carl Lewis obviously) but yes he is. Normally I follow more closely on an Olympic year but been distracted, hardly know anything about him.

@Supergirl1958 I think the speculation is that he has decided to save his strength for the men's 4x100 medley relay instead of racing in the mixed event tonight - it may be that the race has come just a bit too early for him after he came down with COVID.

Love it when a gold goes to a smaller nation. Can't underestimate how much it means to a nation to see someone win.

And yes Daryl was great so close.

I'm always interested where some athletes seem very minimal and then others have long flowing hair, bracelets, necklaces, beaded belts?? (In the case of one of the US athletes)
I'm always worried one will be whacked in the face by their necklace or hair!!
I run (admittedly at snail pace compared to these amazing women) and have to plait or tightly tie my hair - which is elbow length - back.

My TV for the fourth time today has tried to close down as no interaction lol.

I left the dressage on (no stomach for it) whilst I whistle stop cleaned the house but other than that I have had a perfect day.

If the relays swimmers get a medal in the pool Peaty would get a medal if he swam the heat.

The quartet of James Guy, Jack McMillan from Northern Ireland, Wales' Kieran Bird and Tom Dean set a time of 7:05.11 to progress.

So all 6 get a medal as they are part of the team.

i was thinking about Matt Whitlock, we have seen him since 2012, and Tom Daley even longer! it is great that him and Adam Peaty, as well as Andy Murray want to carry on and love how level headed they are all.
it is a long time they have been doing their sports

Peaty has covid and the team must think James Wilby will perform better in the final.
