The Welsh cyclist who I saw win a medal at the 2022 Commonwealth Games and the raising of the Welsh flag will be there- Emma Finucaine, one of the fastest women in the world on a cycle.

Rebecca Andrade is very close. Especially when she’s not from a top gymnastics nation (I prefer her gymnastics tbh)

@toomanytonotice She is a very charismatic gymnast, I find - I love her current floor routine. And as you say, it's all the more impressive for not being from one of the traditional gymnastics powerhouse countries.

I'm sorry for Max Whitlock today - what an amazing competitor he has been.

High scores of the pommel so far, happy for Rhys 🇮🇪, I hope he can hang on for gold. I tuned in to watch Matt, I’m sad for him but it’s lovely to see younger talent scoring highly.

Re: the false starting didnt it used to be that there were two false starts allowed but, even if you didn’t false start the first time but false started the 2nd time, you were out?

I remember this American guy years ago, he staged a sit in at a world champs and refused to move because he was deemed to have false started but protested there must have been something wrong with the instrument that measured it! It was funny at the time but also not because I think it held up the whole programme!

Ok I saw all the pommel horse guys, I loved it! I caught myself thinking a couple of times ‘you know, that doesn’t look too hard actually, once you’re up on the horse it’s just a bit of spinning’ 🤦‍♀️. What a fool I am!

It’s all the upper body strength they need! Reckon I’d break my hips soon as look at it!

Loved the interview with the American runner a short while back, who I thought looked stunning.

I'm not sure why she thought she should make the final. To make the final you have to be in the top 8 in the world. She isn't, she is there or there abouts good enough to be making semi finals etc but she hasn't really been Olympic final level for a few years. Michael Johnson wasn't suprised and neither was I.

@Halfblindbunny totally agree, I don’t know who she was trying to convince by saying the things she did! She also said the race wasn’t even that fast.

They keep interviewing people immediately after they've lost/not qualified. I think its difficult fir them to come up with something to say, on the spur of the moment when they're obviously going to be hugely disappointed and probably not really want to speak on camera.
Having said that the last few competitions I've seen her in, she's not at the level she was a few years ago.
(But confidence and believing in yourself is obviously a good quality to have as a sportsperson)

@Fizbosshoes oh I think you’re right. You do have to have a certain confidence but it was more the fact she came across as really arrogant and dismissive sort of trying to say it wasn’t a fast race anyway and that her form was really good. I’ve always liked her I just think in this case, it wasn’t good. Looked really bitter and I think if she wanted to she could have said no to the interview.

Anyone seen the situation with Fraser pryce and sha’carri Richardson not being allowed to the warm area in their normal route because they didn’t arrive on their team bus?

I've seen worse. Finis had some plain white ones at one point and yes there were modesty panels but from a distance they definitely looked quite risqué.

@Supergirl1958 I have no measure in which to judge Hinchcliffe. It is an exciting time. Michael Johnson was saying how technically awful he was and how good he could be if he just changed a few things.

Wow, what a race. She seemed so long legged. The person who came fourth seemed to be doing twice as many steps as everyone else.

If she hadn’t slowed to begin celebrating, they might have got the wr. It was amazing.
