The Welsh cyclist who I saw win a medal at the 2022 Commonwealth Games and the raising of the Welsh flag will be there- Emma Finucaine, one of the fastest women in the world on a cycle.

Isn’t that just because the BBC don’t have the rights to much of it this time - Warner Brothers bought the European rights, so you need to watch on Discovery to see most of it?

i actually haven’t missed a jot of the live action I’ve wanted to watch and I’ve watched all of the bbc coverage!

you’d be halfway through an event, and as soon as it became clear the US competitor was not going to medal, they’d switch to something else.

@BellaAmorosa the Atlanta 1996 opening ceremony was supremely tacky, too (the crassness was the most memorable thing about it other than Muhammad Ali lighting the cauldron) - let's pray LA 2028 is better!

Today, I loved watching Evans/Murray, the men's 4x200m freestyle relay, and the sublime Simone Biles. We are away on holiday, so I'm not able to watch as much of the Olympics as I'd like, but am loving everything I do manage to see!

This is embarrassing. I now realise that I meant the 1996 Atlanta ceremony. Especially after Barcelona '92.

Glad the women's triathlon has started. I just can't quite believe they didn't have a back up plan of consistently safe water for them to swim in. Apparently they neck pepto bismol and coca-cola after a dodgy swim to flush their stomachs out.

Watching the triathletes get swept sideways by the current like 😮. Then all the steps to run up! I would have been on my knees at the bottom of them puking my guts up. Wet cobbles to bike on as well. Yikes.

This looks like a pack of hounds after a fox. It must be pretty motivating to see the quarry ahead. I feel sorry for all the ones who have splatted on the bikes.

Just in time for the final of the Women Triathlon, I didn't realise it had actually gone ahead today

I can’t help but feel slightly uneasy! It’s going to be on or around 30 degrees when they are completing their run! The bike race for the women was about 90 percent humidity! These are not good conditions during the height of the sun :(
